As I know I'm prone to getting rather "miffed", to put it lightly, about the issues with CH, I think one of the best ways I can be constructive here is to do a day by day diary of what a CH player goes through in the game. Perhaps if the Devs read about what things are like for someone who depends on this as a main class on a daily basis, they'll start to really understand how the problems affect the average player and not just those who take it for augmentation. So here's the good and the bad, everything that happens. Some may or may not directly involve the pets, but this is the CH story.

Since I'm starting this a bit later than I originally decided to, I'll back it up to two days ago, and I'll leave an entry daily from now on.

June 3rd

Logged on tonight at 8 PM with three hours to kill. Arrican had asked me to bring my animals to Dantooine so that he, a TKM/MHS, could pull missions that paid some decent money, but he wasn't logging in until 11. Having just finished the Borvo end of the missions for the Krayyt Skull, I decided to instead hold onto the Tusken King's rifle as a decoration and move on to the next part of my loot collecting; I need the Endor painting that the Imperials give out. I jumped from Moenia to Coronet, and in the time that it took me to run to the ticket terminals I had three tells asking for me to mount people's pets. One asked how much I charged and I reply that it was on a tip basis. Having the space in my pad, I go out into the starport and start training the mounts. even though I tried my best to avoid them while remaining in earshot for the shuttle's arrival so I could go to Bela Vistal, one doctor started yelling at me because the animals were too close to his line of 25 people and he couldn't see how many packs he needed.

The one who asked what I charged tipped me 100 credits for training an 8k HAM non-CH cu pa that probably cost a good amount. The others said thanks and ran off.

Hopped shuttle to Bela Vistal. Since I can't trust my pets to stay in game and I'm non-combat, I'm relegated to delivery missions, and Bela's the best place to fly through those. I pull out Ghussghuss, my bantha, and grab 2 and start shuffling off. By the time I get to my third waypoint, it's obvious Ghussghuss won't work for this because, since we can't converse from mountback, I have to get off of him at every stop. Since he is so big he's constantly overlapping my contact, or me so that I can't target the NPC. Store Ghussghuss, and pull out generic NCH cu pa that I'll eventually sell.

I gave up on running delivery missions at about 50 FP, when 8 of the NPC's didn't spawn and the cu pa had stored at least 5 times.

Hop shuttle back to Coronet, with an hour and a half to wait on Arrican and Dantooine. Tucking myself into a corner where hopefully there isn't a doctor screaming he's selling buffs (I still had to move twice) I pull out two NCH bantha mounts and Cyypiah, my savage humbaba. Climbing up on Cypp, who gets a lot of attention, I start my call (once every five minutes or whenever I remember to hit the hotkey) of selling mounts, rancors, and rares. I'm in a bad mood, but trying to salvage the night a little at this point. Someone pops on and asks how much for a bantha, and I answer 10k. They ask why its so much, and I say that they take resources to make, they take days to grow which holds my DP space, and because it takes skill to mount them. They reply its a rip, and start shouting that I'm ripping people off. That lasts about two minutes, until they become more involved in barganing in the millions for matched serial krayyt parts with someone else.

At this point I decide to give up BE. It's just not worth arguing with people any more.

I keep the banthas out, but stop shouting, and just watch the crowds while waiting for Arrican to come on. A bit past 11 he logs in, and we head to Dantooine. I take out Naiikil, my 63 gurrek, and two of the NCH Banthas who are at Lv 3 so we can have as close to 70 as I can get. They get grouped, and Arrican tells me to just park them. They stay, shuffling in a line in the shadows by the mission terminal. We grab our missions, and head out, the pets left behind. With two missions apiece, I follow behind Arrican, where he goes and kills the lair single handedly. I sit on my bike, and wait, and take him to the missions in my pad. Each time we head back for more missions, my animals just sit silently, useless.

I log out at 2 AM, 200k richer because I can pull out animals who sat in town. Yay.

June 4th

I log in with nothing to do. I can't do my deliveries, because I know they're likely still busted with the devs at fan fest. I no longer have a reason to sample, because I know I'm dumping BE. I can't work on another profession, because I don't know what I'm doing yet. I check with the guild and no one's doing anything I can really jump into, so I head back to Coronet to sit for a bit. As I land on the shuttle, I light up with tells for people to mount their animals. I tell them I'm full, even though I'm at 11 pets. One of them tells me to DELETE one of my animals so I can mount his. I tell him to f*** off and toss him on ignore.

I sit in Coronet on Cyypiah for about an hour, just watching people and thinking about what to do with my character. Two people ask me if I will give them Cyypiah. I tell them that I can go train and grow them a baby of their own, time, finding, travel and mounting costs 15k, both say sure, I ask them if they are CH and they say no. By halfway through the conversation of WHY they can't use an animal like Cyypiah with the second person, who can't speak in full sentances andkeeps trying to get me to trade him to him anyways by throwing a trade window at me every 5 seconds, I toss him on ignore as well and ride away.

I've ridden in the general direction of the bank, and on a whim decide to see if anyone has a pole and some bait up there; I haven't fished in ages. Sure enough, I pick one up and head down to the beach off the garage in Coronet, at the edge of the newbie garden. While there's nothing dangerous down there, the crazed durni's can be a bit annoying, so I pull out Nakuu, my grand wrix, and tell him to guard. Amazingly, he doesn't poof every three minutes.

As I'm fishing, I watch a couple of newbies fighting and losing to gurrcats on the beach around me. They're giving me a very wide berth, and one of them drifts into hearing. He says to his friend "oh, there's someone standing next to it, I don't think it's aggro". I decide to play a joke, target the newbie, and /tell Nakuu to follow him. The two newbies take off at burstrun thinking this huge cat is chasing them.

A minute later I send the newbie a tell saying he can come back, the wrix is just on follow and won't hurt him, and he comes back with Nakuu padding along behind. His friend comes up shortly after, and they ask a lot of intelligent questions about CH's and the game in general. I pull out all my animals and tell them their strengths and shortcomings, and about all the bugs with the class. One of them is still facinated, so I give him tips on scout and working up through CH the fun way. They thank me, and run off to get one of them Novice Scout.

I go back to fishing, and it hits me that people still think animals are cool, at least. Some of them can really facinate folks. I think about Tivo and his rares, and watch myself gain Winderness Survival XP as I fish.

A bit later, I run to Starport yelling for training in Wilderness Survival II, so I can work on becoming a Master Ranger. If I can't do anything else with the class, at least I'll have fun having the coolest animals on the server.

Doh, I cringe at reading that. I can easily picture all of it. Reading about people's in-game experiences like this really interests me, though. I'll be sure to check back for future additions.

Excellent post can't wait to read some more.

I think you have inspired me to rename one of my pets to 'Mission terminal slicer'

One other thing - is your profession title on, if it is maybe turning it to novice scout or something might help a bit with hassle at starports. (I know turning off is bugged and doesn't remember but it might be worth the clicks everytime you connect)

It is, but it's not worth turning it off, I've tried. People know me as an MCH so much already that I could put BH up there and they'd still think associate me with MCH for several months. No, that's not conceited bragging, it's just that I'm the only wookiee with the old hair exploit left active on Scylla, and being one of about 5 female ones on top of that makes me stand out in a crowd. I've been shouting pets for so long they all know me by sight.

June 5th

Short play night, since I went to see the new Harry Potter movie (meh). It was my first night working on Scout, which took a bit of time to figure out, especially how exactly traps worked. Man, they're kind of a pain to use since you can't stack them in your hotkeys and /commands don't seem to work. But every once in a while playing the n00b can be fun, so I headed out to the newbie garden around Theed and started experementing. Nakuu, the grand wrix, came with me as backup; yes, even this late in the game, I've been incapped by hordes of capper spineflaps when my pike just won't connect. As usual, a severely bugged playnight . . . surprisingly enough, Nakuu (and later Naiikil) behaved, but this evenings Bug of the Day for me was in harvesting. Sometimes my hotkey would work, sometimes it wouldn't, sometimes I could get the radial and sometimes it just sat and spinned. No one else in my guild seemed to be having the problem, but their missions were bugged on Endor and they weren't getting paid half the time.

So due to the harvesting problems, I was a bit limited to how many traps I could make at a time, which slowed me down a bit more than I like. While on Naboo Nakuu only stored once, and then we had to move to Corellia. (Talk about a shock, no one in Theed could teach Trapping 1. Makes me wonder what happened to all the people who were going for BH.) Unfortunately it quickly became time to store Nakuu and pull out Naiikil (the BE'd gurrek), because Nakuu can only take four bagerasets in a row and then he's too hurt to play any more. And I'm sorry, I refuse to blow cash on pet stims for stuff like that. So out comes Naiikil and we go through Trapping II, which went quick because I found a solitary sharnaff. Unfortunately he took Naiikil down to about 1/2 HAM, so we were back to bagerasets to stretch out his HAM again. I need to make a trip to Dath to pick up some more tanks to rotate through. Naiikil is great, but I'm not going to bother fighting with BE'd pets any more.

Sorry, no new entries because I spent one night just socializing and one not playing. More entries soon.

No worries here, I enjoy the Diary. Sometimes it is good to take the night off, or just socialize in game.

June 8th

Logged in twice today, and had a very happy surprise my first time when I got a tell from mars asking if I still wanted a baby grassland thune guardian. Of course I did! So I met him in Coronet and we had a good time pulling out pets and discussing if certain ones were rare or uncommon; I think we're both agreed that things like a bull rancor are rare, swamp stalkers and rhoa kwi pack leaders are uncommon. People actually stopped and stared for a few minutes when we did the pet showings, and there were a few "wow!"s from the crowd when our RKPL's both popped out. He also had his own GTG and a mantigrue screecher, which while I've heard people talk aboiut them I'd never actually gotten to see, so that was neat.

Since I only had an hour or so in the afternoon I decided to go fishing, and while at it kill two birds with one stone and fish from a camp. Well, first of all, now camps don't work for that. They make too much land around them, so if you place them near the water, if you walk to the edge you still have to leave the camp before you can toss in your line. Second of all, the sliding in camps was so bad that if you got REALLY lucky and was able to stand on the edge and get your line in the water, every minute or two you'd shoot 100m in one direction or another and defeat the whole fishing excercise anyways. So logged out. Joy upon joys, when I check the forums there's people who can't log in, and the CSR's are saying that one sector of Scylla is currently lagged out right now and is essentially offline. Of course, it's Theed, and I logged out at the base of the waterfall just three minutes before.

So I spend the afternoon fuming with replays of Beta and Ghost Worlds stuck in my head, fully expecting to have to spend two weeks waiting for my character to be reset and losing everything in my inventory. But the gods were smiling in my favor, and I logged in that night without a problem. Off to Lok for a fishing derby.

The Church of Alvis Fish-out was held at what they call the Lake of Whiskey, which is located rather near the Lok Volcano, and we were lucky and it was a low spawn night. While there I picked up a baby ferocious kusak, which while I know he's nowhere near a decent animals for fighting, is still one of the better looking of the pit bull models. The fish-out went great, the fish quality is INSANE, and a good time was had by all (even if I didn't win, damn you Cuspar).

I left from Lok to Tatooine, flying into Mos Espa with the intent of doing a swing arount the wasteland WP's so I could replace mine, then swinging through the graveyard to look for a WDB. Right now things like that are just secondary while I throw traps, and I'll start my serious rare hunting when I get tracking. I pull out my bike and Naiikin (thinking I really need to replace him with a prowler since I prefer naturals) and head out. He autostores while taking down a Tusken Chieftan that was down to about 1/5th HAM when I found him in the middle of nowhere, and I got DB'd. Cloned in Entha, and we head out again. Pet autostores again while fighting a desert eopie, and I get incapped. Recall Naiikin and finish off the lair. Come upon a pack of dune lizards in a canyon and bomb the snot out of them. Unfortunately, one is stuck in a wall and while it can spit at me, naiikin nor myself can target it. I decide the mob is too much of a pain to go after if they're getting stuck so I move out of range, sit, and make more traps in a camp. I slide out repeatedly, Naiikin won't stay in the game to keep an eye on things for me (now not only is he autostoring, but in the camp he was disappearing underground) so I log out for the night.

Great post hun.

Dang, after reading this it makes me wonder why I'm still a CH. If it was'nt for the fact that I was a Master Rifleman as well I think I would have dropped it awhile ago. Goddess knows it costs me a small fortune in Pet and Regular Stims in order to keep my pets in the fight when I use them for missions. And it does'nt help when people find out I am a CH that they either want me to train mounts for free or they say "Why are you with such a broken class?".

Why indeed. I'm planning on keeping CH for the entire time I'm in the game. I love my pets and I would'nt trade them for anything.

Regarding fishing while in a camp. I successfully did this at the oasis sw of Eisley on Tat. There was a small part of land sticking out into the water on the sw side of the water. It allowed me to stay in camp and fish at the same time. Might also be lower sliding due to it being on the South part of Tatooine.

Good luck and keep the diary going.

The question I am starting to get is "You got any spare pets you can give me". I'm still trying to come up with a good answer. Perhaps "sure you got any spare stimpaks you can give me" or "sure you got any spare resources you can give me". Maybe put it in perspective.

How about this?

"Certainly. At my going rate of 50k an hour and this particular creature taking six hours to acquire...that comes to 300k please."

Try to have a durni or something similar handy just in case they call you on the bluff.
