Quest starting point: Jabba Palace

NPC mission coordinator: Malakili

I created an oppinion poll earlier this week to get a response to how fellow creature handlers viewed Jabba the Hutt as a Pet Collector and creature enthusiast. Using Malakili as the npc Mission coordinator I propose the creation of quest based on ch acquiring pets in the wild and turning them into Malakili for profit. A badge system would also be created where ch would earn badges and trophies for their efforts in addition to the credits.

The list of creatures would be specific and the reward would be based on the difficulty level in cl combined with the difficulty of finding.

When you first talk to Malakili he addresses you with the following

"I am Malakili, care taker of Jabba the Hutt's creatures. Jabba the hutt has decreed bounties are to bepaidto creature handlers for providing creatures to his excellency. The bounty paid will be based on theferocity of the creature as Jabba pays paticularly well for the mostdeadly and exotic creatures of the galaxy."

"Do you offer your service's to the almighty Jabba?"

At this point you would answer yes or no. Malakili would then ask you to find a creature and bring it back to him. There would be no time limit issued for this quest and would be fulfilled as soon as the ch found and tamed the baby.

Here are a list of creatures I think should be possiblyused for this quest

Gnarled RancorArachne Widow

Rancor Blurrg

Arachne Webmaster Merek Deaths'head

Frenzied Graul Mantigrue Screecher

Great Plains Stalker Gaping Spider Queen

Rhoa Kwi Packleader Wild DuneBoar

Bull Rancor Malignant Squill

Gaping spider Hunter Swamp Stalker

Riverside Sulfer Mynock Kilnik Defender

Greater Sludge Panther

Once the creature is tamed you then go toJabbas and turn it in for a financial reward. The financial reward will be determined on thedifficulty in finding the creature for Jabba. Here are some sample reward prices:

Rancor: 100k

Webmaster: 100k

Packleader: 250k

Deaths'head:1 million

Great Plains Stalker: 5 million

Bull Rancor: 10 million

In addition to a monetary reward you would get badges to reward your service to Jabba. Further you would also recieve hunting trophies for your service and the quality of the trophy will increase as you turn in the creatures with higher and higher degree of difficulty to find. If all creatures were turned in you would get a very unique badge with a one of a kindtrophy or creature.

Some Trophy ideas

Skulls from different creatures

Paintings

Statues

A grand prize

Untamable creature that can only be acquired by successfully completeing this quest

The trophies and badges are given regardless if you turn the pet into Mallakili or not. After giving you a potential badge or trophy Mallakili will then offer you a specific amount of credits for the creature and it would be your choice if you chose to sell it. To prevent abuse of this such as a creature handler transfering pets to other ch and they trying to turn it in for the badges or the possible reward, creatures will be given serial numbers and the serial numbers could only be used once. Once that serial number is typed in the number could never be used again for submitting to Jabba.

Another method which i think would work better is u take the mission as you turn in pets and the mission completes itself as you actually tame the baby.

I think this quest would appeal to creature handlers of all diferent experience levels. It would provide novice creature handelrs with goals to obtain as they collect pets for the Jabba quest. It would provide veteran ch with a new challenge as many master ch have already completed their collections and would like a new goal to reach in the game. The best thing about this quest is the creature handlers could keep the pets they tame if they chose to while still getting the badges and trophies to decorate their homes.

I am sure I will edit this many times as oppinions about it start to be posted.

Absolutely brilliant ideas!

I know that CH's have been crying out for CH specific mission terminalsfor some time now, this seems to be a well thought out way of implementing that and providing a nice storyline to back it up.

I expect that a few tweaksmay be suggested (maybe the cash amounts mentioned are a little high?), but I think something like this could only be positive for the class in general.

I think this is a really great idea for ch specific missions, and malakili would be the perfect tie-in. I'm not sure that many ch's would be willing to give up a gps or bull though, given their rarity. One other issue might be that the devs might find that having the choice to keep the creature and still get a reward (ie. the best of both worlds) to be too much of a win-win situation. Everything else sounds great and with a little tweaking this should be relatively easy to implement i would think. Keep up the good work

i would gladly do those and like the idea of having unique trophy's and paintings and such as rewards ... (a painting of Oola maybe???) but i agree on the cash reward ... i think it is a litttle to high .. maybe drop a 0 or two off each one of them and that would be ok...

The cash rewards would never be that high, but I don't think I would take less than 5-10Mil for GPS or BR.

Good idea, but Unless this is a MCH only quest, i didn't really see any low level stuff there for younger CH's.

I think it should be a little bigger, and some more variety... like Jaba wants 6non-ch mounts, or Jaba wants 20 corellian butterflies or womp rats to cause trouble at a royal party.

And then when taming maybe have a tame for Jaba option on the radialand those animals would satck in the data pad or something.

I am just thinking of all the delivery and destroy missions that are the exact same thing with different stories... that's all if we had to tame different animals for differnt things, that way it doesn't get as manotinus.

Maybe a Merek Harvester King and Queen because he wants to breed them and then you get one from the litter?

And I think most should be rigged for babies, you could have a few that are just find these mixed in, but just a straight wander quest over and over will get old.

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

Also how about a stable/corral schematic as the final reward? (Since we are dreaming here)

hey Enigma (I posted this in the original Jabba thread),

Dunno if you started yet. But there are ways to do this with all existing CH places.

Malikai/Jabba
The Rancher's Wife
The Warren Zoo (Another Place I need to take pictures of for the Corral Thread)
The Geo Caves (maybe??)
And the NPC Mission for the Bull Rancor (That you bugged)

In the Tame Adult post we had talked about an epic quest allowing a Tame Adult ticket for allowing someone to tame an adult already marked Tamable. This is one possible reward.

Another possible is the Corral Deed. Of course, this would require the corral to finally get implemented.

But I await to discuss this more once you lay out your ideas. Thanks for an entertaining thread. It actually put hope back into my twisted mind that MCH could be useful in combat again some day.

A third idea that has not be discussed in some time is Combat Arenas. Players love to fight their pets against each other. This type of deed would be a wonderful thing.

Wish I worked in SOE marketing. The CH ideas that the players create would be worth its weight in gold as mini-expansions. Who wouldn't pay 19.99 for a Corral and Combat Arena expansion pack? If SOE had 5-10 CHs on their team just to develop content the game would rock. We are innovative, imaginative and intense.

New Edition: This post. The monetary reward seems a little high. Maybe putting it in line with the rewards a BH gets for killing a Jedi. Mission is always pass fail like theirs are. You don't get it the first time you start over.

Great idea! Maybe at the end of each week Jabba hosts a battle of the top ten or so creatures tamed (with a max number of pets of each type). The people who tamed them could come and fight tournament style, with the winner facing Malakili and Jabba's Rancor.

Enigma,

I do love the entire concept. I have thought about this for the past hour. Causing me to get shocked fixing my Mother-in-Laws washer. (One really needs to make sure something electrical is unplugged before attempting to tear it apart).

Okay. I really think for me I appreciate quests that are fun and have a reward as the goal. I love Epic Quests as well. Something that you can do here and there and quite possibly start near the beginning of your profession and do gradually as you go up in levels. It is why I offered alternative NPC/places, in hopes this can be more than just one quest it becomes like the Rab/Imp/Nym/Jabba Quest where one starts here and goes there.

The money does bother me. Although it would make grinding missions for money more pleasant if there was an additional reward. Going back and forth to the mission terminal after every mission would get old since you could only have 2 missions active. Now on the other hand, if ones tame were a BOSS Creature. I could see that being worth 10 Mil to Jabba. Likely it could get more from a PC if the CH were forced to turn it in.

I would probably opt out of doing this quest just for a statue, painting or anything visual. An Adult Tame voucher, Corral Deed, or Arena Deed would fit nicely into my style of play.

This sounds awesome to me... great design for an MMO-style "epic quest."

If you post please write

If you would do this quest if was to become available

I'm not sure if I would with my main character on Bria, because I roleplay a CorSec officer and thus don't work for Hutt criminal scum. Maybe I could work in an angle where I'm "infiltrating" the palace undercover.

Factional concerns aside, I would definitely want to do it as a fun game activity. Some of the creatures on that list are "impossibly rare" so I might end up putting them off for a while (or forever). But there seem to be enough "uncommon" and "somewhat rare" list items to keep me occupied for a while.

What you like about this quest

I like the fact that it provides a subsidized reward for taming (something that doesn't really exist right now, except in the form of the baby itself). It's sort of a fresh spin on the whole taming concept, which would probably help renew interest in the activity for longtime CHs. I like decoration loot (carpets, paintings, trophies) a lot, and would probably do the quest for them even if this had nothing to do with Creature Handling.

I like that this uses Malakili as the focal point, since he's an iconic Creature Handler from the films. I like that this happens in an area that doesn't get a lot of repeat traffic (once you've gone through Jabba's Theme Park once, there's very little reason to ever go back).

I like the idea of a unique "untamable creature" as the ultimate reward. Hopefully steps could be taking to prevent it from becoming Flavor of the Month among those people who have completed the quest, though. Perhaps allow the CH to choose from several "skins" or go with the one time "tame adult" consummable ability?

Would set a precedent by which perhaps similar quests could be added in the future.

What if anything do u think needs to be improved on this proposed quest

I think the monetary rewards might need to be scaled back a little (getting a reward in the millions is unheard of, though granted these are some pretty tough tames).

The reward item "trophies" (skulls, skins, etc) is something Rangers have been wanting as a craftable... I don't think they'd be happy about trophies being Creature Handler loot.

I'd actually kind of like to see you physically give the baby to Malakili (causing it to leave your datapad). That would make the missions feel more "real" and believable (Jabba is hiring you to get arena creatures for him... but he doesn't care if you don't actually deliver them?). You'd just have to make sure the rewards are appropriately tempting so you'll want to hand over the pet.

I based the monetary rewards on what I feel these creatures are actually worth. I think Mallakili would understand the value of such a creature and offer top dollars to encourage the creature handler to sell to him.

I also want to keep it optional to turn the baby in. The badges serve as recognition for creature handlers that they can add to their profile and the trophies keepsakes for what you have done for Jabba.

Keep your oppinions coming guys
