This whole afk leveling business in the entertainer industry is completely out of control. Look if your gonna macro your way to master while at work or sleeping, get the hell out of my Cantina. I work my butt off while at the keyboard, talking with people. Being an entertainer is more then a **edit** master tag above your head.

Flame away if you will but frankly its out of control. Last night in Coronet i was the ONLY non afk'er in the whole place, there were 9! freakin dancers and 4 musicians all afk and spamming lame verbal macro's. They were afk all **edit** night.

Now you might say well its in game so why not use it. Well i will tell you why.

People say it doesnt hurt anyone, thats a load of crap, it hurts the live performers because even if you don't tip the bots, your stealing healing and dance exp from the ones who are.

Frankly this is a game mechanic that has gone on long enough. I know they are going to make it very hard for afk macro samplers, i hope they do the same to the lame dancer and musician macro jerks who are taking up valuable space and stealing exp from those who don't

From now on if i join a group and there is even one afk macro i am leaving the group plain and simple, i refuse to help someone who is laming there way to master.

Its a lame tactic, its rude. And above all you deserve no respect from anyone in the service industry.

Having a macro for creating routines and flourishes for the band is one thing, setting a loop and going to work or bed is LAME!

I totally agree. Pretty sad to have 10 people in the entertainers group and have to start a new one becuase everyone is afk. This has ticked me off from day one, and while in Bestine I would boot AFK dancers. After I moved to Corellia I found out how bad it could be when everyone goes afk for hours or more while I work (dance) my butt off. Now I just think...I don't need the xp, and the extra tips are great. So you afkers never gripe about tips when you aren't there to collect, and remember the ones who aren't afk are rolling in dough =p.

Sampling, in my opinion is one thing, but dancing and music is another. Working in a service industry is no place for macro's, the comments are totally annoying and it is disrespectful to those who are also in the group. Also the macroedcomments about tips is laughable...why the hell should you get tips when you don't even have the common courtesty to stay and TALK to your customers...why should they evenbother to type /tip afk dancer/musician??? Guess those who do stay at the keyboards will have to put our foot down about those who do the afk macroing in our groups.

Well given the choice between haivng AFK dancers in my group of 15, or having no AFK dancers in my group of 5... I'll take the AFK people, because they're helping me level. Now if there's a 20 person group, and more people want in, then you'd best believe those AFKers are getting kicked to make room for live dancers/musicans. But there's no reason to cripple ourselves when space is not an issue.

I am in 100% agreement. I am NEVER afk while dancing...not even if I have to go to the bathroom otr grab the phone. I make Sy go sit down if I will not be giving her and the game my complete attention. I have no respect for the powergaming people who ruin the reputations of hard working entertainers by using afk macros for hours on end.

I hope SOE finds a way to boot them from game if they are afk or running a macro for more than the allowed 15mins...

I hate the way some ppl use macros...

Macros can be a great tool to create a dance routine. I use them all the time but they are not so I can walk away from the computer. Pop2 for an example, using 8 and 16 second timing between flourishes and timing at the beginning ofSW2 can make for a great dance number. (Have a healer close by, you won't last very long It has me contiplating learningintruments so I could make a co-ordinated arrangement...I've had ppl tell me I'm the best dancer in the place. I have healers that spend all their time healing me exclusively at times.

There, I gave away my secret of why I'll make 20k plus in tips in a night and the endless macro users complain of not making anything, use it. I never ask for tips and have even switched to a gown instead of the body wraps and have more credits then I know what to do with. Use the macros right and talk to the people, your entertainers, be that.

I've hadmore then my share of onlookers and tips having fun with dance routines like this, it really allows you to be creative. I have read how ppl on here say they want to be more creative but I haven't seen it in game...

I get very annoyed with the endless macros some use so they don't have to be around, especially the ones that ask for tips every two minutes. This is not entertaining or creative.Seeing a Coreographer title on some makes me laugh...

Personally,IF I go afk while dancing,go to a backroom away from the main show, or go back to my house and I always leave the group if I am going to be gone more than 5 mins (generally if I am going to be gone a couple minutes, i let the group know and go sit down). Everyone has there own game playing style and different reasons for playing, and how fast they want exp, and so for. We could list them all day. And we can go on, on, about our pet peeves. Well, if someone wants to go AFK while in a group, it really is up to the group how they want to deal with it. What I find very tasteless is those who are the group leaders that go afk or those who have spam macros trying to get tips. How can you earn tips if you're not there.

Ok, stepping off my soapbox....

I agree that the way many people use this causes some problems but I think they are minor.

Here is the good news:

#1 those afkperformers give you bonus experience so you level faster

#2 most people ONLY tip non-afk players (unless you are theonlyperformer in a remote cantina)

#3 90% of those players will never dance again once they hit whatever level they think they wanted

I don't see very many people really being dedicated to the entertaining profession for very long.

I must admit, at first the AFK dancing didn't bother me, but I must admit that having all those people run around with 'Master Dancer' above their head and me still not having a title is very frustrating. It just makes one wonder if all their hard work is worth it. I for one only use a macro (albeit a very short one) when I have to go to the bathroom, open the door, grab a drink, etc. Right now I'm working on a macroed routine, but I'm not going to leave it running while I leave. Frankly, all those AFK masters just make me feel cheated, and question whether I'm doing the right thing...

And you're right, curse those AFK group leaders! I can't remember how many times the band has had to disband and regroup just because of an AFK or LD leader. Can't they please be a bit more responsible?

Phew, it felt good to get that all out!

AFKers forlevels should be off the main floor, away from live entertainers. If grouped, they should have the permisision of there group mates who understand what they are doing. If they are doing this, I have no problem with it. Having 10 folks afk on the main floor (which by the way, i think is in the wrong place in the Cantina ) is just wrong and sucks.

I have to admit - I use macros and I dance AFK.

Oh wait, I should clarify - I use two or three macros that I think make decent dance routines for when the chatting gets really busy. And I dance AFK for up to 5 minutes at a time when I'm making a snack, or doing laundry, or some other such thing - though I usually try to leave those chores for when my PC is sitting regaining Action.

That all said, I have not yet encountered many AFK performers in my backwater cantina in Mos Espa on Tempest.

Now: a legitimate macro question - is there a way to end a macro prematurely? Sometimes when I get chatting and throw my macro I don't pay attention to my Action bar and start spamming myself with "You must be dancing or playing music to perform a flourish" messages cause the macro continues after I run out of energy. Any way to stop that?

You do realize of course that if you are grouped with afk dancers and someone watches them that you all get the added xp bonus not just the person being watched. Sorta makes that point invalid.

Wow, the vitirol.

Not a flame, but I don't think it's that big of a deal if they put their AFK flag on and move off the front of the floor. People usually tip dancers that interact with them more, so I don't really consider a macroer a threat. It just gets annoying when they /emote or say the same thing every 5 minutes.

The best way to get my goat while dancing is beg for tips. An AFK macroer just sits there and is part of the group XP pool, nice and quiet. The tip begger is really a lot like a little mosquito in your ear. Not pleasant.

Grexor,

This point IS valid its a two way street, if that darn bot is in my group and somebody is watching ME a live entertainer they are leeching off my being there. I refuse to let them "Borrow" my exp bonus while they sleep.

This is a valid point. Think about it
