Heya folks.

First, the confession...

Post CU, I respeced into CH with a character I play only occassionally on a server different from my usual. I'm not eactly what you'd call a dyed in the wool Creature Handler, but I missed the profession from my pre CU days when I gave it a try for a while.

To the point- I noticed the complaints about taming high level creatures. It seems so many people are having trouble, and I just wanted to point out that petting, reassuring, and nuzzling can be done to pets you haven't yet tamed. If you watch carefully, you'll note that the wild baby will go into a relaxed posture. Relaxed babies are much more agreeable babies.

A macro for those that don't want to RP this each and every time:

Tame

/tame;
/follow;
/pause 5;
/reassure;
/pause 5;
/pet;
/pause 5;
/reassure;
/pause 5;
/pet;
/pause 5;
/reassure;
/pause 10;
/stopfollow;

Maybe this has been posted repeatedly before this, but I just thought I'd share in case it hasn't.

Happy Taming

*edited. Will continue to update as I refine the macro with new versions if they prove more successful. If anyone has a version that works better, please share it so we can spare as many as possible the 45 min long taming process some have had to endure .

Hey, cool, Lowy. I do that all the time, but never bothered to write a macro for it! Thanks!

Just when I thought I knew it all...comes a post that shines a light of hope on a frustrating game dynamic. I will try this out. I used to Kneel before my babys in hopes that posture wasn't as threatening to the baby. A superstitious person would say it worked some of the time. It wasn't fun having to stand before high tailing it out of the aggro'd baby's territory when a tame attempt really went south.

Hmmm maybe this is why I have had better luck with taming than other guildmates in the high CL pets area? I also wonder if there is a hidden modifier that helps taming. the other night two of my guildees were out and tried taming two smoking forest blistmoks, I had mine in less than 6 tames with one aggro ( and it had it's Fleet Foot 3) the other two took 10 tries with three aggros, and one of the others had a full taming suit, so not sure how that applies.

honestly did the devs have to make the actions towards fearsome beasts sound so pathetically soft! Honestly man, this isnt the simpsons, if you 'nuzzle' a rancor he will bite your bloody head off! Bah!

I've tried these, and aside from making my MonCal make a disgusting grunting sound when I do /nuzzle, it doesn't seem to help at all.

I''ve tuned the macro a bit, discarding the /nuzzle command, and attempting to use /calm in it's place, and my success rate has been even higher with this method. Try it out, or don't, hehe, but taming a level 70 within 5 tries using only BE clothing is a nice change from 10 tries on a level 65. Edited my above post with the latest version.

With one rather brutal exception of trying to tame a lowlands blistmok raptor last night, every pet I have used this macro on, I have tamed with 4 or fewer attempts, many on the first attempt. This is a major improvement over the 10+ tries it has been taking me in the last month to tame anything over CL60.

That raptor was funky, though... I was getting the "can't tame that" bug all over the place, and I found this raptor that I was able to tame, but after half an hour, I finally gave up on. Moved about 300 meters away and found another one that tamed on the first attempt.
