Thread: OMG ENOUGH with the CH complaints on Pets being too weak!

I can promise you that would kill the CH profession. I am a MCH and I love my pets, but I also love to use the pistols in my pistoleer tree.

Your argument is somewhat incorrect also. You say that, lets say, a melee character can only use his weapon, while we could use a weapon and a pet. I think it would be better to look at number of professions. A TKM, Fencer, Swordsman can use skills from all 3 professions, even if they are holding only one weapon. Besides with pet damage being so completely gimp in pvp, the only thing the pets are good for are their specials and to absorb damage.

That is definately one of the things I love about CH is variety. Mix n match a little guns, and pets, and you have alot of fun. Move us to the role of just standing around and watching our pets do the fighting, and you'll have alot of people leaving, like me.

Heck Yeah!

I said your not a pure combat class (i.e. your pre-req doesnt require any combat and you could level up to masterwithout entering combat at all - would take forever mind to tame/train your way, but could be done)

whereas the only way to level up a pure combat class is with combat.... you with me?

Yeah. I could. IF mobs just dropped dead at my feet and allowed me to harvest them. I guess you have some exploit that involves killing something witout entering combat. Or maybe you just get powerlevelled. I WORKED MY WAY TO MCH. That involved combat. But I am with you. There should be comba XP for all combat peoples. It would end the argument over whether we are combat or not. If we are not combat then why is one of our first commands "attack"? It might as well be "Balance on one foot".

Just because you can visualize a lesser what to get CH does not mean that it is lesser. Many of us worked it the hard way. Many of us fought mobs when they were harder to kill. Now you get the same XP for less time.

CH is combat pure and simple, with some allowance for roleplaying, not unlike BH missions.

First of all....don't feed the trolls and the original poster is just that.

Secondly, why do a lot of pplkeep callingit pokemon when we have our pets out?? I seriously don't get it? Pokemon was a little cartoon....well...so are our characters. So it seems to me that it's pokemon whether we have out ourpets or not.

Finally, I love CH cuz it a fun class for me. Everyone is different. It's just too bad that cuz I like CH I'm pretty much doomed to mediocrity in PvP cuz I would really like to be competitive. I hear MANY more complaints about PvP (triple incaps, corpse/clone camping, uber Jedi, etc.)then I do about CH wanting stronger pets. I mean....if ppl want more PvP, there simply has to be an increase to the viable PvP professions. Right now, there are just too few professions that are good in PvP. CH wanting stronger pets it not nearly as bigof an issue as some of the other ones described on these boards.

Meagor, I am not certain what you meant by this at all.

Do you mean that it is the least of CH problems?

That CH need this less than other professions need fixed?

Or that some things from other professions who are currently UBER are trivial because that CH desperately needs a real defined role in PvP?

One star for my original post huh? Man you guys are harsh.....especially since I'm supporting CH.

Perhaps I should have been a little clearer. What I am saying is that

I definitly want CH to have more of a chance in PvP.

I would like to see our pets get a boost in power also.

With all the othercomplaints and seeming problems involved in PvP (uber Jedi, triple incaps, etc), crying to not make CH more viable is just a waste of time, IMO.

Finally, to foster more PvP, there needs to be more viable options for professions that are competitive in PvP. Right now, there are only a few that ppl choose. SOE seriously needs to increase the number of professions that have a chance in PvP and help balance things out, then more ppl will PvP. IMO, helping CH is an important part of that process.

I did not one star you. gave you a 5 to balance things out. It is why I asked before I went on a rant. LOL.

I can agree with what you've stated. The balance is everyone's problem. The question is can we get more power and a hand held device, while others are brought in to tow. BH's doing 3K damage with less skill point usage, they have defenses. We just must purely die.

Before Taming your Way to MCH is mentioned again. I am very much on the record as stating at least one or two trees of CH should come from taming/training. This is no different than the BH who gets XP from Missions. Yet they are still more powerful.

Not enough with the complaints until the CH class is once again competitive.. I loved this profession, and it certainly needed to be downgraded from the 3 arachne webmaster, then the 2 75% kinetic 10k ham graul mauler times, but they took it too far. Since the great nerf melee classes got CoB and melee damage mitigation, ranged classes got ranged mitigation, and everyone got 80% composite, and working personal shield generators. CH pets got nothing. Other than flat out reducing the skill point requirement to force sensitiveish skill point requirements (1 sp per box), there should at least be some kind of pet damage mitigation, maybe spread it out to 1% per box in the base row, 2% per box in the second row, 3% in the 3rd, 4% in the fourth and another +20% at master to balance out with the damage mitigation that melee/ranged classes got. The best pets would still be taking double the damage of a master melee class in 80% kin armor from kinetic damage, but at the moment the best pets take more than 5x thekinetic damage of a master melee class from kinetic damage (melee classes actually take much, much less damage because on top of the damage mitigation, and the 80% armor they also get toughness mods and CoB). 5x more damage is too much of a spread, and you can master a melee class using 14 less skill points, 2x-3x more damage on a pet is reasonable, rather see CH brought up than everyone be brought down in the combat balance which is what likely will happen. Oh well.. dropping CH skills now as I level swordsman.

Geeezzzz im so tired of hearing the same damn complaints ... "I want more dmg", "I want AP123", "I want blah blah blah"...

I am the king of pointing out irony this week. You my friend have just whined about whining. It is likely the reason that people have one starred you into oblivion.

I want to point out that you my friend overlooked a few facts. The healer professions stack with other professions. Until these professions are brought into tow with some handheld device that does not allow their professions to increase their ham pool then CH is nothing more than a Medic in disguise. Our pets are indeed useless and largely ignored by the current player base due to the fact our pets do quit fighting if we are incapped. Since we have no defenses built into our class we are just wasting our time to pull them out. If it is a waste of time to pool them out then it is also a waste of time to be CH.

Now. All that being said I do not disagree with your pet control device idea. The fact is, however, it can only be imposed by imposing the same acrossed all the professions in SWG. With the same timer restrictions being imposed on everyone. If you are a Musician you should not be able to store an instrument for 30 seconds nor call it in the wild without waiting or making a camp. Medics/CMs/Docs should all be required to equip something to heal/attack/buff. Currently there is nothing to keep a CM from poisoning and being a Rifleman to give a well placed Mind bleed as well. You obviously overlook this for your own convenience or lack of clarity on the game as a whole. Either or. The fact is that your argument as a whole is misinformed.

Now to fix the situation as a whole the game needs to be disassembled and started from ground zero. Yeah that's right I said it. The game has poor design.

Each method of attack rifle, pistol, llc, ft, acid rifle, pets, droids. Each need their own mini tree. Enough with calling a proffesion a profession. People can role play their professions better than SOE can design them. The combat revamp, if SOE/SWG would listen to me, would be best served by eliminationg professions as they stand.

Keep the same system of climbing the trees. Rate it all combat on combat XP. Healing on Healing. Crafting on Crafting. Enternainer on Ent. Do away with all this Elite/Starter nonsense.

Combat Skill Sets.

Rifles, Pistols, Carbines, Exotic Weapons (LLC,FT,AR)-Pets-Droids,Thrown (Grenades-Poisons),Melee (pikes, swords, axes), Weaponless.

Healing

Basic-Buffs

Crafting

Droids, Structures, Weapons, Armor, Foods, Meds, Clothes, Spices, BE Pets.

Ent

Dance-Music-ID

Misc (mostly roleplay value)

Bounties, Underworld (faction Alignments, Smuggling-bribing.

In my SWG world you would get 25 Skill Points, Each tree would keep its current style except there would only be one tree, A total of 10 Skill Points to master. 25 total skill points to use. Stacking becomes obsolete because bonuses become minimal. All persons are required to use something to accomplish anything that deals damage. Only one could be used at a time.

You can rant and flame all you want lerd, but unless you take the universe as a whole into consideration you are merely ranting against CH and not helping it.

The number one rule to constructing a MMORPG is to make sure it is an RPG first. Currently it is nothing more than fancy artwork with little content or and game material. Every elite combatprofession EXCEPT CH can stand on its own. We cannot. Do you realize one of your wild tames cannot defeat one of its own in the wild?

I want to believe you know what you are talking about but you need to present the alternative. I have and it is destroying the whole system as it stands and making the game anew. Too bad RuinedSabre destroyed CH without any concept of the Combat Revamp (as Haden pointed out). We have been living under the lies of Ruin, JustGoofy, and Blunderheart all this time.

Your post has zero relavence.

I did CH a few months back with another toon doing the hologrind (I enjoyed CH alot and kept it long enough to tame an arachnewidow)...

I just missed the change in the XP (when everyone was using2 Lesser Plains Bols to kill naffs and rancors and getting big time XP)

Annoyed at missing the XP fest Igot a friend (who was a Bio-Eng) to make hundreds of kaadus and I would just tame them, teach them, then destroy them. I got to master in no time doing this.

And to the poster who stated 'what do you expect the creatures to drop dead at your feet'... Im guessing he is on about the XP to get to novice CH.... Well, basically if you hunt in a group then harvest the bodies this is exactly what you could do to get your XP.....

Heck there may be someone with a MCH, MRanger, MDroid Eng template for all you know! The majoritysay about how you let your pet attack and then back it up with your characters combat skill, that to me says CH is a support class, does it not to you? In fact, even when pets where 'uber' I dont think I saw a MCH just use his pet to attack

haho,

Define Combat Support? Then once you define it apply it to CH. Then once you do that, tell me why not being CH is more support than being CH?

Once you answer the third part "I cannot say" then you will see the dilemma of CH.

erm... its quite simple really

You send the pets in so they take aggro (they are supporting you)

You do the most amount of damage with your _insert_combat_class_here

Rinse, repeat...

Then once you do that, tell me why not being CH is more support than being CH?

Ok that comment u made is badly worded, but if you mean how is a non-CH more support than a CH, then the answer is simple.

He isnt....

the CH is more supportive (as in my example above). Unless of course the non CH is a doc/cm then he is giving support with healings/cures etc..
