Thread: Hold the Devs accountable. And, report the broken dance.

Hiya Dancers

I took a break from the forums for a bit, to cool off regarding this Quest. Sure enough, they put it in Live like our Feedback was never given. Now it's time to hold them to their jobs, our stuff is Live (though we didn't even get mentioned in the Update Notes).

The dance is broken.

Broken content pushed to Live deserves to be fixed. Please PM any Dev you can think of, and request that the broken dance be fixed. Please post in the Hotfix Issues Thread and tell them that the dance is broken.

Expect nothing to happen, as we've already been shown how much our feedback and input is worth, but do what needs to be done. /bug the dance in-game. Every day for the next month. PM Devs. Post in the issues thread. Do all you can to communicate that this is broken, and that it's unacceptable. We need to do our part, regardless of the results we receive.

I'm still appalled they didn't even notify the public of the Quest. Apparently a lot of people don't even know the Quest is Live, which is a shame - if the Devs took the time to do it, and it's supposed to be new content for us, why was there no mention in the Patch Notes, on the Loading screen, or in the Launchpad.

The Devs dropped the ball big time on this. Call them on it. And don't let up. If this profession is important to you, express it in a PM to a Dev. Report the broken dance. /bug it early, /bug it often. We need to make them realize that they can't treat us like this. We need to make them understand, no matter how long it takes, that no profession (let alone 2 in this game) deserves to be treated like this.

Panthu, I'd like you to communicate to the Devs (provided everyone here agrees) that they owe us an explanation. No profession in this game should get treated like we were during the testing and implementation phase of our new content. It was complete communication breakdown, and we got broken code implemented to Live, and never heard one word from the Devs about:

1) When the content would go Live (even after the initial release date came and went - we just got left scratching our heads)

2)If the broken things would be fixed (status of our concerns regarding the content - i.e. broken dance)

3)If requiring xp for new content is a new thing for everybody in the game, or if they just like penalizing those us who are seeking Force Sensitivity (a valid concern and very troubling to have ignored)

4)The fact that our Quest went Live without so much as a peep in the Update Notes, sovery few people in the game population actually know they're out there is sad - any time they spent on these is going to waste since few people know they're actually in the game. What a disappointment.

5)Why the Feedback Thread seems to have never been touched by a Dev again, after the initial posting of it.

In summary, the Devs failed at every possible development step with this Quest. I mean, they didn't do anything for us. No profession (let alone TWO) should ever be treated in this way again with their new content, and I'm on a mission to ensure this never happens again - anyone who pays for this game deserves better. We got whatever scraps the Devs had around for our Quest, with no apparent work performed on it, and no notification to the game community that a new song and dance is even available for Entertainers.

They owe us an explanation, at the very least.

Thanks for your time, everyone. Raise a stink, the Devs deserve it.

Y'know, I may not have the stupid new dance, but I know for a fact that the base dance of formal, formal2, lyrical, lyrical2, and popular are still all buggy. I just recently noticed that popular is buggy, but popular2 is fine. I'll be /bug-ing all those for awhile.

Did anyone else notice that the only patch notes originally on the 13th were the shiny new Launchpad? The one that crashes about half the time fo rme....

Guess that's where all the developers were that weren't on JTL....

I don't care if it's the dance, the client, the lag or whatever other bogus excuse they want to come up with this week. The new content they just gave us looks bad, and we're all about the visuals, baby. Maybe the dance itself isn't broken, maybe they need to fix a bug somewhere else. All I know is that as far as I'm concerned, they screwed up releasing this in its current state for whatever reason.

Posted in the hotfix, thanks for posting this idea. If the base dance is broken, the dance is broken in my view. I actually like the base dances in the ones that are working properly.

I would report it if I could get the new shiny launchpad to cooperate

Oh, and sadly I cannot report this bug. Gonna take me a while to finish the quests given the number of people who need to watch me, and I can't really report a bug I'm not personally experiencing, ya know?

lol

I had to CTRL+ALT+DEL and end process on Launchpad.exe a bunch of times to get the updates to work. When it's working properly, the updates happen pretty fast. If it just freezes on progress, end the process and restart the launchpad. Worked for me. I had to do it about 10 to 15 times, though. Eventually all the updates will download.

Not sure what you mean by "itself." If you mean just the flourishes, then okay. But, as the base step is broken, I feel that the dance is broken. But thanks for your post, I'll clarify now that what I mean is that the base step to the dance is broken. Whenever you're between flourishes, your audience sees some weird things, heh.

Just wanted to voice my opinion on how all of this transpired, and communicate how/where to appropriately hold the Devs accountable for what they put to Live. Other stuff that goes Live that has issues gets a bit of attention when there's problems. If more people report the base step is broken, now is the time to have it looked at if they ever will. Our timing is unfortunate because JTL is in full gear right now, so we need to be vocal if people want to impress on the Devs that we still need that base step fixed.

For all we know, fixing that base step for those dances might prevent people from randomly sliding 40m from their chair after they sit down (server lag regarding character position).

Exactly. I'm holding off until the dance is achieved. /bug the dance if you get it, and confirm that the base step is still broken to the audience - or if you're an audience member to someone dancing it, and confirm that it's bugged. Otherwise, a PM to the Devs regarding it, or the treatment of us during the Quest's development, will be the best route to take for those of us unhappy with how all of this turned out.

Should you get the dance, or watch someone dancing it, and see that it's broken - then /bug it.

I already sent my share of angry PMs yesterday.

There are a couple of reasons why this won't get fixed. Mostly though it's because the people that actually care make up the smallest percentage of users.

They don't want us in this game. Our money isn't good enough.
