Thread: *gag* and a question...
She's a noob and says that the tutorial told her to beg for credits. I gave her some advice and hopefully she'll take it. Of course, the way so many n00bs have been lately, I doubt it.
Bah. I hate being so cynical.
How do you handle these types of things? Are you just so tire of it you ignore them? Or do you still, after 2 years for some of you, continue to guide and help the new people?

I still keep my helper tag up. I usually offer to help out new folks. I generally offer only advice and not credits. /pointat Mission Terminal.
If I determine that they won't listen, I usually walk away and/or ignore them.
I made a character on Bloodfin, but I skipped the tutorial. I'll run through it and report back tonight! ![]()
I also saw a starport spambot the other day. Bleeech!!! In spite of my helper tag, I put her on ignore. I just didn't feel like dealing with it at that time.

The only problem with this, is have they fixed the problem with the destroy/delivery mission terminals and low CL characters? I experienced this myself as a starting out character once not too long ago where I had very little money and I wanted to earn just a few thousand credits. I wanted to do some quick delivery missions, but all the terminal offered me was in-town deliveries for like 50-90 credits or so, and even then one at a time. I ended up going over to the Entertainer mission terminals to get some decent 1k payouts for a mission.
Seriously, if you can't hit the ground running with a 75k gift from the Empire, you've got some big problems. My ignore list is starting to get pretty long these days, and the galaxy is getting a lot quieter.

I usually try to assist if someone is asking for help or information, but if someone new is just begging fortips repeatedly and refuses to run missions or learn about the game, I have been caught offering "Go beg in (remote NPC city I never visit)" as a tip.
I used to offer credits as a reward to new players in return for them doing something, like entertaining me such that I laugh, finding the waypoint of a vendor selling a certain article of clothing, or finding the price range of something, but most of them didn't want to do anything forcredits and just wanted handouts.
Probably not the nicest nor most helpful tips to offer, and probably not the sort of tips they were looking for. Oh well. ![]()
I started a new char a while ago, and I don't think the tutorial mentioned anything about begging. I had no problem getting delivery missions across cities, although it takes me a while to find 2 that start/end in the same city. of course, I also know where to get items fast that sells on the bazaar for 20k apiece

Have you tried Expolerer missions? Those might have you running all over the planet scoping out possibly dangerous situations or just run to point A and get paid. However these missions do pay 1k to 3k from what I remember. Also these missions give Scout exp.
I think the last time I tried an explorer mission was back at the beginning of the game. The last time I needed some credits I didn't have a lot of time to play and didn't want to do anything that would take me into unsafe areas so I decided the Entertainer mission would be the next best since I couldn't get a decent delivery mission. I think the only skills I had were Master Dancer and a little bit of unarmed so I just had a very low CL, and I'd spent all my credits on training. I think this was before they started all the newbies off with all the novice skills.
There was only one time I ever begged for credits, and it was a one time thing where I was training up to Master ID in one night, and I had to get almost all of my training from the NPC trainers (it was probably the same character I was running the Ent missions on). I asked very nicely in the ent channel if anyone could spare about 40k credits for me for training so I could finish up that night, and someone did. I was very gracious about it, and I still plan to pay him back when I have some more time to play on that server.
