Thread: Good things about CH

Ok this is a little overdue.

How about we all list the things we like about CH. I see lots of negative (from myself as well). How about a list of good? Just something so we can show the DEVs and everyone else the things we think are correct and that we like.

1. The ability to use creatures, as pets, combat partners, mounts, etc.

2. Finding rares is a GOOD feeling.

3. BE creatures are fabulous for tanking.

Now thats just a quick off the top of my head thing. I personally have been a MCH since july of 2003 and will be until I get rid of the character.

Nice post!

How about pets assist in roleplay? I've seen CH's with "stables" they've created as well as seeing pets do tricks on command for entertainment value. CH's are great at this stuff!

Apprentice xp is really easy to get when you shout "training your non-CH pets and saddling your non-CH mounts for axp!"

More seriously, the best part about CH is that it gives me an excuse to explore the entire game universe in search of interesting pets.

We interact with animals on a level other players cannot. Whereas other players may see a Rancor or Crimson Razor Cat and despair, we look at it as an opportunity. Where others see an adversary we see a potential companion. Also, there is no feeling like hunting with you and your creatures. Better than hunting with a team of players in my opinion. No bickering, arguing, fighting over who gets what resources and loot. I love it.

I think we should be point out more of what's wrong with the profession, and we should be making an uproar over it. Being complacent doesn't help anything.

Besides, if there was nothing good about this profession, I wouldn't have stuck with it for over a years time...

How about....

  1. We are the real definition of "Solo Group"

  2. We can hunt most stuff unarmored AND unbuffed.

  3. Don't need no pathetic medic skill to use a pet stim.

  4. And most the time, don't need medic skill, cause our "companions" protect us.

  5. We can amuse ourselves easily by going to a n00b city and having a rancor follow a new guy.

  6. We have a more variaty and interesting weapons than most. i.e. I'm a TKM, look at my VK, I'm a MasterSwordman, look at my Powerhammer and Scythe. I'm a Creature handler, look at my (22 pets later) and if I had more pack space, I could show you a few more.

It's not about being complacent. It's about not letting your. . .I'll just say it, bitterness, blind you to the benefits of this profession that you DO enjoy. I'm going to say what I have said time and again since joining the ranks of the CH. I think this profession is plenty of fun even with the supposed "nerfs" many long time CHs say is ruining this profession. Enjoy what you can do as a CH, because it can always be worse. The devs could say "well, you know, since these CH's are so dissatisfied with this occupation, why don't we just get rid of it altogether". Don't think it couldn't happen. If you like being a CH as much as you claim, stop focusing on the negative and remember why you still bear the title of Creature Handler.

We are a source of interest for new players by showing them some of what is out there in the wilds to greet them.

Creature Handlers as a whole have a broad spectrum of skills taken to support us and our companions thus providing somewhat easier access to training when we are in new player centric towns.
