Thread: Post-Publish 6: Running mobs increase

Just an FYI on what I've seen since Publish 6 went live:

In PvE, mobs are now running all the time, not just with some "pet models". Think Stormtroopers in faction missions. :-/

I have not done extensive testing, nor am I going to, but PvE missions that worked fine pre-publish, e.g., mobs that stood and fought, are now running all over Hell's Half Acre. They run away, they run back, they run in circles, they aggro stuff around them if they run into them...sheesh

Bleh.

*sighs* Oh fun. How come I have a feeling this is to discourage "meat shielding", thereby making CH useless without combat skills? At least I used to have something useful about my character on a hunt . . . .

I can second that for Voritor Tracking Lizards. I have two cats that never left a fight. I did a random spawn of 2 lizards. Set one cat on one and the other cat on the second and started firing. They took off in opposite directions. I chased the one on the left, weaker cat, for 250m before I finally killed it. It never slowed down, stopped, or turned. Good thing I am also a Master Pistoleer. I can run and gun some what. I am glad I am not melee. This stinks.

On another, unrelated note. The Ticket Collector is eating tickets again. I tried to take a shuttle from Mos Entha to Corellia. It ate 4 tickets. I finally had to go to Theed just to get off the planet.

I've hunted hurrtons, voritors, and bols and pets that were rock solid yesterday for well over 600k Heavy Weapons XP ran away usually within about 10-20 seconds of engaging. This happened with my battlelords, gurrecks, and other high lvl creatures. I had to quit playing for a while cause I was so frustrated.

The devs continue their long tradition of the Midas touch in reverse.

There's a reason I call them meatlumps.

Just to clarify the Lizard story, lizards ran not the pets. The pets just chased them. **edit**, I wish I still had my Grauls. It would be funny to sic one on a MOB and watch the MOB run one way and the Graul the other. On a side note, the respawn rate on randoms seems to be alot quicker now.

This problem has a easy solution.

When your pet is attacking andthe mob turns to run, command your pet to follow than attack, in rapid succession.

As soon as you told your pet to follow, the mob will turn back to attack your pet.

This prevents even bols, the notorious runners prepatch, from going very far.

You may have to repeat the follow/attack a few times, as in the whole time you fight the mob.

Sometimes mobs settle down and stop running, other times they can't keep themselves from running.

It's a sad day when voritor lizards become as cowardly as Imperial Stormtroopers. Or Dralls.

Who cares if follow is a solution. It's completely retarded. Fighting on Dathomir will be FAR more trouble than it's worth. We'll be as desired as droid engineers soon.

Just an update. I did some testing. I have Voritors outside my house. It is a medium Naboo on Dant. The follow command did not help. I have been MCH for a long time. I know the tricks. Pet ignored the command and kept chasing and attacking. Tried it 3 times with the same result on 3 different lizards.

Now, to see if this is pet related, I stored the pets and took on the remaining lizard without any pets. I figured if I got in trouble I would just run in my house. Well, they must only be scared of pets. The last one made a bee line for me. I kept hitting it with fan shot and it kept coming. Well, time to bail and run for the house. I do not use armor. I run up the ramp and into the house. Imagine my surprise when the lizard does the same. I kitted it in the living room and ran up the stairs. Yep, it followed me INSIDE MY HOUSE through doors and up stairs. I finally killed it in my bedroom. I should have taken a screen shot. I bet I am the first to have a dead Voritor Tracker on my bed. lol I hope those stains will come out.

Well, I have given up combat until I hear if this is a bug or "as intended." If it is not a bug, this will kill CH for good. I suspect they will fix the house thing. The uproar from the rest of the combat classes will cause this. Unless their intention is to elimante PVE. Oh well, mask scent "Moo, here cow. The BE's need milk."
