Thread: Made MCH tonight, looking for a Good pet any tips?
The problem with Rancors is tha they are just too big! (and too *slow*)They block the field of view, make it hard to see what's going on. Your melee companions will hate it when you have one out in many circumstances1 .......and don't even think of taking one out in tight quarters like the tusken fort, dungeons, etc.
Your best best (IMHO)is to get a couple of good BE CL35 pets. these can be had with 10k+ HAM, and 300+ damage, nice specials, etc, and you can get them in small, FAST skins. A Razor cat can keep up with a land speeder in many circumstances. Its cool to tour the countryside with your CL70 cat chasing along.
I have an MCH that loves to ride a CL35 Cu Pa with 10k HAM, 350 DAM, Strong Poison, and knockdown. While riding to a mission I have out my CL35 Razor cat companion, also a CL35 with 10k HAM, 350 DAM, and Strong Poison, Stunning Strike. (do the math, that's 20k+ HAM, and 700+ DAM, you ain't gonna get that off a single CL70!).
I do use CL70 on many occassions, but usually in smaller skins than a Rancor. I have a really niceCL69 Huurton that is a blast to hunt with, and like most BE, I have a few "Killer Wabbits" (CL70 Durni) thatare a hoot to play.
Thanks for the Advice my friends, or should I say fellow MCH (there i said it).
As for the negative comments, I am well aware of why pets seem to suck, Im not stupid. The top end animals are nerfed to make it easy to kill by all the other classes, because thats all they do. Got to hunt Rancors Got to Kill Rancors Arrrgh they are too hard nerf Rancors Rancors are lame now Got to hunt Krayts Got to Kill Krayts arrrgh Krayts are too hard Nerf Krayts arrrgh Krayts are lamo this game suxxorz.
I think anyone with a brain can pretty much get to grips with the american psychology.
When I used to solo, I used my triple Greater Sludge Panthers. Just cause 3 targets = more damage, then one giant target (Graul).
For Force sensitives, I use my Bark Mite Burrower Queen. only CL 60 though. ![]()
I think that the Burrower is rare to find as a baby if at all, as I have had her since about 2 months after release.
Welcome to the addiction, Mu. Glad you're already up to speed to the Great Disillusionment of Pets vs Wild Things. I have a few higher level pets, but in order to have a CL 70 one it either has to be non-aggro (unlikely) or you need +Tame items froma BE/Tailor. With the state of things now, you're not going to get much bang for your buck (crush for your credit?) out of a CL 50+ pet. Not only do they not have the HAM to stand up to most of what you'll be fighting, two CL 35 pets will consistantly deal out more damage with less constant monitoring by you. Plus, if something uses a special like knockdown you have a backup pet beating the crud out of your target while you want for the other one to climb back to its feet (paws? hooves?).
And the argument about blocking your view is very valid. I love my grauls but I'd still rather throw out my mountain squills for anything indoors so I can still see.
i have been a MCH on kauri since like the beginnign, it was the first profession i mastered and i refuse to give it up....yes its been nerfed quite a bit and we suck now lol but i love the profession... anyways i refuse to use any BE pets either.. if i dont tame it, i dont want it. i feel a connection with my pets when i tame them. and actually when i go to fight i find that my favorite pets i use are my mountain squill.. i have alot of rare pets, but my mountain squill never seem to let me down.. and they are such cute pets, especially when they scratch their asses lol i have i think 5 mount squill... i have teams for every pet, so one is always with the other....
i love afro and pick(my mount squill) lol
My favorite pet, out of both my BE pets and tamed pets, is easily Lethal the Gaping Spider Recluse. Tanks like a champ, poisons opponents often, and is a very faithful companion. Plus she's kind of intimidating looking.
Definitely recommend trying to find one.
I think it's easy to just go get a rancor or tough BE pet, but I think there's something funner about finding a tamed pet that is a good complement to your specific style of play and combat. I happen to like insects and spiders in real life, so my datapad is about one third full with those kinds of pets. Find something that is a good pet in your eyes. Tame all of the tough things you see. Just because you tamed it, doesn't mean you have to keep it!
Have fun!
I have both types in my datapad, I have a tough little BE kwi who has been a good grinder for me and I wont hear a word against him, I fact my first pet was a carrion spat got me to 2223 then i got the BE pet to take me tomaster, got ALL my exp fo both of em.
Since MCH i have been sharnaff hunting, with 3 cats all tamed from wild Gtr Sludge Panther and male and female razor cats, its good fun. And duo with 2 crimson razorcats all natural. I was really looking forward to being able to trio, had them tamed and ready for ages waiting. My trio of cats have between them 20kish ham and 750 damage amd a good spread of specials.
I have grauls growing (one of each) for a duo. For a single pet I have a natural Rancor.
The issue is a big one, and its well documented, the is only ONE (yep ONE) tamable pet for Master CH ie between cl 60 and cl70. It is also rare the rocking horse poop. Even if you had one you wouldnt hunt with it. BE gives most of us the only chance to have a 50+ let alone a 60+ pet.
Sooo its going to have the requisite ar1 60kinetic and some stun and some damge stats and about the only real choices you have are the SKIN and specials. There, I answered my own question. The whole prof boils down to specials - LOL ans of course different resists for hunting npc humaniods.
So the best BE pet will have the resists you need and a choice of specials and skin. So all I need to know is what 2 specials would be the most effective. Of course that is dependent of weapon choice, I have pistol I dont have any special attack except melee range knockdown. None of the Stun/Intimidate/Dizzy/Blind variety. Drat ill start another thread.
