Thread: The CH nerf...what should replace the current system.
Maybe you didn't read what this thread stated...the CH farming. That is not showing skill, that is exploiting a broken system. your petdishes outone hit and you get max points? explain to me how that is grinding anything out? explain to me how that is earning your xp? I wish i could get max xp for hittting something one time. but than i wouldnt be any better than you now would i?
And I am enjoying the game very much but I see problems and CHis one of them.
How fair is it that you get a total of like 30k HP(amongst your pets)as a single player where i can only have 1300? explain how fair it is that you as a sinlge player can solo a rancor with your 3 rancor pets and i wouldn't stand a chance? explain to me why you as a single player can do thousands of points in damage in one round and i can do maybe 500 with a good hit? explain to me why you don't think we are unbalanced? oh yeah...care to duel? would i stand a chance against 3 rancors and you hiding behind them? yeah this system sure works...pfft...

Now look, I didnt come here to ruffle any feathers, in fact I didnt come here even to SAY there should be a nerf...I am merely saying that if it IS to be nerfed, is this system better then other proposed systems?
There are some not so obvious benifits to...namly that novice creature handlers can have multiple creatures even at that low level...which I think is a good thing...no?
PS I also understand that you are pissed that I have never played a CH, but I have read a HUGE amount of posts on the subject, so I think I have a fairly good grasp of what is involved...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its obvious you came here to ruffle feathers. You have absolutly no reason to even post here unless you are either
A) a ch
B) going to become a ch
its obvious from your posts that you are not either A or B. The title of your thread is enough to say your here to ruffle feathers.
And if you have forgoten:
The CH nerf...what should replace the current system.
that is your title, and then you come back and say if it is to be nerfed? please, go away. People are very jelous of us as it is and they dont even understand the system. Do you see us running over to the marksmen boards complaining that they can do 1800 dmg with a single shot? nope. do you hear them complaining about our pets hitting for 400? yep. why is that? is it because our pets can have 10k ham? yep. again, why does it matter if you can kill the ch in one shot?
Sorry, im tired of hearing people bitch and moan about something they know NOTHING about. I dont care if you read every single post in this forum, its not going to help you one dang bit until you actually play the class.
We are not "pissed" that you havent played a ch, we arent "pissed" at all. we simply want you people to shut up until you walk in our shoes.
There have been many so called "suggestions" on how to fix the ch class and almost every single one of them have been to make the class better, yet almost every single one of them hurts the ch so bad that they might as well not even play ch and go be a marksman like everyone else.
There are only MINOR problems with the ch. I personally think the rancor selling is the worst part of it. if they simply put it in that you have to be able to tame the creature to use it then it would be fixed.
They may have a few creatures that are set wrong and are tameable to early in the ch life, or that might be the way they want them. But as for the entire HAM vs level thing, its stupid and should never ever be implemented.
The system that is in place right now is exactly what it should be. I agree with a few minor tweaks but overall the system works.
As I said before, run along and go back to your own message board.
"The problem is the way Creature Handlers obtain xp, which I think is absurd and should be changed ASAP.A CH should not get full xp for hitting a mob once with his pet, it should be based on the amount of damage that pets do to the target. That way the amount of pets will not create a problem, and won't speed up the advancement of CHs. "
/agree
While I'm sure SoE originally thought the current design would work, it clearly doesn't, and it's caused them to go as far as reducing the spawn times of the Tusken (sp? sorry - never been there) fort. That's a shame for the people, admittedly few, who thought this fort was a just plain fun because of the crazy spawn times.
If I fight a creature with my pets, I get a variable amount of pistol experience based on the damage I do. While I can understand that it *could* be argued that just handling the creature fighting with you should garner you some static amount of experience, it really doesn't make sense at all in the grand scheme of how experience is awarded.
Medics get experience based on how much they heal.
Scouts get scouting experience based on how much they harvest.
Why should creature handlers get a fixed amount of experience when a pet only takes a single swing at a mob?
I know the idea was to award experience based on the level of the pet as opposed to the level of the combat target, and while it's a fine idea, it just doesn't work in practice. There are too many ways it can be used for very fast experience gains, probably far more than was ever intended.

Hold up just a minute there mister, or should I say kiddie?
You can only do 500? wow, you better run on over to the marksmen board and complain that their 1800+ dmg is cheating and that they need to be nerfed. wait a minute, your on our board. I can only assume you are here to ask questions about the CH career, but alas, from reading your post I can see you are a 12 year old moaning cause his Hair dresser cant solo a dragon.
Now lets look at what you said. for us to have 3 pets out we have to be a master CH. that means we are at the TOP of the food chain for our profession. if your only doing 500 dmg max, then its obvious you are no where near the top of your profession, so I would say yes, the master ch should beat the living **edit** out of you.
You are also assuming that all classes are equal, NEWS FLASH! they are NOT equal. You really cant expect a hairdresser to go out and do dmg can you? well maybe if its his secondary line and he is a brawler or marksmen.
Run along now. your bedtime is near.
I disagree on some things Nobix. DO NOT come blaming the CH's for the tuskens being slowed down. there is a reason that so many different classes were using that as an exploit to gain fast xp. ch's are just easier to identify with their pets. I can honestly say I dont even know where these tusken camps are and I for one am glad they slowed them down. Before the tuskens were mentioned about how great the exp was, I was on corellia and found a spawn just outside of tyrena. It was 3-4 aggresive npcs with no faction hits. I saw people constantly fighting them and wondered why. one day as I was running by I got agro and ended up in a huge fight. I eventually killed them all off and they were already respawning before I was finished with the last ones. So then I KNEW why people were fighting them. it was a camp spot and it was instant respawn. you can say all you like, but sony should know by now not to be instant respawning creatures into a game or people is going to camp them and gain as much exp as they can. its NOT the CH's fault. its the peoples fault for being so greedy and needing to get to the top as quickly as they can.
I wont even start to argue the 1 hit pet experience thing. I have mixed feelings about it and I refuse to even try to agree or disagree with it. I will say that I think the reason it is done that way is because if it was based on damage, pets would not be welcome in groups and people would shun the ch's and not group with them. The already have to fight with each other to see who can outdamge whom. lets just throw the ch's pet into the entire mix and make it even more of a rat race.
Tarrana,
I personlly dont care why you think I came here, or who you think I am...all I am asking for is opinions about this system...its not really a nerf, expect in the reguards that it will allow for only a single "super" creature to be controlled at the highest levels as opposed to 3 (which I think many have said 1 is more then enough to take on anyone).
So please, read my post, comment on my system...just dont attack my motives, thats not the reason I cam here...
well i may be way off base here but i think there is allready a combat lvl syetem in the game to judge how a creature will con. i think if that combat lvl could be used to check 2 things
1) what lvl creature you can tame at a given tameing skill
2) what lvl creature you can controll (as in what can be given to you)
with somthing like this in place i think it would solve most complaints about n00bs running around with rancors. i have seen some of the things that can be tames and have tamed some tough stuff and just see most creatures as way too powerfull for the taming lvl of the CH. as an example as i novice CH i shouldnt of been able to tame a 9100 HAM armor 1 desert vesp from lok. even as a wookiee its i bit over powered as a novice.
btw i got this whole lvl idea because the prima stratagy guide has creatures listed with some kind of overall combat lvl. i dont know how accurat the info in the guide is but it seems like a good starting point.
