If we ever do get a combat rebalance, then I want to get a group of like 30 or more Master CH, all with 2 pets called, and go on a rampage Do the math (I would except I only have 10 fingers and toes), that would make for a mob to be reckoned with.WE COULD RULE THE WORLD!!!MWAHAHAHAHAHA

You know, it's kind of fun being delusional. You really should give it a try.

Well, if you're referring to PvP, then you'd see a sudden simultaneous drop in Pet Vitality as most Elite Combat Classes have at least one powerful AOE.

If you are referring to PvE, then more than likely, you'd see a bunch of pets runaway in all different directions, attempting to reach they're optimal combat range. Chaos! PURE CHAOS!

*sighs* You know we're not getting anything even close to effectiveness in the reballance . . . it's a lie. We have to stop kidding ourselves, seriously. Do you REALLY think they'd give us our pets power back and have everyone screaming Pokemon again?

Or perhaps the lame useless CH's could actually learn some combat skills rather than standing and waiting for their pet to do all the work.

I don't see nothing wrong with the combat at the mo

My pets are purely there because they handle the damage better than my char can and not under attack I can destroy anything we are fighting. As for PVP, then pets have their rightful place......pvp should never have been about who had the biggest pet and sucked big time........keep CH's outta it i think, most say attack and stand there confused as to what next to do anyway.

No rebalance required...........please move on.....

Not sure how any unbalances in SWG is my fault...but thats freaky forum people for ya I guess.

Thinking on things I read when starting SWG and before it came out, the emphasis was really on groups and team work (bit on an alien concept for the modern world) so it had to happen that pets would be brought down to size. The ideas I believe the Dev's have try to enforce players team up and work together (just look at the dugeons lately), so i think CH pets are the same.

SWG is not meant to be something where anyone can take out an uber pet and suddenly become invincible while they watch their pet do all the work. Again the balance isn't easy.........how do you decide to make a pet stronger to help balance out a pure outdoors player (ie MCH/Master Ranger) and someone who has CH purely to wipe out Rebels/Imperials......it's a fine line which I dobt can ever be spot on to please everyone.

Making pets too strong brings in major issues for PVP........whilst I no longer am involved in PVP at all, it doesnt mean I or anyone else should totally disregard the PVP balance just because it's not what we do and vice versa.......

Anyway nice to see some friendly comments and opinions.......a thumbs up for democratic free speech

Tell that to my TKM/MDOC alt character. If it aint 100% kinetic resists it aint a problem. I solo just about everything and have not been incapped since March or April. Good armor, buffs, and food makes me invincible. On the rare occasion when my HAM takes a little wear, I can cure it for over 1000 with one stim. You are probably a rifleman who sends in his pets to take the heat and snipes away from a safe distance.

Several of these people do have combat skills while others don't depending on their play style so comments about how they should getthose skillsare irrelevant. Your post was inflamitory and insulting so you shouldn't be surprised that someone got upset. It isn't about free speach its about tone and attitude.

It isn't balanced in any form or fashion. The problem is you don't realize how weak pets are today from what I see in your post. I can tame a pet who's parent has 6k ham and decent protection and end up with a 4k ham pet with no protections. So the pet can't handle much smaller creatures much less one its own size as for PvP they are totally useless against all the rediculous buffs that exist today. If SOE is encouraging team play then why invent buffs that allow me to solo massive wild creatures without a worry? These guys aren't asking to be uber just functional and pets aren't functional today for anything more than showing off and collecting.

I, for one, do not care for being anywhere near invincible..it would eventually get boring mowing down every opponent I encounter. All I want is for the other half of my skill points (Master Creature Handler) to have a use in the area of the game I enjoy: PvP. Frankly, I don't see why it's so bad for us to be tough in any way, shape, or form. Look at the Riflemen.. AP 3 weapons, high-damaging area attacks, and a speed cap of 1.0 at master. And the devs don't seem to think they're too powerful.

The other day, me and two friends of mine, all of us Master Heavy Swordsmen, were working over a canyon krayt dragon's mind for about a half hour..it was almost dead. A Master Rifleman and a Commando come in and lay waste to its health and kill it before we can getits mind to zero in about 5 minutes, and they got loot rights. And even though I loved being a Fencer, I must admit that I think it is truly grossly unbalanced..it's just crazy that I could CoB and use Blind 2 and solo Fort Tusken unbuffed and unarmored.

Now, I ask you this: Why did they take CH, a functional profession, and beat it into uselessness, but then take Fencer, a broken profession, and turn it into a walking slaugherhouse?! My God, how chaotic this game is...

I don't ask for CH to be Uber just viable.
I want my pets to last longer than 3-5 sec in PvP, and tank for more than 1 lair in PvE.
PvE there are work arounds like bufing the secondary stats so in 5 min your pet can go from 1 HAM to 100% again, however those work arounds are killed by the autostore bug.

I think the question is, HOW do you balance a MCH in SWG?

I have a MCH myself and love him to death. Fun in PvE. Worthless in PvP. But, for the life of me, I can't figure out a way to balance a CH in this game.

A MCH by itself would be fine. Make the creatures like they are in the wild and throw in some neat special abilities. BUT when you combine that with MR (which my char aspires to be) or any other Master class combat profession and things are thrown WAY out of balance.

How would you do it?

I guess you could make the uber pets super hard to tame even for masters, but I'm pretty sure the wailing on these boards would be legendary.

So, I ask, how would you fairly balance pets for both PvP and PvE in SWG?

For anyone that thinks pets are the overpowering part of the combat equation, I would like you to put your gun away and go hunt with pets only. Then put your pet away and hunt with your gun only. Then I want you to come back here and tell me which is the problem.

I think the question is, HOW do you balance a MCH in SWG?

Don't let someone use a weapon while they use a pet? Disallow special attacks? Cut damage from the pet while wielding something other than a control device?

I am sure there are several solutions if it was determined there should be one.
