Recently I have seen a couple of male Master Dancers on Kettermoor. They have very nice looking avatars, and the exotic moves look really nice with their builds. I have also seen many people harassing them because they are Master Dancers. I know that many of the female avatars are really men playing women, but being a female IRL I like having the male dancers to watch. Some of the female dancers also like to plan dance routines, and having a male partner to dance with is fun, and gives the routines a different look and feel. Why must the male entertainers be musicians only? Why are so many people freaked out by the aspect of a male dancer? I have even seen the female avatars giving them a hard time. Now granted these "Male Dancers" may be females IRL, but if they are willing to rp a male, why is it any different than the guys who rp females? Lets give these guys a break people! They worked just as hard to master the dance as the women, and I know from experience that dancing may not be their only skills. If you are out on missions and have been knocked out several times, you might welcome a dance from anyone who has the skill, and not to mention the mind buffs that last up to 2 hours now. Only the master dancer can give you that. Do you want to have to run back to the cantina every time you need a heal of a buff?

Here's my hope to see more male Master Dancers. One's that aren't as fat and as ugly as they could make their character. Surely there are others who share these views. Come on ladies, give them your vote of confidence! /cheer the sexy MALE DANCERS!!

Heh, I am a Master Merchant, but since I really had nothing else to do with my skill points, I dropped the musician I had and went dancer, it gets poked and made fun of by guildies, but that was to be expected, heh. It is kind of interesting to play a male dancer, tips seem to be kind of nice.

My PC Whiteybear is a dancer/hustler on Starsider. I find that if you are humorous and have fun with it you will hae alot of fun. Tips are always poor but at least you stand out among the crowd. Make something up tha people just can't deny. When Whitey tells his story about how he ended up in jail with his quite wookie cellmate, I'm pretty sure I get afew laughs. Which makes it worth it.

May the funk be with you.

My dancer is male (I have a female dancer too but she is kind of boring compared to Deletrius, who is nearly master) and I totally agree with you. The whole reason I started my dancer as a male is because I knew I'd be watching him dance for hours and hours and hours and hours, and I wanted a nice-looking guy to stare at. The problem is he doesn't get many tips in relation to my female dancer, it's hard to find good dancing clothes for him (at least now he can take his shirt off, mmmmm), and a lot of guys feel it important to ask me if I'm gay. I just say no without going through the needless explanation that I'm female playing a male character (which would probably make many people even more uncomfortable). Deletrius is on Dathomir right now and is stuck dancing poplock to avoid the many comments he gets when doing exotic. At least the tips are better with poplock, but I'd much rather watch him doing exotic (and the xp is better).

Anyway, I have noticed a lot more guys taking up dancer lately, which I like to see. I have nothing against female dancers wearing fleshwraps, but when you walk into a cantina and that's all you see it's kind of boring. Variety is the spice of life! Come on, guys, put down that slitherhorn and join us on the dance floor!

Honestly, I can say I made the dancer on Kettemoor as a joke originally. Something to fool around with when my "main" server was down. But then I slowly, no quickly became tired of all the fighting and not knowing anyone at allon my "main" server. In the short period of time I was on Kettemoor, I had met 3 times the people I knew on my "main" server. While I was playing him, during the Entertainer part of the tree, I actually got to Music 3 and realized that all I saw was female dancers and male musicians and thought to myself "I like a challenge" (after all, I did take a halfling to being a 65 cleric, and that was unheard of) and went the dancer route. You would not believe the people who was like "Wow, a male dancer" and thought to myself "this isn't bad". Then I hit exotic........

That's when it all happened.

I got laughed at, watched then the people saying "You're a GUY doing exotic?" then run off laughing, and I was about to give it up. Then I got some positive reaction from alot of people which liked seeing the male dancer (both male and female) which was pretty good turnaround. I haven't run into the harrasment problem (yet) from other players (male or female) but I have a pretty good feeling after this post, I may I can make pretty good tips, always people asking for the mind buffs, but that's not what I'm doing the dancer thing for....I do it for the social side in which I have met some very, very cool people and have made alot of friends, alot of them which watch this board, and alot that are actually female (at least in the game, who knows about the player). So, I say if you want to be a male dancer....go for it. I'm having a blast and getting more into the RP side (my skills suck it's been such a long time) than I was at the first, but it's getting better. Don't let the people laughing take away from the fun, play it up and have a good time at it.

Oh, and trust me, take up another profession as looking at the cantina walls for days on end is just enough to drive one batty

w00tz0rs for male dancers! I'm glad to see this becoming trendy! Male dancers rock and are a nice addition to all the females. Don't listen to the daycare types, and don't be nervous about chatting up the patrons and working the crowd!

Although it seems to me there's something 'right' about a fat guy horn player. Play that funky music, white boy!

I'm seeing more and more. I think this is a good thing, even if I don't understand why there is an influx.

I think the new buffs may have something to do with it.

I can't speak for others, but myself I've been a dancer way before the mind buffs came out for the main reason being I got bored of the fighting. Maybe people have gotten tired of the same thing, not meeting people or just of the fighting itself. Hard to say.

If you can get past the "are you gay" comments and such, it isn't really all that bad.

I have a lot of fun dancing, and a lot of my lady friends would kill me if I decided to drop dancing, which I have been severely tempted to do just to stop the bs from people.

I'm kinda split on male dancers becoming trendy. In a way it's good, because I won't be one of the very few, but on the other hand, I won't be as rare. Oh well though. =p

Ack! I'm becoming trendy now?

To be honest, I kind of liked being unique. I never met another guy that was a master dancer on Kettemoor until about a half hour after I made master. (Literally.. I got master, then decided to wander off to somewhere less crowded.. Someone asked me to come dance in Kaadara. While I was en-route, another dancer showed up... He was also a master)

Just curious, you mentioned you've seen a few.. Can I get names? I'm trying to get an act together.. Preferred would be twi'lek, but I'll take what I can get. If you don't want to give out names, you can ask them to contact me.

This is apparentlynot the forum to go to for admonishing lack of support of male dancers , we're the choir being preached to. The dancers heresupport male dancers and give a care, usually to the state of dancing in general.

I have a male dancer in my troupe and I wish I had more. However, I will not at this point ask men or women to put down instruments and start dancing on my server, we have lost most experienced musicians. I can get dancers but no music. Sad state.

Anyway, I wanted to mention one of the venues I help manage and entertain at that rather looks at the whole male dancer issue in a different light that was here talked about.

We have a venue called the Grind on Kettemoor which is a dance club. I think at least another server does this too. We have a real DJ, doing dance mixes and in character radio ads and station ids and he does a live show at a dance club in Kadaara. Its all done up to a beach party theme. He has a female bartender mixing drinks ala Cocktail (my cook from the Glitter Pit) he has house dancers in uniform that are there to dance with patrons and encourage them, the DJ is there with a live stream people tune into and everyone, men and women get at least novice entertainer and come dance and party with us.

Its been up 4 times and really packed 3 of those. In the vein of some people ending their acts by inviting the guests up to dance with them, this is music people like - techno and trance and such looks great even with footloose and the men don't feel self conscious. If they do its the house dancers job to encourage them with a smile and talk.

Its a nice change from the normal cantina and normal player run cantina and makes the guys know dancing isn't gay.
