I have a rancor, given to me by a friend who was quiting the game, and it's fully grown and level 1. It's the same as a normal rancor, (except the level). Is this a bug? or a really really good bio-engineer pet? If i use it, the DEVs won't kick me out of the game, right?

it's a bug from a few patches back. BE'ed pets never got beyond Level 1.

Technically it's an exploit.

bah! It's worthless! why don't you give it to me

I think the technical term for it is "pre-nerf" and no, it's not an exploit. There are many many items out there that are pre-nerf and ppl still use them (weapons come to mind). So use your ranc to your heart's content. Don't sell it. It's almost priceless.

Actually, "Pre-Nerf" implies that it was once meant to work like that, which it wasn't. It is an Exploit and I recommend you Destroy it immediatly. It is an insult to the CH proffession. (How would you like it if I could give people Doctor Buffs, use Flamethrowers and Track animals without a single skill point spent) I bought one of those monstroceties for 500k and deleted as soon as the trade window closed. One less bug in the game.

Personally Evilnerf, that's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Just because it got a nerf doesn't make it an exploit. If the devs wanted to turn this into an exploit they would make it uncallable, just like they did when they changed the non-ch max pet from lv. 15 to lv. 10. You are a purest that is so blinded by your own ego that you can't even see the true light. It's people like you who preach the GOOD word so hard you can't hear the music in the background that WE are all enjoying. Let the guy have a break. It's basically a trophy. The dev's know it wont last forever and they are content that it will eventually reach 00/100 VIT if you use itat all. That's how they weed this stuff out.

It's not like he got a double slice or duped it and has a vendor full of them. Feel free to back off your holy quest to rid the game of what you call "exploits". It's bad enough we have the dev's nerfing every aspect of the game on the monthly patch.

Heck, there's BE's on Eclipse making non-ch pets (lv. 9-10) with AR1, 10K HAM, and 50-60% kin resist. Now, that's a freaking crime. But hell, I'd never buy one because I have a good feeling these are going to be uncallable soon. Dude has been making them for a few months and no dev has called it exploiting. What to do?!? Spend my millions buying and deleting them or just wait till they are uncallable?

What do you think, Jim Jones?

Well, technically, this is an exploit. It is taking advantage of a bug in the game and that is an exploit. It is no different than using the server boundries to call all of your pets out at one time. This bug was caused by the BE update publish. When a BE creates a pet deed the actual pet is not generated with the stats of the deed until it is tamed. Since all of the BE pets were overhauled and changed in the publish any deed created prior to the publish but not trained from deed until after the publish stays at level 1 because the stats on the deed were for the old creature database and do not match with the new one.

You can split hairs on the exploit part. I have seen non-ch with level 50 gurrecks and rancors out. I have seen Novice CH with management 3 with 2 rancors out and I have seen Masters with 3 level 50 gurrecks out. All of which is exploiting. So, if you can not controlthat level of normal pet, you are exploiting. If you can control that level and use it as if it was that level.... then no, you are not exploiting. It is the exploiters that are willing to pay millions for this type of creature. I do not think there are enough of them out there for SOE to devote the time to trying to fix. I do think that if a CSR sees you with 3 level 50's out at once you will be told about it.

beforetelling"exploit" to the level 1 (0) pet,I invite you all to send an ingame ticket and ask if you have the right to use it.. you will be surprised by the answer ( if you get one ).

i had a lvl 1(0) blurrg with 10k HAM and light armor i bought for 50k. i tamed and trained it but never used it in combat even once. i figured it was an exploit but wasn't sure so i submitted a ticket. never received a reply after a weekso i just deleted it to make room for other pets. oh well. like evilnerf said, one less bug.

i talked to a CSR the other day and he specifically told me that all pets with a ridiculously low CL will be removed from your inventory and deleted. this IS an exploit. do what you want with them but be careful, and don't **edit** and moan when a dev takes it away. on valcyn, one of the richest guys in the game had a couple of these and they took em away. he quit. it's just best not to put yourself in that position.

Use it at your own risk.

I had a dewback in my backpack from ages ago when a friend brought it to me to be trained as a mount. The problem was, the level indicated by the stats put it way out of non-CH territory. (4000 HAM, give or take)

I got CH back on that character a while back and went ahead and tamed it, figuring it'd be a nice tank to use.

Level 1(0)

Its still there, I've trained it, and its full grown, but I haven't done anything with it yet. Its not uber, and I'm a CH, so screw it. I've got a bitchin' pet well within my command limits.
