I have only been master CH for a couple weeks now but am finding it to be so unfulfilling lately. So much time is going into hunting for these rares that I am having no luck with. I am not complaining about the odds, or my bad luck as I know many people that have spent considerably more time looking for them than me. The thing that gets me though is that I don't appear to be getting _anything_ done with my somewhat limited play time. 3 hours of searching for a bull, or a gps and no money made, no loot found, no xp gained anymore. I have taken to the awful habit of leaving my pets in the town so that I can go clear a bull lair quicker while checking for a baby. I didn't want to become the type that only uses their pets as a means to get higher level missions, but I fear that is exactly what I am becoming. Maybe I just need to break from the grind of looking for the rares and take some powerful pets out to play some.
Do any of you others use your pets in places like the GEO Caves or on groups of nightsisters (the rangers/tamers etc not the elders). I guess I am just trying to work the pets into my gaming experience in more than just a trophy way.
Any inspiration is appreciated

I hear what you are saying, we are in pretty bad shape atm. I use my pets to make millions. Although I am also a MRM, without my pets tanking abilities, I would certainly get knocked down, dizzied, bled, and eventually killed a lot more by Jantas. As it is now, I send in my pet with 60% kinetic resist, get all Jantas to agro him, spam strafe shot 2, and finish the Jantas and lair off in a matter of mintues. As mentioned without that tanking ability, there is no way I would have been able to collect so much Janta Blood for my guilds Doc, or put together the Blue Rug Loot Kit, or helped others with theres. Heck I even sell the good stone knifes on the bazzar for 6k and get it!
Since I didn't want to give up MCH I started a new toon on a different server. Every time I went out into the wild with the non-ch I say babies that I really wanted to tame. It was driving me crazy. Although I have hunted rares, I personally find it hard to justifiably commit the time, so I really don't. Hunting rares to me is really boring. Making millions is fun, but can get tedious. Since I am established, a millionaire, and a MRM/MCH I often protect my local BE when he is sampling, help friends grind their combat professions with my pets tanking, or I even hangout in Mos Eisely once in awhile helping newbs hunt, or protecting them from PVP predators looking for a TEF.
Good Luck,
Heineken
P.S. I'm not so good with NS but use pets at Geo's all the time.

Thanks maiden,
I think when I get home I am going to dump my ranger tree and get my medic skills back and go try some big stuff
What pets do you use in the geo labs?

There is no denying the pets I use for combat are mostly BE. I have a couple of Gurrecks with I think some sort of Rancor DNA that gives them 60% resist to kinetic attacks. Since Jantas are using specials, I usually rotate in all my pets at some point, but focus on the ones with the best kinetic resits. These cats work great in the Geo's too, cause they are small , don't get in the way, and can buy me a few minutes to take the enemies mind down.
On a side note, i think that pet armor should be introduced for all natural pets only, to give them the equivalent resists that BE's can produce, but that's a different topic.
Hope this helps a little.

Oh yeah, I am MRM/MCH with med skills
, but with my uber comp, and buffs, I really only use them to heal pets. In my guild there is always someone that needs some hide, blood, bone etc. This is where I come in, I am also the official Noob Guide on hunts

The only reason i'm still keeping MCH is that i hate not to be able to call my loved pets that have helped me through thick and thin for a long time.
At this time i never use my CH abilities other then parade my pets, i don't fight with pets anymore, if i want to fight i would just master a combat profession, get buffed up and go on a killingspree and get done with it quicker then i could if i called my pets and had them help me out.

Actually i'm still hoping that i'll someday find a bull rancor baby to tame. Apart from that i like my pets of course and CH is a good reason to keep expl and hunting tree.
Although i'd like it if more people needed ch, for getting them good wild creatures or more training stuff. But with the Be tanks the first wish is pretty much off this world.

I enjoy CH because I like the exploration aspect. I actually like taking my character out in the middle of no where and just searching for creatures. I also like using them in combat. My combat style goes well with CH. I gave it up a while ago to hologrind, but now that is over I am making my way back up the ranks towards MCH and loving every moment of it.

Man I gave up the rare hunts early on. It was just too disappointing, boring and slow.....for me.
I keep MCH for a couple of reasons. Probably the main one is that I really enjoy playing this class. I can solo explore the planets then if I need help, just call em out and have some fun. My pets are also very helpful in helping me level other combat professions, due to the ability to group and pull high level missions as well as being great tanks.
I've never bought into the whole, CH must be played a certain way routine....such as not leaving pets in a town while I go fight. To me, this is no more wrong than calling your pets into a battle to help save your bacon. They are there for us and I appreciate their help. They don't get bored or tired or hungrywaiting in town while I run the missions. THey just wait patiently for me to return....and I do this a lot...especially when I'm broke.
Another reason I keep MCH is cuz I'm afraid I'll miss it when it's gone....and I really don't wanna have to do the grind again. That was bad back in the day when we got twice the xp for having 2 pets attacking.....I can't imagine how painful it is now.

If hunting for rares is starting to make CH unfullfilling, stop. I know I may sound like a hypocrite, but hear me out.
I am an obsessive compulsive. My searching going on for this Bull Rancor is ridiculous, I know it is. But I feel my character won't be complete until I get one. It's not a matter of getting a rare, or the stats, it's a matter of getting a large rancor I can look at, and I can RP with. I had to set limits on how many missions I do per day. I don't exceed 6-10 Bull Rancor lairs a day, even though when I pass by a lair, I feel compelled to kill it. Or when I stop lairs for the day, the little voice keeps telling me that I better do more. Don't let something like the rares get you down. If we are lucky, the spawns will be raised a little bit hopefully.
What keeps me as a CH is taking out my favorite pets and Rping with them, or just checking them out. Or knowing that it's just me and my companions against the Empire.
I didn't join CH for the power, I joined for the Rancors...

I was a Master CH since the first couple of months the game came out..and I have not let it go since. I was a Ranger, Swordsman, Pistoleer..and now a TKA. I have never thought of dropping CH until recently and it is so hard to even think that. I just love the pets in the game. I am hoping for more to tame, more to ride, and more to do with CH...but for now I will still stay for the pets I Role Play with.
