Thread: Erotic Dance Pre-script
Let me know if there IS interest in it and I'll put together something more specific and try to explain it in a way that will be more useful to prospective Erotic Dancers.
Its a LOT easier to SHOW than to describe but if people are interested I WILL try.
The first question that comes to my mind is "how old are you?" Or maybe it's not your age but the regional culture you live in that makes you misogynistic.
In the big, wide real world, "erotic" dance has nothing to do with prostitution. In Ancient times it was a traditional way to entertain royalty. Some of the most famous scenes of the Bible involve a dancer performing such a dance for the King. Never heard of Salome' ?
Your comment was crude and inappropriate. If you'd been reading FlawedDiamond's posts, you would know that she doesn't cyber. She entertains. IMO, she has found a unique RP niche in this game that is nothing to be ashamed of -- though I doubt the ill-informed opinions of cretins are going to make her feel ashamed anyway.
I personally don't dance that way, but I don't have a problem with people that do. FD's dance style from what I've heard described and what has been said is anything but whoreish. That comment you made ickhor shows you either have only a 14 year olds understanding of the word erotic or are just plain ignorant in nature. Erotic doesn't mean Hustler magazine but that would seem to be all your capable of thinking of. Erotic can be a wonderful form of art.. in drawing, photographyor dancing that has nothing to do with being slutty, dancing naked or anything of the sort. Anyone who doesn't understand that needs to put down their Playboys and get out to some art shows and see whats really out there.
Back to the subject, I'd be intrested in you describing in greater detail how you do it Flawed, not sure its for me but I'd sure like to hear more about it. 
Hmm...the only thing that bugs me is that all the cantinas will be slowly turning into either roadside strip bars or Elegant Exotic Cabarets...What about regular old bars? Places where you can kick back after a hard day of work, complain to your friends about the boss, and have some tasty snacks? Why does every bar have to feature female dancers appealing to the prurient side of life? Sure, sometimes you want to gaze on the female form, but other times you just want to kick back with a brew and some good tunes and relax.

There are plenty of cantinas out there that have none of the entertainers. However they usually don't have any barkeeps either.
What about regular old bars?
The trend is moving away from public cantinas to private ones - either exclusive clubs or PA-owned public establishments. The advantage to you, as a customer, is that you will have more control over which environment you want. The exclusive private clubs will cater to those after cyber RP, the PA public cantinas will be pickier about the quality of their performers and the public cantinas will either be empty or only feature those starting their performance careers.
And, really, it is attitudes like Ickhor's that have helped move things this way. Confusing 3D-rendered virtual cartoons with real sexuality is the bane of us all.
Well, first, I have no problems with "entertainers". Remember, musicians are entertainers too! Nor do I have problems with dancers. Nor do i have problems with erotic dancers. But it's nice to visit a cantina where the dancers are all dancing with an emphasis on pure dance, not erotic dance.
Meh, maybe it's just my desire for variety. Or the fact that it annoys me in RL when people assume that clubs are all pickup joints.
I tend to agree bugbread, will be nice once things are more established on the servers to be able to travel to the various PA Cantina's and choose what sort of environment I feel like performing in tonight. Or maybe not perform at all and just kick back with a few beers and enjoy the show for a change.
And yes Ickhor your right about the undie dancing.. all the more reason I'm looking forward to being a Master Dancer/Musician and getting the heck out of the public cantina's
Wow, the main intent of this thread has wandered, hasn't it?
In any case, I'd just like to say that I would love to see what Flawed is doing with erotic dance. I personally don't plan into going into erotic, but it would be interesting to see how she plays her style. I'm still settling on a style of dance myself, and it would be great to see what kinds of things can be done! :-)

I'm sure a lot of dancers would be interested in an exotic dancing guide. Those who equate lap-dancing with prostituation don't know what they are talking about. There is a huge difference between an up-close lapdance and cyber. I do lap dances for the worthy, and it has never gone any further than dancing as I do no solicit sex. My clothes stay on, no dancing in the birthday suit for me

Ok lesson in Exotic (or Erotic) dance 101.. pay attention bozo's (the bozo is directed at the Jerk in particular). For many years I was areal lifeBaladi Dancer.. for those of you saying "what the heck is Baladi?", it is a form of what most call "Belly Dancing". This is an anchient dance dating back over 3000 years and it is considered a very difficult art form to master.
Most Baladi dancers would punch your lights out if you ever insinuated that they were whores. Myself included.
I have to tip my hat to the person who designed the Exotic dances in this game because some of those moves are real Baladi moves and take YEARS to master correctly. It has been a year since I danced last and I miss it terribly, but the first time I saw a Master Dancer.. I knew what profession I was going to be.
Baladi is often refered to as Erotic Dance because of its very nature. It was created as a celebration of Life and the power a woman has to grant life to a child. The moves of a "belly dancer" are specifically designed to draw attention to the mid-driftarea of a woman. It is about child birth.. not a fling in the sack for 20 bucks you moron!

What I would love to see in game however, is the male version of this dance. It is extremely masculin and involves swords with very intricate, dangerousmoves. The Male Dancers out there would love it! The two styles compliment each other completely and would be anawesome show to watch.
