This forum is for the discusion of new aditions to the game that would add entertainment value to our class. Please keep this thread on topic and brainstorm as many ideas as we can. I belive it is high time we get some love goign in this area.

Color options on special effects
It would be nice if we could change the color of our lights and smoke for even more fun with them. I would prefer that we have both a / command and a pull down with a palette. Given a choice Ill suffer the hex version as it is the most versatile.



You can change the color of some visual effects by using /smoke 1 , /smoke 2, /smoke 3 or /light 1, 2 and so on up to 3 or 4 if I recall.


Anyway, a larger color range should be great !

I remember reading a Dev post a way back that included having mo-capped things like juggling... Not sure where though, I hope it wasn't a dream.

Play music on a mount.
Great idea...not holding my breath to see it implemented as it's purely aesthetic.

Love it. Hopefully it shouldn't be too hard to implement since it's not introducing motion capture, just reusing what we already have.


Interrupt flourish on move
Not sure why they changed it at all, but I agree if a dance is interrupted for any reason, we should simply stop dancing.


Color options on special effects
This would be a nice addition, I'd like to see it added.


One button to control them all
I'm not honestly sure what this buys us. If you want to repeat a special effect over and over, a macro can do this right now. Maybe I'm not understanding.


More types of entertainment
I would veto this. They can't even keep content flowing for 3 entertainment skills, never mind adding new ones. Once I see them adding new dances and flourishes every month or every few months, then I'd agree they have the bandwidth for this.


Outfit capsules
I dislike this idea. Changing outfits is already completely unrealistic...being able to change in the flash of an eye is not possible in any real world situation. The ability in the game is fine and people have learned to macro clothing changes with special effects, I think that's far enough.


Tempo
No, thank you. It's bad enough some of our flourishes look like we defy gravity and physics without adding the ability for every dancer to slo-mo or look like Chaplin. I'd like us to move closer to reality, not father away.


Volume
Not sure about the mechanics of this, but I lvoe this idea. I also love the idea of having music play when you get near without having to /listen (and having a mute button).


Dancing props
This has been proposed before, it's a good idea, and the devs even said they liked it and were considering it.


Solo command
Better yet, let musicians play while moving, unless of course they're playing a stationary instrument. When's the last time you saw a musician play on stage, plant their feet and never move through the performance? Of course, this might be very hard to implement, who knows.

Play music on a mount.
Ok I admit it ever since I heard mounts would be in the game I have had dreams of riding across the plains strumming my Mandoviol and singing “brave brave sir robin”. What I propose is this. We should be able to play any non stationary instrument (the piano and the drums for example) while mounted. We could flourish as well, but this is a show only deal no music EXP and no healing. One could argue of course that what’s the harm in getting music EXP and I agree but since you can’t walk and play this would be a privlige only for mounted entertainers an that hardly seems fair



/Mirror
This command simply switches to the mirror opposite of base dances and flourishes. Basic’s famous Moonwalk 3left/6right/3left would be inverted to 3right/6left/3right. This gives us better drift correction (all dances currently tend to drift right) but much more options for shows with multiple dances. A pair of dancers doing formal flourish 1 would split in opposite direction for big wow factor and since it mirrors the base dance too they would also bases dance away from each other. This command simply must be a toggle for it to be of much good IE /mirror on /mirror off. If the DEVs are extremely kind /mirror should be for the next flourish only leaving the base dance unchanged.



Interrupt flourish on move
If you move while dancing you stop dancing, but the current flourish completes its animation. It did not work this way in beta and I would like it changed back. If I’m in the middle of a long formal flourish and move or /stopdance to scold someone or other such role play it is silly to have to wait all that time for the flourish to finish. I want to stop NOW on a dime.

One button to control them all
I would like a special effects button that opens a menu similar to the /startdance menu to use any special effect in our arsenal then after clicking ok the button will fire that effect until it is changed. I have a lot of stuff on my hot bar and this would help make things easier. Sure I can /smoke1 or /dazzle, but Im lazy and want the special effects uber button of power.



More types of entertainment
This one I am sure will take a while to get, but lets start compiling a list now. Juggling, Sword swallowing, Fire breathing and acrobatics all come to mind.



Outfit capsules
I would love to see an entertainer only option of storing outfits for instant recall. I know this can sort of be done by macro, but things like shoes become a problem with the instant change skill a dancer could recall an outfit by the game code saying (make entertainer dressed like this) instead of (change the following clothes items). An even better idea would be to give the ability to make these capsules for anyone to use. Keep in mind the capsules have to allow enough room for; shoes, top, bottom, jacket, gloves, left wrist, right wrist, head and neck to be a total outfit change. Also if the ability is given as a cartable by tailors keep in mind devs we change clothes a LOT and carry a lot of clothes so a one shot item just won’t due! This could also be an entertainer droid function as well.



Tempo
/tempo 1-10 would simple change the playback speed of the base dance and flourishes to up or down tempo a dance. Now 10 levels may be much but you get the idea. In the case of temp default should be current dances are midrange like 5 or 6 so we can up and down tempo.



Volume
/volume 1-10 would make an instrument sound louder or softer. Ten levels may be too much but you get the idea. Default would be all current instruments are at volume 10 therefore they could only get softer. Otherwise everyone will just turn them up to 10 anyhow.



Dancing props
Let’s get a list going on what we want ravenmist already said the DEVS were interested in this. Hoops (different sizes), Ribbons (different lengths), Boa (both feather and snakes),Canes. Also let us have taps for those times when there is no musician in the room we can tap dance clickity click click.



Solo command
For musicians the /solo command simple makes him take 4 steps forward while still playing.

i really like that idea, but instead of having to type the colours you want for it, or having to do /smoke 1... ect give us the options to choose the colours we want. ie: if a dancer wants black and red for dazzle they can choose it, or black smoke for smokebomb we can choose it. stuff like that.

thats in my one button to controll them all idea that we can have one button to pre-select the effect and color that buttone will fire when pressed.

Brave Brave Sir robin is to be played while traipsing across the countryside with someone manging coconuts together. ::grins:: ot while riding a horse...

I like most of the things up there. The capsule thing is interesting, I can see how it would free up the hotkeys but it sounds like it would be a pain in the neck. But a droid to carry clothing would be nice. So that I don't have my inventory entirely full yest still only have a few outfits (despite efficient optimization of making the most outfits I could with those clothes) We may not be able to do a macro and CALL from the droid, but to sit and change what's in my inventory with what's in the droid would be nice.



The speeding and slowing seems like it would be a pain in the neck too.


The juggler/sword dancer etc shouldn't be necessarily new professions, just new abilities. Sort of falling into the props category.


Color change is a great idea. Mirroring too


New dancers and songs- of course!


I'd like to see a way to break up the 'all master dancers look the same' problem. perhaps utilizing the idea of the special flourish that uses the stored dance exp we get. Instead of a one time effect, perhaps each time we max our dancing exp we could purchase a new dance (From several choices, in no particular order.)



So say Tekoa maxesher exp andgoes and buys.... (for sake of argument) Hula. Her exp drops right back to where it was when she used her exp in dancing techn iques and knowledge.


At the same time Sultrina goes and buys ...oh.... darn... um.. Belly dancing. ^-^ Her exp drops to the same spot. But both characters had the ability to purchase either of those two but they chose something different. They were able to chose between 5 dances or more. But to get each dance they need to get all that exp back. But it throws in

Fun! >.>Ya know.... And it would take a while to get to each dance, but that's okay ^-^ And we could buy them in any order. (they don't need to add any bonuses, just some nice new dances)

-placeable spotlights in different colores it will give cantinas and hotels a more unique appearance and a better illumination of the dancer (dancing in a circle of torches shows what I am talking about a bit)


-dancer only clothes and props with certifications


-faction dances they should double the healing and buff speed for the overt and covert audience but give a TEF. Perhaps to get for factionpoints.


-more special effects


-audible songs

Great thread, some of these ideas are already on our issues/wishlist. Keep em coming tho, I probably won't add them to this list but having more for the next one isn't a bad thing. After this thread has been around a while I might see about grabbing some of the ideas and bouncing them off our dev.

Yeah Ravenmist!


Thats the general idea is to get all this stuff in one place, some of the hot issues are pushing ideas that are acualy entertaining down. Thus dreamwroks can act as a dream catcher <giggle>
