Thread: The CH nerf...what should replace the current system.

I though that all you CH's might want to take a look at this, because IF you are to be nerfed, you might as well get a decent system to make up for it. Now, I myself am a marksman/scout on my way to BH, and I have only been in a fight with a single CH, and was able to beat him fairly easily (he did have poor weapon skills, though), but since so many people seem to think that CH is over-powered, I shall offer my solution the "problem".

My system would totally re-organize the way that the amount of creatures CH's would be able to bring out at one time. Here is how it works:

Each creature is assigned a "lethality" number., depending how much damage it can deal out, its HP's, speed of attack, etc. Lets say it is 1-100, so a minor wort would have a Lethality, or "L", number of 1, where as a Kryat Dragon (yes I KNOW they cannot be tamed) has a L of 100.

Now, how does this factor into number of creatures controlled? Well, 1st off, lets scrap this whole +1 creatures as you go up the skill tree. Replace it with Creature Control +20 for each skill box that would have given you +1 creatures. This means that you can now control any amount of creature(s) (up to a max of 10, lets say) that add up to that number of L.

The explanation may be a bit confusing, so lets see how this would work in reality.

Lets say you are a novice creature handler, and your first box gives you +20 Creature Control. Lets say Worts have an L number of 5, crazed durni's have a L number of 10 and Mountain Dewbacks have number of 20. So, given these L numbers (which are only vague guesses based on there relitive toughness to ME ) a CH with +20 to CC (Creature Control) could have 4 worts, 2 crazed durni's, or 1 Mountain Dew back...OR they could have 2 worts, and 1 crazed Durni, or just one wort and a creature of 15 L, etc, etc...

Now, this system may seem complex but, it is actually relatively simple, once you understand it and solves quite a few number of grips with the current CH system, namely:

1. CH having 3 or more top of the line Pets (ie Rancor's) out at once- Since even Master CH's will have only a 100 or Creature Control Points under this system, and creatures like rancors wil be some where in the 60-80 range, they will only be allowed to have 1 of them out at a time, perhaps in addition to some other much lesser creatures.

2. Realism- They system is much more realistic, as tougher pets should require far greater concentration to control, and controlling more then 1 at a time is just plain wrong

3. CH Nerf fears- This still doesn’t effect how hard it is to train pets, or how many pets in totality a CH can own (a major CH fear, Im sure)

Now, what does everyone thing of this system....any questions, comments? Does it solve the "problem"?

This alters the current system way too much. I believe we can find a resonable solution (certifications?) within the system that's currently in place.

So you have never played the class and have no idea how tuffa Rancor is fighting for you, yet you feel need to suggest how to fix CHs?

Heads-up on a change...

...unfortunately, it is probably one you won't like.

There are currently two tamable creatures that are unbalanced due to an abnormally high armor rating. The Gurreck & Giant Sand Beetle are going to have their armor changed from Medium to Light.

We're going to have to go through the armor ratings for all creatures, particularly tamable ones, in the near future, to catch any other glitches like this one.

I gotta say DITTO to the abvoe user. your not a ch and your coming to a ch board telling us we are going to be nerfed and offering your solution for a class you dont play, dont know how to play, and you think you know the solution?

Sorry, run along. go back to your board and post how to fix your class. leave us alone please.

Now look, I didnt come here to ruffle any feathers, in fact I didnt come here even to SAY there should be a nerf...I am merely saying that if it IS to be nerfed, is this system better then other proposed systems?

There are some not so obvious benifits to...namly that novice creature handlers can have multiple creatures even at that low level...which I think is a good thing...no?

PS I also understand that you are pissed that I have never played a CH, but I have read a HUGE amount of posts on the subject, so I think I have a fairly good grasp of what is involved...

they already have a system like this in game. Every creature has a dificulty level assigned. Most good starting xp pets are around dificulty lvl 9-12

as such you could just break it down by dificulty level

Novice: up to Diff lvl 10
Taming I: +5 Diff lvl (15)
Taming II: +10 Diff lvl (25)
Taming III: +5 Diff lvl (30)
Taming IV: +10 Diff lvl (40)
Master: +20 Diff Lvl (60)

That would scale what you can tame nicely.

I dont think your new system would work. All the creature handlers would be runing around with tons of pets; it would create alot of lag. Also, one part of the CH is being able to control more creatures at a time. It would be easier just to put atype of lvlrestriction on higher creatures.

It's obvious he isn't a CH because as all CHs know you get more exp for lower tames than higher tames so all this would do is skyrocket the amount of exp you will gain by having multiple low lvl creats out.

I am going to go ahead and say I TOTALLY agree with KrYpToFoX. The current system totally annialates the validity of lower level pets. In the end, everybody is going to be fighting with rancors, or similar stat pets. Now, how many super strong pets are there? Not very many at all. So the variety of pets that you will see is going to be very little. With the proposed system people will be able to use weaker pets because it will allow them to have more.

The problem is the way Creature Handlers obtain xp, which I think is absurd and should be changed ASAP.A CH should not get full xp for hitting a mob once with his pet, it should be based on the amount of damage that pets do to the target. That way the amount of pets will not create a problem, and won't speed up the advancement of CHs.

This will also require that they change the requirements for pets.A novice CH without any skill boxes should NOT be able to control a pet with 7000 HAM. They should assign all creatures valid levels so a CH can only control a pet of a valid strength for his skill. Notice I said control, even if a Master CH sold him the pet, he should not be able to call it up unless he has sufficient skill.

Actually I am a novice CH and I like the suggestion. Creatures already have a difficutly assigned to them, but you need to be a master scout to see it. That could be used for the L number. As a novice CH I don't think I should be able to control a rancor. That does not make sence to me. I know I can't tame one, but I could obtain one and use it. I also know I won't get much exp from using it, but that is another matter.

I'm not quite sure how I would divide up the levels for how much difficulty level you can control at each level, but I think I would let a master CHobtain three rancors, someone with level IV creature managementobtain two rancors, someone with level III creature managementobtain one rancor. Someone with level II creature managementobtain a creature just shy of a rancor.

According to www.swgcenter.coma rancor has a difficulty of 50. A cu pa has a difficulty of 11.

Here is my breakdown of the amount of difficutly levels you can contain in your datapad

Novice 15 - Hermit Spider Queen (10), Desert Eopie (5)

CM I30 - Bull Bantha (15), Desert Eopie (5), Bearded Jax (5) Tatooine Mynock (3), Water Bug (2)

CM II45-Crazzed Gurreck (25), Bull Bantha (15), Desert Eopie (5)

CM III 95 -One rancor (50), Crazzed Gurreck (25), Bull Bantha (15), Desert Eopie (5)

CM IV 145 -Two rancors (50), Crazzed Gurreck (25), Bull Bantha (15), Desert Eopie (5)

Master 195 - three rancors (50), Crazzed Gurreck (25), Bull Bantha (15), Desert Eopie (5)

Obviously you can have lots more creatures with lower difficulties. I don't even think I would put a limit on it as the datapad can only hold 100 objects including pets and waypoints anyway.

I would also give bonus experience to the CH for taiming a type of creature he/she has never tamed before.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As an alternative to allowing the CH to store a limited number of creature dificutly levels I would have a rating system for difficulty level, similar to weapons. A novice marksman can use a laser rifle, but his damage will be greatly reduced because he is not certified to use that weapon. Something similar can be used for CHs.

Here is what difficulty level the CH would be certified in.

Novice -10 -Hermit Spider Queen

CM I - 20 -Mountain Dewback

CM II - 30 - Giant Sand Beetle

CM III - 40 - Rancor Youth

CM IV - 50 - Rancor

Master - 60 -Bull Rancor

He/She can still have the same number of active and stored pets as now. He/She can store and tame pets the same as is the case now. But if he/she tries to use a pet with a difficulty level above what he/she is certified in the level of control will be reduced. By reduced, I mean that the creature may not obay commands given to it. The higher the difficulty above what the CH is rated for the higher the command failure rate. There might even be a chance that the creature would turn on the CH or revert to the wild state. I think this would eliminate a lot of CH haters out there and it might even make the class more interesting.

The failure rate could be Creature level minus rating level. So a novice trying to control a Rancor would have a failure rate of 40%. Each failed command will have a 2% chance of the creature attacking the handler and an additional 5% chance of going wild. So a novice trying to control a mountain dewback will have a failure rate of 10%. On an average the creature will turn on him 1 in 500 commands.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a side note. Please put away the huge creatures where lots of other people are. It is anoying to be trying to look aroud or through a dino all day long. I know the large creatures are neet, but please be considerate of other people.

I can't wait for the CH to be nerfed. It's a big exploit is what it is. It's taking advantage of the dev's oversight to the path of mastering CH. You will be nerfed and you should. None profession should be so easy to master. And I hope you are all sent back down to novice creature handler and actually earn your way to be a master instead of using an exploit to get to the highest level.

You tell me the difference between what the current CH are doing and someone using rifles to farm points out of the "mired in mud" bug that slows down huge animals to a crawl? It might seem fun and cool now but the rest of the proffesions are being ripped off. It would take me at least a month to master my profession and you CH's are taking days! This is wrong and very unfair.

And if you don't like it than Nerf you!

Ocks, leave it one message please. And as I said in other post, there are masters of almost every profession now (may even be one in all of them). How fast or how slow just means that either you are an inept player or you are not grinding and taking your time enjoying the game.

If its the first one, well owell guess you will always be envious of others.

If its the second one..... well reading the venom in the post, I still have to go with the first.

Its not good to feed trolls, but they do make good pet food after they are nice and plump.

umm do you people who suggest taming to be restricted by challenge levels what the levels on the current mobs are? Example.. a cupa.. the mob lots of people like for pets.. is 16 i believe. kreetles are 8 or 9. so this means we'd be only having pets that have 200hp full grown? i think not.. thats ridiculous..

If.. IF they change ANYTHING it should be the transfer command.. BUT thats only so you can use something that you personally can train.. thats not even that big of a deal tho.. A marksman can still use a laser rifle, they're just not going to do full damage with it.. And as pets as weapons, something like that should be in place for us. We shouldnt be able to use a rancor at novice just as well as a master..

BUT as for the ability to tame certain mobs as novice being an exploit, i think not.. If we all could only tame certain animals it'd be really crappy lvling.. We'd be forced to change pets too often to get the next pet we need to lvl up more.. A novice rifleman/carbineer/pistoleer can get the gun they'll use up to master as soon as they hit novice.. why is it unacceptable for a CH to get the pet they'll use to master at novice as well? (and be able to do well with that pet, a cupa fighting a rancor is silly)
