Thread: Level 1 rancor? help please...

The thing to do is use a bit of common sense with these pets. The Rancor should be CL 50 - and if so marked would be totally "legal". If you use it as a level 50 Rancor then you aren't exploiting. So long as the total CL of pets you have out don't exceed your allowed limit (70 at master), you aren't exploiting the bug.

It only becomes exploiting when you call both the bugged rancor and another pet that would exceed your control limit if the rancor wasn't bugged (2 or 3 rancors for instance!).

Well, technically, this is an exploit. It is taking advantage of a bug in the game and that is an exploit. It is no different than using the server boundries to call all of your pets out at one time. This bug was caused by the BE update publish. When a BE creates a pet deed the actual pet is not generated with the stats of the deed until it is tamed. Since all of the BE pets were overhauled and changed in the publish any deed created prior to the publish but not trained from deed until after the publish stays at level 1 because the stats on the deed were for the old creature database and do not match with the new one.

You can split hairs on the exploit part. I have seen non-ch with level 50 gurrecks and rancors out. I have seen Novice CH with management 3 with 2 rancors out and I have seen Masters with 3 level 50 gurrecks out. All of which is exploiting. So, if you can not controlthat level of normal pet, you are exploiting. If you can control that level and use it as if it was that level.... then no, you are not exploiting. It is the exploiters that are willing to pay millions for this type of creature. I do not think there are enough of them out there for SOE to devote the time to trying to fix. I do think that if a CSR sees you with 3 level 50's out at once you will be told about it.

You, my friend, are an Idiot. For one:it was not a nerf. It was a Fix. lvl 0-1 pets where ALWAYS a bug. They where NEVER meant to be usable. It was an exploit to make them. It is an exploit to use them. The Devs are slowly fixing this bug completely (Removing the pets). This is the only bug in the game that Ive seen that can be fixed by the PLAYERS. But do they? no.

Two: As a Fellow CH you would think that you would want the Pet exploits to be fixed ASAP. Our proffession is broken enough without dealing with wannabe CHs who shell out a couple mill.

First : you have no clue. The level 1 (0) pets are legit clones made before the DE revampe but tamed after the revampe.

they where made to be legitimate. but they ended up being Lvl 1. If you can find find proof that the Devs meant to make all those animals lvl 1 then I will cancel my account today. They are a Bug. I might have been a bit harsh when I said that their creation was an exploit. The creation was an accident that has since been exploited by the players.

I agree but when I sent a ticket about the level 1 issue and if using this pet was an exploit I got a none answer ( we are aware of this bug etc etc ).

I just want an official ( SOE ) statement aboutthem or like an above poster said, when start the exploit.

OK first of all - I'm new to the CH profession (but not the game). That being said... I would hardly call this an exploit. If it was an exploit and the devs wanted these creatures gone.. guess what.. he wouldnt have it (or it wouldnt be useable). It's quite easy for the devs to modify anything they dont want people to use.

Example.. soon after the initial release of the game there was an instance where low-level meatlumps and similar NPC's were dropping really good laser rifles as loot. When they fixed the bug.. guess what.. I still had my rifle but everytime I equipped it, I got a message that said something like "This weapon is beyond your range and is no longer effective" (or something like that). This was for anyone who used the rifles.. no matter what their level. Meaning that I could still use it.. but it wasnt worth anything but change from a junk dealer (which we didnt have at the time).

I can't believe half of the things I'm reading here...

Here's how to tell if something is an exploit!

Use the word "fair" in a sentence concerning both points.

I'll do it for the problem here:

Is it fair that a Creature Handler must spend 106 skill points to call a rancor and a guy can buy a rancor and use it with zero skill points?

Be honest, and you'll see if it's an exploit or not.

I have a level 1(0) bol that is mountable...it spends most of it's time in my datapad, or loaned to a Novice CH.

I agree. While itsa bug, its hardly an exploit. And if we deleted or refused to useeverything that wasbugged/exploitable in this game, we would all be AFK spammers. Nothing in the core gameplay was altered or bypassed, it was created within the limits specified. If the dev's cared about it that much, it woulnd't still be in the game. Enjoy the hell out of it.

You need to be at least novice CH to use a level 1 (0) pet.

PS : if I use the word "fair" in my sentence Rifleman fire speed should be capped at 3sec, CM should be removed from the game and so on...this game is all but fair.
