Yes, it's too slow.
We want to change the 'healing' line to a 'props' line that allows you to craft and utilize 'stage props' (weapons, armor and so on that just look like weapons and armor). We're increasing the xp rate gain overall, and removing battle fatigue from the game entirely. We have some other enhancements to the entertainer professions that we want to do as well (profession-specific inspiration buffs for non-combat professions), but this is what is currently in development.
(on forcing interaction)
We want entertainers to be more like 'entertainers', and less like 'healers'.
In general, we don't want to force interaction. You should go to watch an entertainer because you want to, not because you have to. It'll be better for this to be a positive interaction ("I go see an entertainer to get something good") rather than a negative interaction ("I go see an entertainer in order to get rid of something bad").
Woohoo! What's this kids?!?
- Integrating props into the Entertainer skill tree
- Buffs for non-combat professions
- Encouraging positive interaction through "happy" services rather than a needs based "punishment"
Holy moo, that's only everything I ever hoped for in my little blue glowie heart! /boogie /cheer
These changes will allow everyone to see what entertainers always should have been, happy and fun ways to add a creativity and self expression to the game while enhancing the social setting for everyone.
Taking this one step further and allowing us to act as a quasi-support for non-combat is yet again a revolutionary MMORPG idea. Thank you for adding on to the already brilliantoriginalconcept of Entertainers. This will allow the concept to finally be what it needs to be... and work.
I hope other MMOs copy this new system for many years to come! /cheer SWG dev team (past and present

I'm thrilled to death about these changes. I know the thin ice of "places we haven't been" can be pretty scary but removing BF opens us up to gaining a lot more. We're working on getting more info and seeing how much of that we can talk about tonight at the meeting. For those who can't make the meeting, we'll be posting in the forum as well.

Youknow, I didn't think about it that way. I just got mad because they said "No BF", and that's pretty much all we have left. AFK bots have taken over many cantinas, and so lots of players think there are no ATK ents left, and Inspire Buffs aren't worthwhile really.
Finally, finally... it seems like one or two of the devs may be listening to what we've been saying for, what, 2 years now?

Buffs for non-combat professions
2 years have past and I returned. Player created cities, vehicles, Combat Upgrade...and two new expansions (which I have not gotten either yet) are all totally new to me. But the very first thing I noticed in my return was empty cantinas...everywhere...all over the galaxy. If it WASN'T empty all of the performers were AFK bots >.< Customers were a thing of the past (explained to me by an old old friend that CU did that) and it made my goal of obtaining Master Dancer that much harder...
But I read this post! And I thought to myself OMG! The dev team is doing something about this! Okay, so Battle Fatigue will completely be a thing of the past. But in place of that tree, props? What a great idea! Gives a whole new dimension to the Entertainer and their Elite trees =) So I just wanted to say thank you from me, Kakurine Kyndrin on the Tarquinas server (currently trying to complete that theater quest and failed twice so far satisfying the audience >.> lol) for thinking about us Entertainers that play this game not to fight...but to have fun =)

Yay! Someone got it!

I won't make the meeting. But frankly, I won't be able to survive a game without BF.
Buffs require no personality whatsoever. An automated script can do it. And it will always do it better.
Its seems its what this "new philosophy" in entertaining really wants. No real effort to do anything but time a macro, spam your stats, and program a routine that cranks out enough buffs while you hear the E-Mail beep. But if that's all entertaining will be from now on, you all can take it.
Because I am under the sad delusion that we as entertainers should make some effort to be amusing. Who really cares about that though when all anyone really cares about is getting themselves out of the door with an elite goodie by seeing a macro from a vacant character?
I am not clear on how being a performer (vs. an AFK bot) is at all related to whether you are healing damage (BFs) or applying a some sort of a buff. What impact does this have on the actual performance? And why would someone who wants to be out the door ASAP after getting a buff, not also be someone who wants to be out the door ASAP with his BF healed?
I guess I am not following how BF healing vs. buffing relate to performance or whether someone wants to enjoy that performance or not.
