Yesterday I had 1000 bf 700 mind wounds was overt, armed and armored. On my server if you are overt you don't go anywhere unarmored and unarmed. I spent an hour looking for a live dancer who might need healing xp. I went to a few different cities and the places where I did find dancers would not alow me in. I was not fighting in any of the cities where I went to try to be healed and would have refrained from fighting unless attacked. I was not alowed in the player city cantinas and after quite some time I gave it up and went to my guild's buff bot. I'm appauled that no one could figure out how to RP helping me. The biggest slap in the face was that the first place I went was apparently the hometown of a friend of mine whom I've known since release.
This might belong in the Starsider forums and it might be a Starsider problem but I'd really like some discussion on why Rp'ers would purposefully shun someone who is trying to RP with them simply because they participate in the GCW. All the time we chastise folks for using buff bots and afk'ers but after running into SEVERAL live dancers I couldn't find anyone willing to heal me. I'd like to suggest that entertainers in general take a look at thier policies and see if maybe we aren't creating the market for the bots by our rather sour attitude towards fighters.
I understand why fighters are bitter towards entertainers. They resent thier need for us. Is the opposite also true?

I don't understand the no GCW or no Force Sensitivity thing either. Seems alot of rp-er's bring non Star Wars themes into the game. I'm fine with that however, this is still Star Wars.It would be nice if all themes were incorporated.
I'm always in need of a dance buff. If you need one...just yell. We can swap.

Was this a "I don't heal GCW/FS participants" or was it an "I'm Imp/Reb and don't help the other side"?
If it was the first part then I agree that is ridiculous. I don't remember the dancers in any cantina from the movies asking for ID before performing for the patrons. If people are that bitter perhaps they need to ask why they play this game. I can understand not wanting to take a TEF to buff you but healing doesn't cause those issues.
If it was an alignment issue then I can understand not wanting to aid and abet the enemy. Although I play neutral so find no issuesin healing any personin my RP I can see someone strongly aligned with one side of the GCW doing this as valid RP.

Too bad you didn't find me on your way.
I would have gladly healed you, even over and from the oposite faction...
Add me to your bookmark list, and if it happends again, just give me a call. I have trouble to travel tho (my computer is really slow), but If you are on dant and I'm available, I would be happy to give a hand.

Silly SillyOne. I would have danced for you no problem. I dont think you would have had a problem if you went to theed. They're plenty of live dancers and musicians playing all day and night.

Just my two credits here.
This doesn't sound like a dancer issue, so much as it is a server-specific overt faction/RP issue. Each server will have different feels for how the communities there treat overt characters, how player cities react to those things, etc. This sounds more like you were turned away from player cities on Starsider, rather than generally shunned by the cross-server dancing community as a whole. I don't know of any leveling dancers that would turn away the healing XP for 1k BF and 700 mind wounds, unless it was specifically due to a personal orlocal server standard of what to do regarding faction.
Really seems more like a Starsider galaxy forum question to me. /shrug

The only problem you would have had if you were on my server andwalking into my town as an overt Imp would be getting out alive once the local miltia caught wind of your presence! I RP a covert Rebel in an overt Rebel city (Veritas, Naboo, Bria). I do politely refuse to buff overt Imperials, however, I do not go so far as to refuse to heal BF and mind wounds. As a master dancer, I don't need the xp (heck, I capped a while ago), but I still wouldn't RP to that extreme.

While I am sorry you could not find someone to help you out, I agree with the people who say that it is a valid RP / GCW standpoint to NOT buff / heal someone of the opposite faction. I hear Starsider is high on the RP scale, in which case, it is totally acceptable for them to have made that choice in that situation.
But some of us out there will heal individuals ofeither faction, as long as you haven't done anything to offend us personally, don't plan to kill us, and promise not to park your rancor/torton/other large petin the middle of the cantina.

I was overt rebel however, every place I went was neutral with several purple as well as blue dots hanging around. It wasn't that I couldn't get an imperial entertainer to heal me. It was that I could get NO entertainer to even alow me into the cantina. At first I thought, maybe it's a Starsider thing but the cantinas are owned and operated by Entertainers (for the most part) and I figured it might be a nice discussion regarding cantina policies and perhaps we can review some common practices andmaybe alow for a bit of tolerance between fighters and rp'ers. I do not feel those two play styles need to be mutually exclusive. In fact I really think that the best game experience to be had is by merging them.
Anyway, nice discussion going here. Carry on.

You should put me on your friends list, so that when I am on, you always have someone that will heal you.
And I'll even make sure it's safe for you.
As for not healing as Neutral, your guess is as good as mine. I personally won't heal/buff Imperials (overt or covert and known to be). That's just me, though..although I know my sister Nosmina is the same way.

It is odd that the 'purple dots' of other Rebels wouldn't heal you.
I would show up as a 'blue dot' on your radar since I am usually covert when entertaining. I still wouldn't heal you.
The cantina's may be owned and run by entertainers, but the city may not be, and we all have to abide by the city rules.
I usually RP very strick rules about only associating with Imperials, but I do perform with covert Rebles (you know who you are
) on a kind of 'don't know don't tell' policy.
You can't really have an MMORPG (note the RPG) and expect people to compromise their RP.
What you should do, is find some Rebel entertainers who are willing to heal you overt or not. Put those entertainers on your friend's list, and contact them when you need healing. If the entertainer has to travel to your location, make sure you compensate them for that and give 'em a nice tip.
I am sympathetic to your dilema, but if you'd have joined the right faction you'd have no problem finding heals

My own personal thing is I used to never buff overt imperials. But, my rules have since changed considering that even though I may have an RP reason to not buff imperials, I am sorta "meta" playing at this point. I feel if the human behind the toon is considerate enough to ask a live dancer to buff them, I will most certainly oblige. And, at least on my server, the only place I can sell a buff anymore is in Theed, because every place else is overrun by buffbots. And, Theed, as we all know, is an imperial town. So, I know for a fact that at this point, I am buffing way more imperials than I am rebels. (I'm rebel.) But, I'm sorry. In my mind, a rebel who uses a buffbot is more of an "enemy" at this point than an imperial who doesn't. Because, after all, this is just a game. And, someone who wants to reward people who are not playing the game is not someone I want to have any dealings with.
It's almost like this galaxy divided thing is not reb vs. imp anymore...it's ethical player vs. unethical player. Harsh, I know, but that's the way I feel. So, I will always buff anybody who asks at this point, rebel or imperial, overt or covert. I do applaud, however, those people who are still able to stay in character as far as buffing is concerned...as long as it's actually in character as opposed to just being an ass.
I obviously wasn't around when you had your particular problem. If it was a case that everyone so happened to be the opposite faction and they didn't want to buff you, then I would consider that valid for the most part. If they didn't seem to have a real reason and were just being rude or obnoxious, which is what it sounds like, well I think that's uncalled for. I hate hearing stories about live entertainers who act rude sometimes. I mean, for as much as I like to talk about how the entertainers are there for people, I do realize that there are a whole bunch who simply aren't. I can't control how they act, obviously. But, sometimes I just want to shake some sense into people for not realizing how acting a certain way continues to damage our reputations.
