Animal lover here, always have been always will be. since I can't have a ranch right now lol. maybe after I win the lottery, then ch is the best alternative
Growing upI always had a pup by my side,
Always loved the aspect of ch when I first read the swg box in the store it was the deciding factor to buy this game, even a friend chuckled ingame during the holo grind because I wouldn,t drop ch to pursue some professions, the conversation went something like this (keep in mind we met ingame on the 3rd day after launch)
me; "I cant drop ch for commando or bh,I just cant sorry" his answer " Its all you ever wanted to be :-)"
this conversation was around feb/march last year.
edited do to working all night, nap time

I think being a CH fills the void my current lack of adoggiehas created (thanks to living in an apartment where I can't have 'em
) So in that regard, I'm a CH cause I'm an animal lover.
But I didn't set out to be CH when I started this game. I was aware of it, but at the start I had other plans. It wasn't until I saw someone's rancor terroizing the local constabulary of Mos Eisley that I thought "hey, that looks like fun".
As soon as I picked it up though, I knew it was for me.

I pretty much enjoy the hunter aspect of life. i am a ranger and need hunting dogs sooooo CH is the answer. While a pair of Boar wolf Ravegers are not exactly coon dogs they serve their purpose well. Aside from that I like taming. Got a ping pong playing parrot (not really but hate to miss an ode to Roy D Mercer)

I'm a CH because I've always liked having pets in RPG's (EQ I played Druid and Necro characters, Morrowind I use the Conuration skill, Diablo I play Necros and Druids, and I bought the game "Summoner" for PS2 based solely off of the name).
I especially like the aspect of how the creatures work in this game, how you tame a real live NPC creature, and let it grow, and when you go out hunting with it, it just feels more like a "real" pet, instead of just a summoned weapon like a Necro's skeleton's in EQ. You actually care about your pets in this game, and being able to tame the different unique pets adds certain flavor to your character. Most CH's bust out their rancors, grauls, and kimo's when they go to the cantina. I bust out my female tusk plains cat Sabre, and my veermok Luda. They are both trademarks of my character, and I wouldn't trade either of them for the world.

Animal lover, I have had pets all my life. Grandfather was a rancher. I use my pets ingame as protection but even more so as companions.

Besides being an animal lover, I love the idea of bein able to interact with an NPC on such an indepth level. And as was stated before I too loved the pet type classes on just about all RPG's I've played, including the Necro in Everquest.

I was a chanter Nelly and fairly envious of the Necro, Mage and BL pets. But I did have the advantage of charming NPC's. SWG's hunter seemed to roll it all into one for me. The only game I don't have pets in is COH and I just haven't worked on my controller yet.

Heh.... my controller in COH happened to be the only flavor that doesn't get pets.... d'oh! Oh well, was my first toon- didn't know any better.
I finally broke down and am trying out.... the game that cannot be named due to Mod policing... just because of its hunter class. So far:
Things I like :
- Have to go on quests to be able to learn how to tame
- Pets are very effective and you can choose pets based on what you want them to do (tank, damage-dealer or jack of all trades)
- Useful skills and abilities related to your pet
-more interactivity with your pet (must keep it happy or it could turn on you).
Things I don't like:
- Limited pet storage
- the 'taming' process isn't as 'immersive' or dynamic as SWG's. When you try to tame something, it immediately aggros you while a progress bar runs across the screen and your character appears to chant/go into a trance. If you aren't dead by the time the progress bar reaches the end, you tame it. Not much to it. Seems you could tame anything if you have thehit pointsto not die in the time it takes to tame it.
Never cared forclasses where you 'summon' disposable pets- like necromancers or priests or mages would. To me the appeal is taming a specific creature which then stays with you and progresses as you do. Summoning "Skeletal Warrior # 567" to do your bidding for a brief period of time isn't the same.

I tried an Enchanter for a bit in EQ also. I enjoyed the elementals, as well as being able to turn myself into a chair!

Well, I wouldn't say I'm an animal lover. Heck no I'm not, I enjoy killinglizard and butterflys....lol. Anyway, I'm in Ch. I plan on using it to help me in the BH profession. Yeah....I'd ike to be able to shoot Jedi from afar while my Graul Maruder or Bull Rancor tanks fo myself. Yup, didn;t want a second Combat profession to switch too. I though most of em were to boring for me.

I am not much of a pet person in real life but the pets in SWG have grown on me over time. My first pet was given to me out of the blue by a passing CH and my Kaadu "Putz" pulled my butt out of the fire many times willingly sacrificing himself to give me time to escape or fliping out to my music when I am a musician. Others told me to get a "real" pet and I always resisted and was rewarded when Kaadu was not only made a mount but a fast one to boot.
Several times I tried CH but my friends always got tired of wating for the class to become worth while and I would give in to pressure and pick up a "real" profession. Finally I started Ile and he was a loaner, Scout/Ranger, so I needed an imaginary friend, I picked up CH again. At last I am getting to do the profession at my own speed and enjoying it. As luck would have it the city/guild I have joined has several current and former CH in it and they actually encourage me to continue.
I think mucah like entertainer this is one class I am never going to make the mistake of having a charecter without again.
