Thread: Mounts vs. Vehicles

I aggree the mounts will be obselete when vehicles come out, and the big question can u pull the vehicle from the datapad in the same fashion as a mount or can it be pulled out anywhere at any time.

I think to make mount viable is to allow more actions to be taken while mounted like surveying, mask scent, tracking etc. instead of having to dismount then remount, This would definately make mounts worth keeping if not then their use is too limited to choose over a vehicle.

I'd say your mount business is entirely dependant on who ends up being able to make vehicles. There is some discussion now about only Master Artisans, whether the Devs put any kind of balancing factor to vehicles (limited range before recharge would be nice, require batteries or some kind of power storage device) and how difficult it is to repair damage to them.

There are a LOT of unknowns yet with vehicles, so I would suggest waiting till they are shaken out more towards mid-December before you give up the ghost on CH.

Good call, Rorenikibi. I still find it hard to fathom that to have a ridden creature, you need to have close to a Master CH, but to make a vehicle all you need is a handful of ore and metals and Engineering IV.

Consumables will be a hug balancing factor, if they make it into vehicle usage. Vehicle decay will, as well.

Based on the Test Center current situation, vehicles are stored and called just like mounts - store them anytime, call them only in camps, in cities (OUTSIDE) and near your declared residence.

Well that wasn't the only reason, but the main one. Besides, I never sell mine for the 50-100k anyway. I always thought that was too high.

Well, I wouldn't drop it anyway, until I see how they are going to work. That would just be plain stupid.

Okay, I'm Master CH and am concerned with what will happen when vehicles come out. Right now, mounts are the big thing and I can make some money. But, what happenes when vehicles come out, seems like mounts will be out of style then.

Mounts will be quickly forgotten by those who want to be able to evade attacks. Vehicles are MUCH faster and can outrun almost all MOB's (narglatch cubs being a glaring exception).

However, you can't attack at all from vehicles, but you can from mounts. If they add carrying capacity to mounts, that COULD make them balance out a bit. And who knows how you will be able to fix vehicles, or who will be able to (will the city garages be NPC fixing places?), whereas you can always hit a mount with stim's to fix it back up.

I'd say don't bet your livelihood on mounts, UNLESS vehicles start like mounts did, in the 100k to 150k range. Now I see mounts selling for 10k or less. Some even "free to a good home" folks out there now.

Yes, that's what I'm afraid of. Considering, the main reason I became CH was to sell Mounts. I may decide to drop CH once vehicles come out, I don't know.

Newbie CH here, and I have a few questions on how mounts compare to vehicles.

1) Are mounts as fast as vehicles?
2) Can you leave mounts unattened while in combat, like you can with Vehicles?
3) Do mounts pick up your TEF like vehicles do?
4) Do mounts require any kind of maintenance like vehicles do (I.e. food)

Any other thoughts on mounts vs. vehicles?

1) Nope

2) Yep - and they can join in

3) Don't know, can never be arsed to pvp or pick a faction

4) Occasional food, but their bar doesn't diminish like a vehicles when it's called - they have to take damage

Vehicles are faster but common as muck. Creatures may take longer to get there, but are a far classier option in my opinion.

I always think they are classy to, and gee it's a nice way to die, classy, get nailed by a night sister adept from your mount you look so classy laying there while your mount drools on you.

Of course when they shoot at you when you are on a vehicle they kill your vehicle first, then you.

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.
