Thread: Well, I didn't get the new dance...

But the adventures I had in the Coronet starport were worth failing the final performance. LOL I left my dancer by the ticket collector last night, AFK, in hopes that random passersby would give me an idle /watch. And that part worked, when I logged in today I had filled the quota. (My server is small, so that part was the hardest for me.) I also discovered that in the course of the few hours I was AFK, I received several tells wondering if I was single, one that wanted to know if I was as cute IRL as I was in game, and one marriage proposal by email, as well as quite a bit of money in tips. I also received one invite to a group, which got the person nowhere, as I had no /join command in my macro, and it wouldn't have done them a damn bit of good if I had.

I'm considering doing the same thing tonight... only adding a /join command, andthen a groupchat message with something like "Why did you want to group me? I can't buff you here anyway, n00b." and then disbanding. But I figure that might be a little over the top. Sigh.

This is what happens when I'm bored.

Well, I didn't get the new dance because I *am* a n00b. I should have read the guide first. Now that I know what I'm doing I should be able to. But, I didn't realize I actually had to talk to the audience, lol. I usually tend not to spoil myself for things because I like surprises. But, you know, I thought the theater manager was just offering a suggestion to talk to the audience if I wanted to. But, I didn't feel like smoozing. LOL

By the time I realized I was supposed to all I got was "flo 8, do flo 8!" haha...but, by that time my failure was inevitable. I'll be trying again and planning to get the new dance on Saturday.

EEEEK okay that's what I'm not doing

I've been talking to half the audience just for fun to hear what silly things they'll say but not all of them.

/bonk me

I shoulda read the guide too but didn't for the same reason.

I failed twice, was gonna look up what to do today, figured there had to be some catch I wasn't getting!

Talk to the audience?!? What do they think we are a bunch of social players?

/giggle

It helps to have some friends along to run thru the audience and talk to them, and they can tell you what they hear.

heh, it's alright... it took me a while to realize I gotta talk to the audience too. it's best done with a few friends, but doable by yourself. just double click and run while you read one of them will even tell you he saved money on his cloning insurance

Yesterday when I was going to do my first show, Caelan was getting ready to do her musician one, so I headed out to the audience and ran around talking to the members for her. I found it rather amusing when one of the audience members said that he'd like Rancors and thought they were cute. Now, I know alot of people would have thought he was talking about those large creatures on Dath that like to eat people, but on Kettemoor, we all know that he had to be referring to the Ragin' Rancors. Since Caelan is one of the members of that band... well... the comment obviously fit!

That one made me and my friends laugh so hard that I ended up not getting back up on stage in time

I got some derogatory remarks about wookiees which almost distracted me from completing the mission. Hey! Wait a minute! The more funny/creative the devs get with the script the more challenging the quest will become lol!

Ok, I'm getting a little annoyed with this thing. I talk to all of the audience members and they only gave me like 2 helpful pieces of info. Don't do poplock, and do flourish 5, that's it. I followed those instructions and they still weren't satisfied.

Now, I could take this if I didn't have to wait 24 hours to try again. I have a feeling I'm never going to finish this quest.

/mood annoyed

Yet it seems like other people are just whipping through these performances. What the hell am I doing wrong?!

I'm so annoyed in fact, that I don't even want to play the rest of the day. Grrrr

The 24 hour waiting thing is pretty annoying. I noticed on TC that before the performance, as you run around to talk to people, more people spawn in seats. The key is to read their responses like mad while you run around like an idiot. work the audience in a definite pattern - left section, then center, and leave the right section for your final 60 seconds or so - once done with the right section (double click on everyone you see in seats, if even multiple times) get on the stage. Usually I get on stage at the 30 second mark at the latest, so I don't screw that up.

Most likely they'll tell you one or two flourishes they DO like (make sure you play that a lot) and a song (or two!) they DO like. Always play those songs, and those songs only. Make a note of any song they DON'T like, and avoid it like the plague. Same with any flourishes they've "heard a million times" or "don't really like."

Tell the audience member who just saved a lot of money on his cloning insurance that with Progressive cloning insurance, they'll give you their rates AND the rates of their competitors.

Good luck!

It's also exceptionally helpful to have another person going through the audience with you - just watch what they say the whole time. When you start performing, have the person keep running around - though you will not see the audience member's chat bubbles i don't think. Make sure your friend reminds you what to do/what not to do. You just have to getthe audienceNeutral or Satisfied, I think.

I've done the performance for the 1st audience twice now, and failed both times. I didn't really talk to the audience the 1st time, but the 2nd time I did. All I got was they wanted to hear swg1 and flo one. I did both...alot. I still failed. Sucks they made the quest such a pain, and charge xp points. Oh well.
