I was reading Thuderhearts post about us coming up with some force abilities and here are my ideas.

FREEZE FRAME
the dancer can freeze in time for X amount of seconds. Using the comand wile frozen will cancel the effect. Say your doing the jump splits and use the comand you would hang in the air for say 5 seconds or untill you used the command again then you would continue the flourish/dance from where you left off.

SLOW MOTION
the dancer would move in slow motion for X amount of seconds. using the command while in slow motion would cancel the effect.

INTERUPTION
this command is a toggle between the way we work now and having a new flourish interupt an old one. So with this toggled on pressign a flourish in the middle of a flourish would stop the old flourish and start the new one.

FLUIDITY
the is another toggle between how we work now and being able to cue the next flourish just like musicians do. So say you where dancing basic and did flourish 1 then pressed flourish 2 right away it would "cue" flourish 2 and start it right after flourish 1 completes. Note it is very important that having interuption toggled on would negate this ability. The reason for this is if you had some flourishe3s cued and hanged your mind you could use interption to bypass.

Now there is a lot of blanks for the devs to fill in because I don't know how you measure how tuned to the force a character is, but too me these force abilities make sense for two reasons. One they have to with dancing and two they alow us to be kind of more human then human as dancers.

i quite like these ideas. good work sultrina ^_^

debating whether i should throw some of my own ideas out here or start a new thread. maybe i should just consolidate space and make it easier ^_^ i swear 'm not hijacking

i swear

this could go under dance techniques for force sensitive, maybe, or a dance knowledge kind of thing? what about the heal trees? decreased healing times for mind wounds and fatigue? increased buff power or duration? i really dont know how they have the trees set up for force sensitive characters at this point. i haven't been over to test center. i like that x-mas morning feeling about new publisheswhen i get to try things out live.

much rather see your ideas happen over mine because that seems like much more fun, rather than working on something that already for the most part exists in game, just in different quanities. 'm more interested in new actual content.

I really, really like these ideas Sultrina. Most of the time that I've been discussing Force Sensitive abilities I've concentrated on the buffing aspect because that seems the most logical. But, I think what you have here doesn't really detract from the "regular" Master Dancers, and these ideas are somewhat "mystical." In some sense, I didn't want *additional* dances to be force sensitive abilities, because I believe that if you're a master dancer you should be able to dance any and all dances.

However, these ideas, especially freeze frame and slow motion have an air of mysticism about them and would be cool little perks for the force sensitive, and it seems "logical" that a master dancer not necessarily have the skills to do so. I think in the same vein, it would be nice to have a "speed up" skill as well.

Of course, I don't know how possible any of this is to implement. However, I think they're great ideas that make sense.

Oooooooo speed up Drygo your a genius, a new one called

BLURR

this toggle alows the dancer to move faster leaving tracers behind them. not like tka tracers but acually blurred tracers of your limbs ect. Like all the other skills using the effect while its still going cancels the effect. Should be a riot with poplock

I really love these ideas!! Although I'd worry that the blur one may create massive lag if a lot of players were doing it at once... maybe make it the elite of the elite 'extra skills' to get as a force-sensitive dancer so that you don't walk into half a cantina on a blur effect?

Re the force sensitive aspect if this was given to dancers I'd really hope we weren't required to go overt, or even have a particular faction to use it (I'm neutral, I know a lot of other dancers are too as it fits our character's being helpers/impartial, etc.). Perhaps force sensitivity could be gained over a series of quests where the dancer learns about the force, and the how's and why's of using it, followed up by missions (maybe over a set time period so this ability can't be ground... say 3 months from the day you start on that path?). The missions could be things like spending time in the wilderness to attune to nature, locating force crystals, building force weapons for dancing, studying different force abilities, etc, it's been a while since I read 'The Jedi Academy' trilogy but that would have some good ideas for missions.

These ideas are awesome! I would also like to see us gain the ability to have flourishes and movements that are independent from a particular dance..flourishes that could be used in any dance.

I like it that the ideas in this thread focus on more than just our abilities to heal and buff. I really don't care for the thought that force dancing might become the next trend for buffbots.

I have a few questions about all this. I admit I was away for a while and maybe missed something.

Assuming one now does quests or something to become 'force-sensitive', is that what we're talking about here? Once you have that invisible switch turned on, you somehow become a better dancer? Or do you invest skills into the Jedi tree or something to get these enhanced skills?

Does this mean now that there will be Jedi Dancers? My understanding was that Jedi was a profession in which you could be NOTHING else. Has that changed?

Thanks for any information, I'm just a bit confused.

The idea that being a Jedi still requires your complete focus hasn't changed, I think.

From the way I understand it, and I am hardly a definitive source on this, once you do the Jedi quests your character becomes Force Sensitive and a new character slot opens. You can then run the quests again with your new character to make them Force Sensitive too, and dedicate them to being a Jedi, or just use them to train in more professions but still be force sensitive.

Your original character is Force Sensitive, so you can make them drop all skills and focus on becoming a Jedi, or you can keep your skills and utilize new Force Sensitive abilities to enhance your current professions (better aim, better crafting, better terrain negotiation or whatever - those are only examples, not necessarily real skills you can get). I also hear that being Force Sensitive might let you use some basic skills from professions you haven't learned Novice in, like one can do basic surveying without Novice Artisan (but you can't make survey tools), or you can use a tent without Novice Scout (though you can't MAKE the tents). Not sure about the accuracy of that, though. This is mostly conjecture.

I love these ideas. Ideally I think a mix of both utility skills and pure entertainment skill as force-sensitive would be great. So I'd like to be able to have a list to choose from, something like:

- Utility Skills

  • Increased buff duration

  • Increased buff amount

  • Ability to self-buff action stats for a brief time

- Entertainment Skills

  • Freeze-Frame

  • Slow-Motion

  • Blur

For two reasons

1. They arn't the types of things an ordinary dancer should be able to do.

2. We where asked to come up with force skills for our class or we get nothing at all.

1. They arn't the types of things an ordinary dancer should be able to do.

Most of the ideas I've seen here (vogue, fast dancing, slow dancing, go from one flourish right into another) are pretty much things any dancer can do, even outside the SWG universe. Now if we're talking about being able to use the force to mind control someone into actually tipping us, that I could believe.

2. We where asked to come up with force skills for our class or we get nothing at all.

So you're OK with having to spend more skill points now to be the best possible dancer? You can no longer master a second profession, because true dancer mastery now takes Master Dancer AND Fabulous Force Feet IV?

Im ok with coming up with force like skills so we don't end up with nothing at all if w do choose to go force sensative, and I don't know for a fact it WILL cost more points. I think these skills are above and beyond what a normal master dancer should get and I don't think you understand them at all if you think real dancers can do the same thing.
