What do you all think might be a better profession to go with, one that might get less.. I am thinking Riflewoman.

I have the same dilemma right now...I think basically if I want Drygo to stay half combat/half entertainer, then he's going to have to pick up a ranged weapon. Hybrids simply cannot be tanks. But, if you're at the back, you can survive and contribute with ranged weapons like rifles, carbines, pistols, flame throwers, etc.

I mean, it still ruins my vision of what Drygo is. However, it's probably the best compromise there is.

I think Yes, I am going to go with Rifleman, when I first started playing I had wanted to be a Dancer/Rifleman I had this grand idea of being kinda like Mata Hari.. getting in close because I was a pretty dancer.. then Sniping off high ranking officials... goof stuff like that. Heehee
Besides, I hear riflman is a good combat profession

Doctor or Combat Medic. You'll always be needed in a group even if they are quite a bit higher level than you. Your level will also be high enough level that you can survive a trip to a player city.
For a mixed template character wanting to bevaluable ingroup combat, definitely go with a healer. I'm seeing a lot of groups stopping in at the cantinas looking for healers and they're seeming harder to come by and a group just can't go without a healer.
If I were playing a mixed char right now, I'd probably go Pistoleer or a combination of Pistoleer and Dirty Fighting (Smuggler) but I'm really not into playing a support char at all. The choice of weapon is based on my own preference of pistols over rifle or carbine. In the new system, the ranged classes seem more fun to me than melee. I've respec'ed my TKM/MDoc to Smuggler, Pistoleer and will go up the defenses branch in Squad Leader asher pistol xp slowly builds up (I only play her about once a week). Although, if someone really wants to be a tank and support, I'd highly recommend TKM/Doc as healing seems to be pulling agro much better than taunt atm.
Rifles definitely rock! Just be aware of a few things when making these decisions:
1) Unless they were fixed last night the most powerful shots for Rifles are broken. Sniper shot and Cover/Conceal shot are broken and have been broken since the CU went live. We're hoping for a fix but so far.... This doesn't stop us from being effective but when taking on very high level and dangerous peopleor creatures there's a huge difference between a damage attack hitting them for 1200 points of damage and one that hits them for 3600 points of damage.
2) Ranged and healers get attacked more frequently. Rifles have a knockdown (it looks like you're hitting them with the butt of your rifle which is a great moment for some jokes if your rifle is nearly as big as you are) so this helps but for a dancer/healer combo... you might be in serious jeopardy here.
If you go with a ranged profession be certain to let your hunt partners make the first attack. If you fire first you'll draw the full attention of the target. Also, consider getting a combat droid or non-ch pet that can help keep the target at range for you. In fact a combat droid or non-ch pet might be very useful for those who have no combat skills to help defend them when they are traveling.

Well, the question should not be what the best profession is but what you want to be...
I agree with you that a single master TKs defenses can not keep up with the tanking abilities of double masters, simply because they have ridiculous high amounts of melee defense and ranged defense. But that's not the point. If you like the style of TK you should be. It doesn't matter wether another member in a group is a little more powerful, what matters is if you have fun doing it. A good working group is better than the sum of its members anyway.
A little hint: The best way to boost your defenses within the range of double masters if you are already TKM is to pick up the swords defense line from swordsman. I am not sure if I'd do this personaly, I woud rather add some punch (swords offense). But if you want to be a tank you should be able to be it that way. Anyway, this (and comparable templates leave you with 4 skillpoints at level 59, assuming. The only thing you can do with those two points then is get musicianship 1 (rock rocks) and image designing 1 (if you feel like cutting beards ... ).
But most importantly: Don't let some numbers tell you who you are!
