Thread: OMG ENOUGH with the CH complaints on Pets being too weak!

Im so tired of people complaining about pets being so weak, unless everyone finally realizes the pets WILL NOT be made to a point that during a PvP encounter the pets will be on "par" with a player! THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN unless SOE can figure out a way to make it so ONLY the pet can be used, otherwise for those players that have CH + (any other combat class) will be at a HUGE advantage over ANY player thats non-CH + (any other combat class).

Its been suggested before, in order to make pets "stronger" i.e. better armor, AP1,2,3, or higher damage there needs to be a device of some sort that will be required to be held by the player and NOT be able to use anything else otherwise "ITS TOO UNBALANCED".

Example: Combat classes use their current weapons, Melee use melee and Ranged use ranged weapons, in order to make those pets better there will have to be some device i.e. a "Special Pet Control Device" that can ONLY be used to make the pet function as the SOLE dmg of a CH.

Geeezzzz im so tired of hearing the same damn complaints ... "I want more dmg", "I want AP123", "I want blah blah blah"...

Also realize if the pets became that powerfull and on top of that another combat class can be used while being MCH, then well have what we did before, abunch of CH dabblers running around and back to "pokemon" days!

Personally i opt for the MCH ONLY device to make pets better, this well keep the TRUE CH'ers that enjoy the CH class for what it is and NOT for "Flavor of the month to PvP and PWN someone" <-- i HATE that statement!!!

Anyway flame away i dont care! and yes i drank too much coffee this morning

The big problem with your contol device in PVP is my TKM will just KD/Dizzy yourlittle toon and leave the pet alone while you clone. I can deal with him at my leasure. It was what real PVPers did back when you could use a creature in PVP and have another profession. Most combat classes ignored the pet and took out the CH quickly. In group PVP your everyones first target. lolI would yell "Attack" and the entire opposing group would open onmy toon. lol It was before /tellpet and we were supposed to be "Uber."

Horrible, HORRIBLEidea... maybe the worst I've read on this board yet.

Remove the ability to use a weapon and you turn the player into a worthless, leash holding spectator who is begging to die. This would completely destroy the CH class. There's no way I'd give up my blaster to hold a leash and watch my pet do all the fighting... BORING... and then I've have to hope that the mob doesn't aggro my completely defenseless a$$.

It's not like MCH is overpowered anyway. Everyday I watch buffed combat professions (e.g. TKM, Swordsmen, Riflemen, etc.)destroy mobs with a lot more ease than I can.

Isnt that the point, they are a combat class, you are not.. (not a pure one I mean). Also to the original poster, so what if CH gains an advantage if he has his pet out, he has spent skill points to be able to do that

Its like saying a RM/TKM has an advantage over a pure TKM cos he can kite him some damage before they fight up close.....

I still think that reducing damage given to pets in PVP from players by 75% will make CH a totally viable and wouldnt break game dynamics.

If we are not a combat class, how come we have to kill things with a pet to get CH XP? Since we have to master 4 trees getting CH XP at the same rate that other classes get combat XP. We have to kill alot more to master than most combat professions. I started a CH from scratch and TK as a combat skill. I concentrated all my PVE on leveling CH. I was MTK before I got to 2222 CH. I maxed out the combat and weapon XP, I no longer get messages about them, before I got to 3333 CH. Sounds like combat class to me.

*sigh*

I said your not a pure combat class (i.e. your pre-req doesnt require any combat and you could level up to masterwithout entering combat at all - would take forever mind to tame/train your way, but could be done)

whereas the only way to level up a pure combat class is with combat.... you with me?

If you want people to respect your ideas then respect for theyr opinions should be returned, maybe they are tired of hearing about your control device, if they flamed you wouldnt you be upset on any attitude when all you are doing is giving your opinion.

People have a right to their opinions wether you agree or disagree

And is this post really constructive lol it just distracts us from real problems and creates more anger and resentment

lol just my opinion

Understand this folks, especially those who have come in on the tail end of the first year of SWG.

Creature Handler was and the intention is, that CH is supposed to be a COMBAT PROFESSION.

Since the great nerf of Dec. 03 the developers and correspondents having been spouting this unmitigated BS that CH is a "support" class. This is just BS. We were not a Support profession but we have been turned into one.

So for those of us who have been here since the beginning, to have some know it all noob come in and say, YOU ARE SUPPORT, kind of tears it.

Every support profession does not collect combat xp. Doctors, entertainers etc dont' get combat XP when they are out killing.

Every combat profession does not stand on it's own. There are no "master TKA" only templates out there. There are no pure "master Rifleman" out there. No smart pvpers mix and match their template to get the maximum benefit from several combat trees.

That means that they could be getting defensive stacks from TKA/ swordsman while using a rifle but switch to tka or sword when the fight gets up close and personal.

Your argument doesn't hold water, why, because number one, if the pet was truly uber, even in the old days like stated above, everyone ignored the pet and went for the handler. So Master CH's picked up some combat to keep themselves alive, not their pets, themselves. Your argument would say that if you are TKA that's it. If you are holding a rifle then you shouldn't be able to change to a sword, or drop the rifle and fight barehanded or with a vibro knuckler. SO what you are really saying is, KEEP THE CH TREE NERFED THANKYOU.

My suggestion is make every Elite Combat profession the same, so expensive in SP that you cannot dabble in any other profession. That would keep you from having multiple weapons and multiple profession stacking happening. So if you want to be a TKA it should work like this, when you want it you must be Master Brawler/Master TKA and when you choose to start on that elite combat profession, all other combat profession become unavailable. End of story.

I wonder how happy everyone would be with that? But that is basically what the original poster of this is whining about. You know what I have to say to you TS. And some day in the far distant future your precious tka, sword, rifleman, armor, buffs are going to get nerfed and buddy you will be begging for a pet then and you know what, TS.

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

What everyone seems to be forgetting is where the proof is that something is broken or too weak...in the player counts. How many master ch's do you see these days? Everybody and their dog is a tka or a bounty hunter, finding a master ch is almost as bad as trying to find a master ranger sometimes. People play the fun classes and right now...CH isn't fun. Why? Underpowered would be the most likely answer since overpowered was what made it the most popular (boring would be next most likely, tho for that all we'd need is more rare pets/better rare pets/reasonably findable rare pets). So looking at the numbers, something obviously needs to change. It's sad that everytime someone posts an idea on how to do this someone else bashes em down. Any of the recommendations made has some merit and would probably work if tempered enough (give us baby ancient bull rancors...nah, but how about something that would be of SOME use in a fight, pets right now are about useless).

Oh, and to say that CH isn't a "pure combat class" Well, considering that mastering CH requires what...12 million weapon exp equivalent to master? Let me put that in perspective, you have to kill around 12 THOUSAND enraged rancorsusing a low level pet to accomplish that. If anything, I'd call CH the most combat intensive of all the classes...everyone knows that combat is the only efficient way to lvl CH and even that takes forever...and after all that fighting what do you get? The honor of being the first player to die in a gcw fight and being at a major disadvantage in a duel. Ask *anyone* what class they'd want as their secondary in a duel and NOBODY (in their right mind) would say CH. Why is CH so unpopular? Because the only thing it's good for...it's not any good for. We cantrain mounts...that nobody uses. We can tame creatures...that nobody needs. We can use pets in combat...that nobody pays attention too because they're too weak.

CH is in dire need of a tune up and until things are working again I vote we all spend less time flaming people for their ideas and more time coming up with viable solutions...(course, SOE will probably just ignore us...ahh well, best we can do is try).

You must not have been CH long if you do not think CH requires a combat skill to level as a prerequisite. It might not be required by SOE but it is required by the game. Even as a MTK it takes forever unless you grind. You do know that pets do not attack lairs and cause babies to pop. To get the 1.2 million XP to masteron Tame/Trainyou will need to find close to 1,500 tamable babies standing around. That are tameableat your level. You know a monkey banging on a keyboard could eventually duplicate this message. This is not a pure Litterate Class forum. lol

I dont really think the damage on a creature should be on par with a players but i do think pets should be tougher than what they are.....pets today get killed in 3 shots. Also its not "too unbalanced"for ach to be able to use a weapon and his/her pet(s) at the same time. Think about it this way a Fencer/TKM gets to use their specials from one of these professions only one at a time but what you fail to realize is thatthe defenses from each profession are both at work during battle (except for dodge). So then if using a creature and a weapon at the same time is "too unbalanced" than so is defense stacking.
