Suggestions have come and gone for Profession Specific Pets. It is my hope that we can pool our collective minds together to make pets or mounts usable again for professions. Today we will start with the healer professions: Medic, Doc and CM.

So let your imaginations begin......

You could also give pet some sort of "portable" med-center which would have same functions as Med-Droid. I agree with the drag feature as well. Greater med-use range while mounted. Maybe a "cover" skill which would cause pet to absorb ranged attacks while healing others(not self). and of course, extra storage for stimpacks/etc. on pack animals.

for non-ch have creatures that when your grouped with them increase the healing rate/ medical ability etc. these would be non-stackable mods that affect just one pool and only effect their OWNER, not everyone in the group, e.g

  • a lesser thingamy (cl 10) gives its onwer injury treatment spead +5 when they are grouped,

  • a lesser whatchacallit (cl 10) gives its owner medical foraging +10 when they are grouped

  • a lesser critter (cl 10) gives it owner +10 inury treatment, when they are grouped.

for CH's who are also medics pets with higher CL give similar benefits just at a higher level or without the usual restrictions

  • a greater thingamy (cl 15) gives injury treatment +5, to everyone that the pet is grouped with

  • a greater whatchacallit (cl 20) gives its owner medical foraging +30, when grouped with its owner

  • a greater critter (cl 30) gives its owner medical foraging +15, injury treatment +20 and injury treatment speed +10 when grouped with its owner.

pets like this woudlnt give a stackable mod, e.g. if you grouped with two lesser thingamies youd still only get +5 injury treatment speed, however there is the Ancient thingamy (cl50) that gives injury treatment +10 to everyone in the group and if there is a 2nd CH with a 2nd ancient thingamy grouped then themod becomes +20 etc

there could also be pets that dont affect stats but have some benenfit to the medic outside their normal abilites, e.g.

  • the lesser plains thingamy , its special attack 2, drags the targtettedincappped player back to the medic (the medic can only use this once they have diagnostics 4)

  • the lowland whatchacallit produces 1 whatchacallit egg every 7th day that you log on. 4 watchacallit eggs can be used as an optional ingredient in buffs/med packs to considerably increase the packs efficency.

  • the mottled critter has feathers that secrete a small amount of phermone that acts in a similar manner to small stim A's. check your mottled critter every now and then to see if it has any loose feathers.

medics could also take advantage of stat mod pets that arent medic specific, such as the warbling critter that givesgrants itsowner +25 willpower whenever they are grouped together etc

looks like anything i might suggest is already here lol

this might not go over too big with evryone but i think limiting certain pets might be a realistic ide fir example

only having medical mounts and again saddlebags with stims would be nice if we ever get them lol

mounts have some extra speed that will help doc's/medics

although i do see how some cats or dog type creatures could also be used

im just looking at this froma point of view of graphics, kinda silly to have a durni as a medical helper lol

mounts seems the easiest solution to the cosmetics and also makes them viable again to some people

even if storage equipped saddlebags dont come out for a while and we have some sort of training or medical option a red cross type graphic could be used to identify a med mount

hmmm on that note a special protection bonus on only medical mountswith restrictions to only master medics/doctors might be good too sort of like the genieva convention saying you cant knowingly target a doctor lol

so a +10 defense mod for master medics and a +25 defense mod on master docs on a medical mount with a big red cross on it :-)

I dont know maybe Combat medics get increased rangesince they are a bit hihger up at reduced accuracy.

Definatly a ranger should get a larger tracking radius because of the extra hieght.

Great thread... keep those ideas handy. I've actually been talking with Panthu a bit about this lately, and we'll be looking to do a collaboration between this forum and the Dancer forum to generate ideas for new pet functionality (perhaps with other professions jumping on board after?). Expect a thread on that soon.

Medic pets would be kind of cool, like training a veermok to use stims, along the lines ofthe current stim dispenser droid concepts, only this one works. Allowing CH's to "displace" abilities onto pets would be very nice, /drag, /heal, /emotes, /revive, or a specific command to /GuardIncapacitated where creatures could work togetherto automatically shield a downed player and spam /rescue, /heal, /drag

Ok, need to ask a couple of hard questions here.

Aren't medic pets infringing on both the droid and the medic professions? If you're a medic using a non-ch pet, that means the pet is functioning just like a droid. If you're a CH with medic skills using a pet, it sounds like you're getting some medical benefits that a non CH medic wouldn't have (not to mention, once again using the pet as a droid).

In effect, the CH is getting some droid and medic profession benefits without having to expend skill points in those professions. There has been a lot said about non-CH not having to put skill points into CH and yet still getting CH benefits, i.e. having powerful BE pets that can attack for one example. How do we justify having medical or droid benefits without spending the skill points?

Aside from skill points, the biggest issue for me is that pets would be used just like droids. From what I read in this and taloncard's thread, it seems like pets would be supplanting the function of droids. Wouldn't it put CH in direct competion and conflict with the droid profession?

actually medpets gave bonuses in speed, resistance, or anything that isnt a +25 wound/damage heal then it would be much different from droids, docs only use droids for buffing but a pet would allow them a pvp benifit

Vertexon -- very curious to see what ideas you're throwing around with the Dancer forum. I remember just after launch that it wasn't uncommon to see many dancers (at least most of the regulars around Naboo when I was starting out) performing alongside pet birds, butterflies, and other non-CH tiny pets. (Maybe now adding some sort of entertainer bonus now for the "cuteness factor" appeal?)
