Thread: Cover Charge
He're's what I noticed about today's patch:
Performers can now set themselves to have a cover charge. Use the command /covercharge . You can reset it by /covercharge 0 or null)
Audience members who "watch" or "listen" to the performer will get a pop up box asking if they wish to pay the cover charge.
Once the performance is complete, the performer will receive the cover charge funds when the audience member stops listening/watching.
More than one audience member at a time may pay the cover charge and view the performance.
Anyone know how this works when you are grouped with other entertainers who are also charging a cover charge?
There were a number of questions raised by the dancer forum which I and leno were able to answer over here
Basically they can go round the group to find the cheapest entertainer and pay them, if that is you great, if not then you get nothing. (Edit: oops on the clicky)

If you couldn't listen/watch, then it would be a fight for people undercutting each other.
*puts pinky into the corner of his mouth*
one......MILLION.....credits....
*looks left and right*
I mean....one.....HUNDRED.....BILLION credits....
*looks around*
Actually, I don't think I'll be using this at all. I prefer waiting to be tipped, you'll probably make more that way anyways.
Dejah doesn't charge.
Tips are always welcome of course.

No point to it except to make people resent entertainers more, and I won't add to the hatred even if it did give me more credits (which it wouldn't).
Most of the real entertainers I have talked to intend to stick with tips and not have a cover charge. I'm guessing the buffbots will use the cover charge feature... if so that may help the live entertainers in the long run. But it remains to be seen. Interesting to watch though.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this spins out too.

I'm actually betting that the bots specifically *won't* set a cover charge, and that they will loudly spam /shout FREE INSPIRATION BUFFS JUST WATCH ME or some such. Guess it depends on how many people out there resent paying for entertainer services, and how easy it is to find someone with no set charge. After the initial post-CU shock, I've started seeing tons and tons of AFK masters just left in the cantinas constantly again.
How many times have we seen someone post here asking for a buffbot macro for their "wife" who just wanted to "help out by giving free mind buffs?"
I expect to get a LOT fewer tips now either way. oh well. not like I ever relied on them anyway.
