Thread: If we ever DO get a combat rebalance...
You seem to forget that several lame CH's rely on their pets to BE their combat skills. Should we be as strong as a "true" combat class? No. But you know what my rancor should be able to have a 50/50 chance against in combat, one on one? A RANCOR. Wow, who would think that a pet that is as good as its wild counterpart was an unreasonable request?
Tell you what . . . if CH isn't your combat skill, take your arguments to the forum that is. Unfortunately it's people whouse CH as a BACKUP skill who screw over the whole ballance thing for those of us who use it as a primary. Thanks for taking a decent profession and turning it into pointless meat shields and **edit** it up for the rest of us.
The original intent of my post was to be humorous, I wasn't expecting the reactions it got. I've never been anything but an MCH, wonder if other professions generate this sort of, um, enthusiasm. A couple of points...
We all do know that the combat rebalance won't make pets stronger, right? In fact, it will make few if any actual changes to the CH profession.
I do agree that it was never the intent to make CH with their pets uber/invincible, but it was also never the intent that any profession be uber/invincible. No one should be able to solo a bull rancor or solo one of the caves- at least certainly not as easily as it's done now. And just 2 people of whatever profession should never be able to take on a krayt dragon.
Creature Handler is a true combat profession. I've debated thistopic inpast threads and am more than willing to debate it again with anyone who thinks they can make areasonable case otherwise
Whether or not it's an effective combat profession is another issue entirely. BlindTyldak said it well: CH rely on their pets to BE their combat skill. Though obviously I disagree with him when he says that CH should not be as strong as a"true" combat class since I believe itis a combat profession. So no reason it shouldn't be just as strong.
As to howto be "fair" and balanced....I'm not sureit's possible.
LOL, first, I'm a she. ![]()
Second, I would agree with you that we should be as strong as any other combat profession IF it cost more skill points. Right now there's no other combat profession that you can double up on and use both skills at the same time, other than CH and another fighting skill, which is why we got the nerf. If a person could only be a CH, then yes, we should be as strong as a TKA or BH or anything like that. As we stand right now, we can't be, simply because add our skill to anything else andyou'd havethe most uber combo out there by far. Again, lol.

MCH with another profession definitely should be as strong as (well stronger than) a TKA, master Swordsman.
That's the problem. MCH with another profession WAS much stronger. And since MCH was the only class that allowed you to use multipleweapons as once (your pets and your combat weapon) everyone took it as a second profession, at least to a point.
Our pets are not hurting right now by any means.
Yeah, no kidding, that's the problem.
I just think that a master TKA should not be able to run away from a clawn using Gurrek with ease or knock it to the ground like it is nothing.
You're completely right, they shouldn't be able to. But they shouldn't also have to deal with the controller of said Gurrek hitting them with a flamethrower at the same time, or the controller being another MTKA who is now not only going to hit them with a Gurrek, but also hit them themselves.
Pets IMO should be meant to compliment the other portion of a profession that we use.
It's this thinking that made pets suck. Because people used it as a complimenting profession, they became insanely powerful. While they overnerfed it, it had to be done. After the reballance, CH on its own is still going to be drastically lower than any other profession, simply because people like to mix and match.
MCH with Flame IV or pistoleer uses every skill point, it should be on par with master commando, master Bh, Master TKA.
MCH with ballanced pets and flame IVwould wipe the ground with a BH, commando, or TKAany day. We watched it happen. Many times over. And listened to the screaming. And this is where it brought us. Don't ask for that gain, PLEASE.
