Thread: New abilities for entertainers??
You really don't want me to reply to this, do you?! Tough, you brought it up so you are going to get an ear full . . .
As a dancerof any level Ihave always foundit brazen andcrassfor someone to come up and give me an unsolicited kiss, hug, squeeze, lick . . . whatever. It angers me to no end. I didn't like it when I was single and I can't stand it now that I am married! Especially when the offending party doesn't give a #($% as long as my husband isn't around and/or continueseven after I tell them to stop. And don't give me the"just/ignore them" bit - they can still grope all they want, theyjustcan't converse with me . . . .
I am a dancer, not a stripper or a hooker. I am not dancing for anyone's sexual gratification. I am dancing simply because I love to dance. The fact that it heals people is a bonus, but I would dance regardless of that benefit. I'd like to see the whole touchy/feely aspect (within the ingamesocial macros) be done away with altogether or at least have a /consent requirement attached to them (I mean, come on, you can "lick" someone but you can't simply hold someone's hand? Please!).
No one would walk up to a dancer in RL and start groping them without running the risk of immediatelybeing shown the door face first (not even in a strip club). So why are dancers subjected to what amounts toingame molestation? I'd have to say its probably because the devs are all men and they thought it was cute at the time . . . . . .
And you have the NERVE to suggest it would get us better TIPS!!!!!!
You want better kissing? Find a willing Wookiee!!
I thought we were talking about a game here? I can understand if you're "roleplaying" anger but seriously this is a game right? I know you guys were talking about no content and so I was doing a little thinking on the matter and I came up with some content.
Hi,
I use the /emote command all the time while dancing. Not to do anything perverse, but to make a joke or get the attention back on me instead of all the AFKers. It burns me to no end to see all the entertaining healing going toAFKers instead of someone who stays at the keyboard and roleplays with the best of them.
Javier, my dear, your kisses never bother me as they aren't offensive since they are on the hand or cheek - and you are a friend. You are (almost) always a gentleman towards me! ![]()
SoontierFel, I don't usually macro. I manually flourish. Since I often dance with a group of dancers who are at least at pop2we bandflo a lot so macroing just doesn't work. I also don't wear fleshwraps or body suits. But then the devs haven't exactly given us a lot of costume choices to choose from besides revealing outfits.
I do role play. But my character might mean more to me thansome others because she's a character I created for a fanfic. Writers and their character can get rather close. When someone offends my character, they run the risk of offending me. And since many times they don't seem to give two hoots about the degree or duration of their offense, I don't think they care if they are offending the RLpersonanymore than the character.Recentlya player verbally and physically harrassed my character even after being told she was married and was asked several times to stop. I ignored him ingame and began conversing with someone else and he finally went away - after nearly 10 mintues of hugging, squeezing, kissing and expressinga couplerather vulgar statements . . .I'm sure he thought he was being really funny, but he make it difficult for me to enjoy the game at that point. He's probably all of 13 years old to boot . . . ![]()
I think you'll find my treatise on building a dancing career to be most useful to you:

It's just a game, that's true. As is tennis. I have yet to lick, kiss or even hug somebody just because we were having a tennis match. I have yet to meet someone to lick, kiss or hug me just because we had a tennis match. I'm not saying that some of the girls wouldn't have been welcome ![]()
but you just don't do that, even if it's "just a game".
Maybe what is meant is it's just an "online" game ? Well, unlike computer games of the last millenium, online games tend to have real people on the other side of the monitor. And real people want to be treated like that. The same way you'd treat them on the phone or in a game of tennis.
Maybe it's important that this is a "roleplaying" game ? Considering the first paragraph, what makes people think I'm roleplaying a totally non-conforming person ? Why would they "roleplay" a person totally removed from societies rules ? And Starwars basically conforms to all our rules. Han doesn't just lick Leia in Part I, does he ? Neither does Luke. Neither does Leia herself take any such actions.
Games follow the same rules of play that all personal communication or meetings follow. Ask yourself if it would be approriate in real life. If the answer is no, chances are it won't do much good in a game.
SoontierFel, perhaps you just don't "get" how actions such as that can affect not on the the quality of the game, but the mood of the person on the other side of the monitor. However, not understanding doesn'tgive anyonecarte blancheto trivialize how I or other female players feel. You might not agree with our feelings, but you should respect them, just as you (hopefully)would in real life. FYI, other females havecome on to me, as well, so its not just limited to the male characters.
One thing I always find curious, though,is why in the galaxy these things always seem to happen when Roho is not around . . . . (looking for the scratching head smiley . . . )
Aside from the immaturity level of some players (and I have met many youngplayerswho were more mature than some of the older ones) I have no problem with their "age" - only their behavior. So, feel free to create a character on Bria and have no qualms about getting into awonderfulconversation with Kirah - whether you are 13 or 40 (gasp- do you really think 40 is old?). ![]()
