This Field Guide is dedicated to Tivo
This unique creature of Dathomir is one of the most prized creatures in the galaxy. The Rancor gained notoriety after Jabba the Hutt displayed his rancor in his dungeon as a trophy and means for entertainment as he occasionally feeds the Rancor unwanted guests.
Rancors in general were first observed in use by the Nightsisters of Dathomir who use the rancors as mounts and also to assist and moving large quantities of natural resources from the mines to their camps. Imperials who unfortunately ran into wild Rancors found their lives in great danger where only an AT-ST could effectively ward off a rancor attack. Imperials further tried the harness the power of the rancor and control them as the Nightsisters. These efforts have been met with limited success.
The thick Rancor hide provides excellent protection from the hostile Dathomir climate and environment while also providing excellent protection from blasters. Blaster bolts do not effect the creature as times they seem to just bounce off. Once the blaster bolts do make their mark it only enrages the Rancor causing the rancor to administer more damage.

Habitat
I think an old CH friend of mine named Kade said it best when Rancors can be found anywhere and everywhere on Dathomir. The main concentration of Rancors can be found in what is commonly called Rancor Valley which starts from Dath Sarlacc west of the Trade Outpost. It is also not surprising as many Rancors can be found near the Nightsister strongholds and also around the imperial prison where they feed on escaping prisoners and the occasional stormtrooper.
The Nightsisters have vast knowledge of these legendary creatures and roam Dathomir without fear of them. Nightsisters respect the Rancors for what they are as dangerous and unpredictable preditors. They have also been very successful in harnessing this volatile predator using them as guardians for their fortress, pack animals, and as mounts.
The Empire has also affected the Rancors as some of the toxic waste that was originally omitted from crashed space pod contaminated a small area of Dathomir. Rancors who linger in this area are noticeably different as they are deformed in appearance and colorization. These Mutant Rancors attack anything that crosses their path including other Rancors.

Traits:
Rancors are well known for their ferocity attacking anything that wanders into their path. Rancors are seen roaming the rocky areas of Dathomir usually in packs ranging from 3 to 5 rancors. Rancors surprisingly seldom hunt alone and can easily overwhelm the largest creatures of Dathomir. The choice food for rancors is malkoks but they will eat anything that is unfortunate enough to be caught.
The Bull Rancor is regarded as the leader of the pack and uses a unique ability called a plague strike. Unlike other rancors the Bull produce a strong disease from their lymph nods and is transmitted through the air affecting all its victims up to a 10 meter circular radius. The victims immediately begin to lose their equilibrium as the Strong disease creates a very strong sense of dizziness incapacitating the victim and allowing the Rancors to feed at ease.
It is for this very reason that Bull Rancors were once thought to not be tamable or controllable as the plague strike killed anything that got to close. It was theorized that the Bull Rancor could never be controllable and further even if effectively tamed the Bull Rancor could still kill its owner by using its plague attack.Rancors likewise are also very territorial and will attack anything that comes to close to their lairs. A rancor lair is usually a cave that can have multiple entrances depending on its size. Outside a lair there is usually at least 2 Rancors roaming around it and the smell of Rancor Bile indicates this is a permanent settlement. Inside the lairs can be large numbers of Rancors with their offspring who only leave the lair to hunt with its parent.
Rancors are surprisingly lazy creatures who when not hunting are often seen sleeping in front of their lairs. Rancors sleep standing up as they lean down and brace their bodies with their long arms. From my studies Rancors can sleep up to 24 hours at a time and may be one of the few creatures in the galaxy that in periods in their life hibernates.

The First Tame on radiant Galaxy
What changed every Creature Handlers view of the Bull Rancor as a potential tamable creature came when a Bio Engineer named Tallia came up with a test to determine if a creature ever possessed the capability to reproduce. Rancors are a unique creature in that they spawn asexually and do not require a mate to reproduce. The test proved that Bull Rancors did indeed spawn babies and that out there in the wild a baby may someday be discovered. The test also produced the results that the Bull rancor reproduction rate was very slow and that they would reproduce once in their lifetime. Rancors have the life expectancy of several hundred years and due to the hostile nature of Dath a Bull Rancor birth would be a very rare occurence.
It was also discovered that once a Rancor grows up into adolescence, the youth rancors cannot be controlled. To get a successful tame a creature handler must find any rancor within its infancy. Rancors are also notorious for killing their offspring rather then allow a nightsister or creature handler from taking it away from the lair. Also there is the added danger of nightsisters who often will steal away a creature handlers baby rancor and in many cases try to kill all those they deem as trespassers on their planet.
It was with this understanding that I spend the months of agonizing searching to see where Bull Rancors most often roam. Using the science outpost as my base for operations I spent the next several months studying the Rancors. Any Ancient Bull Rancor that was encountered in the wild was tagged and monitored so could detect their movement and watch for any sign of a potential Bull Rancor birth.
After all my searching I decided to monitor the one place that not even the nightsisters not dare approach. I discovered a cave where many ancient bulls seemed to occasionally visit and spent several months simply watching and waiting. Since Rancors are so monstrous it was impossible to tell if a rancor was pregnant or not but I especially paid close attention to any exceptionally large Ancient Bull Rancors.
Then one morning I watched as the usual amounts of Rancors began to exit the cave to begin their never ending search for food. Unlike other instances 2 Bull Rancors, 1 ancient Bull Rancor, 2 rancors, and 1 rancor youth slowly wandered from the cave. Just as I was about to relocate I noticed something small running quickly to rejoin the group. My jaw dropped as unmistakable Bull rancor baby hobbled after its ancient parent.
The baby was already much larger then the standard rancor baby and I slowly stalked after the hunting pack of Rancors waiting for my chance to attempt this miraculous tame. Then my opportunity came as the rancors fed and when the baby tried to feed the older rancors pushed him away making him wait until the older rancors had their fill. The Bull Rancor baby then saw me and slowly began to stalk toward me. I pulled from my pack some pet food but unlike that which I fed to my pet arachne Shiva this food possessed some drugs that would make the rancor fall asleep. Once the rancor began to feed I called for an immediate transport for on sight evacuation.
My heart pounded as the sounds of the Rancors devouring their Malkok and the Bull Rancor eagerly ate what I gave him while nervously eyeing me. I did not move or even reach for my weapon as I watched the marvelous baby bull in front of me. The baby bull did something I did not expect as he looked up on me sinisterly followed by feeling very nauseous and realized the baby bull had diseased me. However fortunately over the time had been on dathomir had injected myself with a small amount of the disease compound hoping my body would becoming immune to the disease effects. At first it appeared I had failed but then I felt my body begin to respond to the disease and felt the feelings of disorientation begin to go away.
I heard the sounds of the ship as it approached. The baby Bull Rancor that had diseased found itself losing consciousness as it fell collapsed from the food had offered. I immediately whistled for Shiva my pet arachne who came from out of no where and attacked the ancient Bull. I pulled out my riffle and began to fire my specially made heavy armor piercing rounds into the Rancors. We quickly evacuated the area as crew members of the ship helped carry my Bull Rancor into the ship.

We quickly evacuated the area as crew members of the ship helped carry my Bull Rancor into the ship.
We kept the Bull Rancor drugged until we reached Galactica city on Lok and when he woke up found himself in a specially made habitat designed to resemble the Dathomir landscape and environment. Inside the habitat was Gauntlet, my trusted rancor who I hoped would help the Bull survive and begin to respond to my commands.
The Bull Rancor proved to be a very challenging creature to tame as despite the resembling habitat the Bull knew it was not home. The Rancor also was very unattentive to the young Bull Rancor and at times did not allow the Bull to feed regardless of how much prey was released into the habitat. To train the Bull rancor I used to food to reward him every time he responded positively to a command. The Bull Rancor was very stubborn as he often tried to disease and eat me.
However things changed as the Bull Rancor began to grow as within 6 months I had the Bull Rancor fully trained and responding to commands. The Bull Rancor further never tried to disease me as after the 100th time as the Bull must have decided the disease was not effective on me. The Bull Rancor has also already grown to the size of a normal rancor and one night when the Rancor tried to horde the food the Bull Rancor fought Gauntlet and won. Luckily Gauntlet was not badly hurt in the attack but the Bull Rancors assertion of dominance made Gauntlet wait his turn to feed.
By the time the Bull Rancor reached adulthood he became a very deadly part of my collection and has served me well. When he is not being lazy or sleeping he roams our city keeping the wild kimogilias from getting to close. The Bull Rancor also draws an incredible amount of visitors and has inspired other Ch on Radiant to attempt to find.
It took me 235 lairs to find a Bull Rancor baby

Why the Bull Rancor is so valuable
The Bull Rancor has the highest difficulty lvl out of the current tamable pets at 65 and possesses the legendary plague strike. Seeing the rancor in Jabba's palace made the rancor a must have pet and once the Bull Rancor became available to find did not stop until I had found it. The sheer size of the Bull Rancor makes it one of the most visibly stunning pet in the game as there is quite a difference in size from a regular rancor. By the time the Rancor reached cl 32 in datapad was already as big as my regular rancor.
The Bull Rancor's plague strike also makes it a very unique pet as it is an area strong disease attack that can hit up to 500 wounds per tick lasting for 8 min. The disease can be reapplied by the Bull Rancor and can hit health, action, or mind pools. The better resists and usually higher application of the disease makes this a far superior pet then the screecher.

Drawback
The Bull Rancor is very big making him also very slow. An ideal spot to use a Bull Rancor would be in open terrain or in an enclosed area such as a dungeon where its prey could not escape. Inside cities however the Bull Rancor finds itself confined and also with a large populace around it makes it agitated very easily. An enraged Bull Rancor in the Coronet starport is never a good thing for the creature handler controlling him or the people who may be stomped on by the massive creature. The Bull Rancor also requires a great deal of food each day to sustain itself. Two Malkok sized meals each day is needed to sustain this massive beast otherwise it may try to find other sources of food such as trying to consume its master.

Conclusion
The Bull Rancor is a very unique pet that very few creature handlers have. Those creature handlers who are fortunate to have tamed this magnificent creature soon find them to be one of their most cherished pets. It is a long search to find such a creature but the successful tame is well worth the amount of time it takes to find one.

If oyu have seen a rancor hunting party or even a rancor killing solo group then you would think differently, 1-3 hits=rancor death

Think differently?
The Bull Rancor is not like other rancors and those who foolishly attack them without taking into account their plague strike pays for it with massive wounds. A Bull Rancor is one of the best pets for creature handlers to have and one mistake in attacking a Bull Rancor can easily send you to the clone center.
For a creature handler who is trying to master ch I think a rancor is a good creature to start experimenting with trying to tame as they are easy to find and difficult to tame as a novice. Rancors also still hold the awe inspiring sight that can be seen in the movie return of the Jedi. Especially the Bull Rancor that dwarfs the rancor in size.

yes but spamming the B.rancors plague strike is worth it when the TKM stacker3incapps of the 500 mind disease ticking.
So worth a fart in PvP or not? militek if u could answer this question.
