What I mean is, does the SOE player agreement say that being AFK is not allowed?

The force tells me...
It tells me that AFK is not against the rules, just undesirable.

I'm a troll because I don't have the same opinion that you have? Sorry mate, calling me a troll doesn't hurt my feelings and it's not going to make me change my mind about AFK play.

According to a strict and/or liberal interpretation of the current EULA, AFK play of any sort in and of itself is not against the rules. If you set yourself up to do somehting in AFK mode that "griefs" another player, THAT is against the rules. But not the AFK part of it; the griefing part of it.
TH's post implied that they will be changing the EULA in some fashion to make some or all AFK play against the rules.
I expect (hope) that they think through it and clearly state that only AFK play that advances one's character or performs some task that would otherwise be performed while ATK are against the rules, but that they leave the more harmless stuff (keep alive macros that only keep alive, shuttle ticket clickers) untouched.
Look, I'm as against destroying macros as you are. But if you keep up this idiotic trolling, *I'm* going to report you.
Shoo.

So report me for being a troll then. I asked a question and you called me a troll. So I retortded. If you don't want me to be a smart a$$ to you then don't be a smart a$$ to me.
Thanks for the post though. So AFK is not against the rules. So, there's no need for me to bother you on these boards any more.
Have a nice time dancing and complaining about my bot.
Cheers

Naish,
You used to be able to hand-sample resources the same way you can now dance - non-stop. At that point the devs put in that little sample window that would not allow you continue unless you actively clicked a bbutton. They did this to discourage AFK play. AFK play is the stagnation of a game and a class.
I don't know if you were here before that little window, but outside of all the cities there would be fields of afk people kneeling and sampling. It was freaky to say the least. It was frowned upon, and an attempt was made to eliminate it. First they added the automatic boot time. If you went afk for a certain amount of time you would get booted to the log in screen. That was not always in the game. In the beginning you could sit in a cantina and if the server didnt reset, you would still be there three days later. People found ways around the auto-afk thing so they added in that litle annoying window. People used recursive macros to get around that.
Now you are seeing the next evolution: the deletion of the recursive macro. When someone finds a way to get around this fix and the exploitation of afk play rises again, no doubt they will do something else. Its the price we pay for sharing the game with people who look for any way to get something for nothing, and don't care how it effects the rest of the player base.
If people would play the game the way it was intended - at the keyboard only - this wouldn't be a problem. Its too bad we are always going to have to deal with exploiters and griefers. This is cyberspace after all.
The flame is the law.
In case your wondering, I am not happy about the end of recursive macros. But I am willing to pay that price if it makes the game better for the friends I have made here. As a primary combat class who cannot buff yet on her entertainer characters my answer to this whole problem is GET RID OF BUFFS. If I can't beat something on my own mind power alone, maybe I need a bigger group.
However, buffs were put in to give doctors and entertainers a reliable source of income (Doctors used to have to rely on tips too), and I don't have the right to take that away from the people who use it for its intended reason. I wish there were a better way of doing it but it all depends on the amount of resources available at SOE. This is what they are able to do with what they have, and thats what we have to accept.
