This Post is to help answer all the questions people are having about mounts. It would be nice if we could get this to be a sticky thread, but until Vertexon sees this, lets all try and keep it bumped.

What is a mount?

A mount is a pet that has been thought the mount command from a Creature Handler with the level 4 empathy skills. This may change later as it was said that it may be moved to management.

When are they going live?

The devs said early November, and as of this righting 11/04/03 it is rumored that they will be out next week.

Mount are out on test center however.

Where do I get one?

Flag down a Bio Engineer or a Creature Handler and ask them if they have any to purchase. You may need to go to several players, as some may not know the mount command.

How do you use a mount?

Once trained in the mount command all that is necessary is to have the proper skill to call the pet and to make sure that the pet is at least halfway grown (50-60%).

Then all you need to do is go into your data pad and select the mount and click on the call option in the radial menu.

What mounts are there?

Currently there are 6 kinds of mounts with more on the way suck as Bantha and Ronto.

Currently Non Creature Handlers are limited to only Kaadu, or Carion Spats. Creature Handlers will have the option of riding any of the available mounts.

Creature Handler only mounts include: Bol, Brackaset, Dewback, and Falumpaset.

Also variations such as the Mountain Dewback are mountable.

How much do mounts cost?

That depends on what the Creature Handler wants to charge. This can range from free-50k and up.

What are the mount commands?

/mount This command lets you hop on the mount.
/dismount This command lets you get off the mount.
/gallop This command lets you go at the top speed of the mount.

What is the fastest mount?

Kaadu and Carion Spats are the fastest of all the current mounts.

Questions:

1) I've seen reports on TC that BEs will be able to make CL-10 versions of all the mounts. Has this been verified?

2) Are they going to allow the use of mask scent when mounted?

And anyone who pays 50K for mount training is getting fleeced or just has too much money on their hands.

For a BE'd pet that is normally CL20, that has been downed to CL10 and then trained as a mount may go for 50K.... It's hard to say... Supply and demand. I think wild mounts of CL10 will go for about 15K... I hope nobody gives them away for free, I don't want to see a bunch of newbies riding around with mounts. These should be for players who have "earned them"

My pricing:

Guild Members: Free.
Friends: Free.
Members Of My Faction: Depends on mount, at least 50K.
Members Of Opposing Faction: At least 100K. No matter what the mount.

I really hope the pricing remains somewhat high. It's going to become very old seeing every n00b in the game riding on the overgrown duck that is the kaadu. It's too bad they don't have some kind of vehicle available at the same time, that would cut down on the proliferation of creatures that everyone complains about. Wait until mounts go live... a pet for every player, 24/7.

I also refuse to run around with my creature handler tag on at all, especially after mounts go live. I suggest all other creature handlers do the same, or you will be in /tell hell for a week.

You can also do what I do and make your self unsearchable... Then when you walking by people can see you, but can't search for you... Helps a lot....

I have not heard anything about creature level 10 for all mounts, but it is a possibility. Nothing confirmed though.

As for Mask scent Im not the person to ask... as it stands it seems to be a feature of test center and not a bug. Things are open to change as it is a test center, and not a live server.

Also I plan to sell mounts for 30k and up. I think it is fair, if you want the cool new feature right when it comes out, the prepared to meet supply and demand. The mount has no real value other than what the customer is willing to pay for it.

Also, has anyone found an answer on the harnesses? Will they appear automatically after you tame the mount or do we need to buy them from a artisan of some kind?

You know, it's too bad that we couldn't get all the Master Ch's to agree on a real high price to sell the mounts for. It would only benefit everyone and like someone else said earlier in this post, everyone in the world won't have one after a day.

50k - 100k? nah... too much IMO. I can see 25k or right around there. If I'm done with my CH skills by then, (almost there) I'll probably charge based a bit on popularity. Prices will probably be anywhere from 15-25k per animal. I don't see a reason to gouge everyone for something that will be so widespread. On top of that, I'll leave my CH tag on when I have creatures to sell, and take it off when I don't. Pretty much that simple.

Even if you COULD get ALL the MASTERS to agree on price fixing, what good would it do you, since you don't need to be a master to sell mounts?

man you guys you have to sell mounts for an insane price. Most of the people you will be selling to are people who wan you nerfed! Im gonna make all these butt dumplings pay a rediculous price for mounts. Most of these people running around hate me and want me nerfed, thas ok but im gonna take a massive chunk of change out of your pocket if you want a mount! what goes around comes around!
