Well, we wondered when it was going to happen, guess it did. Here's a quote from a post on the main Disussion forum

Upon looking at the CM tree on TC, i saw that this new ability has been added in treatment speed 4 of the CM tree. It's called mind heal, and the description goes along the lines of:

Mind heal: "This ability allows a Combat Medic to heal his target's mind costing wounds to himself..."

Just great!

We get something to boost the entertainer profession, and now people wont need the mind buff anymore except CM's...wonderful thinking there.

*sigh*

Hmm. Combat medic heals mind damage, incurring wounds of his own.

And who heals those wounds?

Everyone in the party since most of them have novice entertainer anyway.

So, what exactly is the problem? This ability heals mind DAMAGE, something that entertainers don't deal with. It doesn't say anything about healing mind wounds. I think y'all are jumping the gun on this one.

This ability is needed. Until now, the only way to heal mind damage was to luck out and get a special stimpack as loot. In fact, people grinding ID are always limited by their mind. This new ability means that a CM can keep you going instead of you having to rest. Looks like a benefit to me.

The first thought I had when seeing this was they were simply experimenting with ways to heal mind damage. This is a sorely-needed feature in the game, since wedoctors simply love buffing everyone's red and green stats just to watch them die from mind damage we can do nothing for. And, regardless of whether the victim clones or I raise her, all the buffs are gone.

It is just as bad without the buffs, too. The buffs just add an extra insult to the injury. Master Medics, for example, cannot revive their friends, so they just watch them die from mind damage. Ugh.

Anyway, back to my original point: We have to figure out just wheremind damage healing should go.Entertainers? I am also a novice dancer, and I have no desire to dance on a battlefield, thank you very much. (Can you say "target"?) Medics? Then doctors, medics, and (possibly) bio-engineers could heal mind damage. Doctors? Well, the doctor is not really supposed to be the one you rely on in a fight--that is the combat medic. So, it makes more sense for the combat medic to have the capability. Though, personally, I think giving it to the doctor as well (not in place of) the combat medic would be proper.

Of course, the trouble is when you have two people with the ability--they could just heal each other, over and over and over. . . . That, at least, is the concern. Putting it high in an elite profession should reduce that, and making sure the penalty (i.e., the wounds) is severe, should limit that.

Either way, as a dancer, I see nothing to fear from this. Let us give it time, see how it works. And bluebuffs are definitely safe from this. Trust a Master Doctor on that one.

I agree with SlickRiptide on this one. Healing mind DAMAGE should not be an issue for us, since we can't heal that right now anyway and never could.

I agree with the other poster who said he didn't want to dance on a battlefield. That's the only place where healing DAMAGE is needed (not wounds, damage)-- the battlefield. So as a dancer I am glad they gave this ability to another profession. I don't need some punk griping at me to leave the cantina and dance for him in the middle of a war because I'm the only one who can heal mind damage. Let the combat medics do it. They can all come to me after their war is over, to get their actual WOUNDS and BF healed.

It's about time they made it healable, and combat medics is probably the right choice.

The mind buff is only slightly diminshed by this, people will still ask for the buff.Id rather have seen both dancer and musicians be able to buff all 3 mind stats.

They should just make it so that Master Musician and Dancer Mind buffs actually give 100% (or 125% for the factional one) to all 3 blue bars instead of just Mind like the rest of the profession. That would give people who have gotten to Master an extra reward instead of their buff just taking less time to max out.

This ability allows a Combat Medic to heal his target's mind costing wounds to himself...

Yay.
