I keep seeing this being stated over and over again on these boards, but I don't see where this is coming from. I would love to be wrong on this. But in all my testing of pets in PvP on TC and on Live, they are merely just an annoyance. Most of the true pvper's woudln't even be phased by a pet attacking them and the damage is insignificant. Your speed, accuracy, and defenses are seriously lacking compared to other dual elite professions, and the pets don't seem to be making up for it. And yes, I understand they are probably going to be ineffective against jedi. (I know for a fact they are). SO are all these statements just based on PvPing non jedi? and if so what classes? I can't believe this has truly been tested, so I am starting to think these claims are groundless or lacking true PVP testing. Examples would be nice. Like I said I want to be wrong on this since I love the content aspect of pets, but the reality on LIVE seems to be proving otherwise.

I think alot of this was based on some early results, not to mention people are used to taking down pets in a few hits from the old system and have been a little sloppy in pvp attacking the pet first. Sooner or later ignoring the pet and zeroing in on the ch will become the norm as it was once long ago.

Pets/Creatures continue to be balanced so and coverted BE pets are having mixed results, I thinnk there have been some fairly decent conversions giving some people an edge, others are not that fortunate.

When people were postingabout pvp pets many people were new to they're skills, as people in a particular profession get acclamated I think many will find pets weaker than what was originally thought.

I have to agree that we are pretty useless in PvP. I've tested a number of scenarios and none of them favourable. The major issues are the poor damage caused by the combat level issue and the lack of specials. In fact I was watching a MCH with three good pets out yesterday and they were doing a whopping 25 damage each against their opponent, that is when they managed to break root!

The simple answer in my book is for Pets damage to be linked to the highest level pet/player they are grouped with, similar to the damage they receive. Then reintroduce the pet specials. Voila!

with the lvl system in place, it would be nice to increase our max lvl to 80. At least then we would have a fighting chance.

Ok back on topic.........

If you were lucky enough to have a few pets with CL40-50 and500+ damage still in deed form and not on a vendor(pet deeds on vendors didnt convert for some reason)when the CU hit they automatically lost their light armor which allows you to convert by level and usuially wind up with a Cl60-70ish critter. These are the pets that peple are reffering to when they say CH is good in PvP.

I crafted a level 62 Bol with 12K HAM and 675 damage after the CU. Would that be any good in PvP?

I'll throw my 2c in since I happen to pvp with my pets on a daily basis. I'm MCH/MBH 4xx3 Carb. Personally I wouldn't pvp without my pets. I have a lvl 70 Huurton with 10.3k HAM and 440-450 damage who combined with my proton carb will shred people. I also have a spider with 12.1k HAM and 395-500 damage who does the same.

The trick is to load the person up with states, keep them KD when you can, and kite them so you're pet can do damage while you shoot them. If you're going to pvp as a CH you have to put the prep work into it first. You need to make sure you have the strongest pets available to you anda good armor and weapons setup. Food helps a ton also. It can be the difference between a victory and a defeat. If anyone has any questions feel free to pm me.

I'd be really interested in seeing a screencap of a lvl 70 pet doing significant damage against a level 80 combat pro in PvP ... enough for them to just ignore them until they've killed the CH.

We still haven't actually answered the question if our pets are good in pvp against artisans. Do we have any artisans who are willing to test this? I'm willing to try one of my pets against an unarmed and unarmored artisan

ROFL

Well that answers my question really. The general consensus seems to be that CH as a whole still sucks in PVP. I am sorry to the person who thinks they are good with his BE pets and proton carbine, but I doubt you are as effective as you think you are. Especially against any jedi with heal capabilities above novice. And under your scenario, alot of things need to be going your way for it to be truly effective, which to me is just not worth the hassle. When I say effective, I don't mean when jupiter is in the second house and the jedi just ate a burrito and has bad gas. lol

they always ignore my pets and hit me. So it's better to stack another combat prof or to take a healing prof in pvp instead of ch.
