Thread: Why did you become a dancer?
I hear a lot of people complain about dancer's being turned into sex objects, afk holocron freaks, or men who who like to parade around as female twi'lek dancers for a cross-gender adventure...what was your reason?
Personally I ended up having mind wounds a lot and was mad that I could heal my health and action, but not mind, then after becoming a dancer I liked the attentionand how easy it was. Today I'm still a dancer because /healmind on combat medic destroys a persons mind and there's never dancers around in remote locations to help me.
Then a friend of mine on a RP-heavy MUSH mentioned she played the game and was playing a dancer. "Dancer?" I said. "That's a class?" So she explained the whole deal and how there were whole non-combat professions basically designed around the idea of roleplaying and socializing, and that did it for me. I had to try it.
Another person I knew who was a beta-tester for SWG (I did not know it while he was Beta testing, only as I was deciding whether to play the game in late July) discussed it with me. I told him I really wanted to get into RP... not combat or levelling up. He also recommended dancer or musician.
So I selected Entertainer and I've never looked back. At first I was going to just do that -- be a dancer/musician. But I eventually found people who liked to go out hunting and found that I enjoyed fighting things in moderation. Also the character I was roleplaying changed from being timid and afraid of her own shadow to being quite the huntress. It was all part of the RP. Now she is a Novice Carbineer as well as nearly a master dancer. Heheh.
So, that is why I am a dancer. For the RP and social aspect. I also very much like healing and helping others, and so I like that as well. But mostly it is for the RP.

I fall into line of Sultrina.
After playing DAoC over two years I saw in the dancer profession something absolut different and never existed before.
I tried it in the beta and stick now in the dancer profession because I like the concept, albeit it has some flaws.

Aniella (Gorath) Dancer, Fencer
i made a dancer because i was tired of killing things all the time, and wanted to try a completely passive class where i could just kick back and converse with people, as of right now i am back into the killing things binge, and have not been playing my dancer as often, but once i get my character to where i want, i probabally will be playing my dancer more often.
but the main reason i became a dancer was to do something different, and i found i enjoyed it quite a bit.
Several reasons, when I first started playing the game was so slow on my computer I couldn't do anything else, it was something really original and unique to SWG, and I saw someone doing exotic and just had to have it, and finally I very much enjoy the social aspects of this game and I hate combat ![]()
Much later I was dancing somewhere and this doctor comes up and I discovered the joy of never running out of action while dancing... That began my quest for Master Doctor.
I have been Master Dancer / Master Doctor now for several months and I love it.

Of course being an RP type at heart, the joke evolved into an actual character complete with an extensive background.
I never really got around to bringing this character to life untill recently though. My main that I've been playing since release had kept me very busy but now that her gameplay is slowing down and general dissapointment in the amount of RP going on, I decided to give my dancer a chance in hopes of increasing my RP intake.
I'm just starting to get a handle on things and I'm looking forward to trying to make a name for myself out there. Keep an eye on the bill boards- I will be a headliner someday. I promise.

"So I have no clan. What does that really mean in a culture of spys? Perhaps that I can actually be trusted with a secret...?"
Why did I become a dancer? Because I love the social aspect of MMO's & I wanted to spend the majority of my play time in a venue where I would meet lots & lots of different types of players. I am a heavy roleplayer & in my opinion some of the best roleplay goes on in the cantina. I find that I get plenty of 'combat' time in other games I play, so I've developed this char into a complete entertainer.
Lyliw Fenix ~ Pearl Oasis, Tatooine, Valcyn: Master of Dance, Image Design & Entertainment
Originally I started as a Scout/Marksman and thought having some dancing skill would be beneficial in the field. Once I started I found that I fell in love with dance and the people I met both other performers and customers.
I've changed professions many times medic, chef, merchant, brawler but I'll never surrender my dancing skills.
Currently Master Dancer/Master Medic/almost TK Novice

my first char started as an entertainer, and i went up musician. i got bored standing in the cantina all day and all the people beggings for tips, so i started leaving the cantina... and somehow became a tailor.
went onto TC and started a char a bit later... then they allowed 3 chars per acct on TC. since i never finished my musician, i wanted to make another entertainer char. however, musician wasn't exactly what i expected, and i like to dance, so i went dancer.
