Thread: Why has no one addressed this? (Mind wounds heal in Camp)
Many people have asked what the point is of being a dancer. Many have searched for ways to make the dancer profession more viable and necessary. Other than battle fatigue, there is one thing that a dancer should be needed for: Healing Mind Wounds.
One of the reasons that Dancers are marginalized is that it is easy for players to get rid of mind wounds. They can do so in Camps with only a small investment of time. Why don't we push for automatic mind wound healing to be nerfed in camps? That would instantly give Dancers a whole new desirability.

Hmm, I don't know about that.
I love the idea of persuading people to come to the cantinas, but that is already in place. Battle fatigue has an impact, and that is not healed in the camps.
I don't see the need to take mind wounds away from camps. I think that the slow rate of heal is enough of a motivation to keep people coming to the cantinas....and the battle fatigue, of course.
All wounds have that slow rate of heal in camps, med centers or cantinas. And right now it appears to be bugged anyway. My wound counter goes down but my stats don't go up.
I have yet to see someone who doesn't visit cantinas to watch the dancers or dance themselves.
For one thing, if you allow entertainers to heal in the field, what happens to the cantinas? We don't want every schmo with a horn and 15 points of novice to do our job for us. Allowing BF heal in the field would actually hurt us, not help.
Also, I'm not sure you're right on healing mind wounds in camp. I've danced for my PA on our hunts while we camped but I haven't really checked any mind wounds I've had myself. The others assure me it healed their mind wounds.
We're talking about the black part of the bar, here. It does not heal at ANY appreciable rate while sitting in a camp, any more than any other wounds. If you want to sit in a camp for 12 hours, you might see some healing, I don't know. I prefer to go to a med center and then a cantina for the heals and that's probably the best way for the game to work.

All wounds heal in a camp, just like a med center. But it is slow. It'll heal faster in ranger camps, but I'm sure it's still pretty slow. You're better off finding a doctor to take care of the first two and an entertainer for the third one. And it won't handle fatigue.
If you have severe Mind wounds, then it'll take a while to heal. If you want to walk away for 2 hours, then you have plenty of free time. Go right ahead.
There is another reason to not remove Mind healing in camps: Survival xp. The only way to get Survival xp is by having camps and healing people in them (or just tear them down after a length of time). Mind wounds contribute to this. As a master scout, I can tell you that we need all the help to Survival xp that we can get. Some rangers just set up camp and go afk with the hopes that someone will stop by and heal himself. Getting Survival xp out in the wild can be just as difficult as an entertainer getting Ent Heal xp in a sparsely populated area.

I think this is a good idea. Mind wounds are fairly easily healed in camp, since mind wounds are rare anyway. The slow rate of mind heal in camp is not really that important, since for every one mind wound point, there are usually 10 action and health wounds.
Mind wounds rare? You haven't hunted on Lok, Dantooine, Dathormir or Endor, have you? As a Novice Ranger (close to Master) and Novice Dancer (not going to touch Master), I can attest that Mind wounds are a major issue for my hunting parties. Many special ranged weapon and melee moves eat Mind as much as Action. Not to mention that our Medics lose their Minds in the frantic race to keep us healed and alive while taking on krayts and kimos.
Even in one of my Ranger field kits, the slow rate of waiting for the Mind points to come back would make hunting big game intolerable. Sitting around for twenty minutes waiting for the Mind points to regenerate is ridiculous, especially when everyone gets it fixed in under five when I dance. Nerfing Mind healing in the field would be a big mistake, and I would suggest that if Dancers want to make themselves more useful, start hiring yourself out to hunting parties. I'm sure that many groups will pay for your travel expenses, in addition to tipping handsomely.

Ah, today's patch has nullified my statement about Survival XP. You can now get XP by fishing. Also, it's supposed to be faster now.
Still, people are going to choose to heal mind wounds in a camp over a cantina only if they are trying to get Survival XP...or they are too far from a cantina.

I was under the impression that any action taking in a camp increases the survival experience (Foraging, crafting, surveying, etc)...
