Thread: CH a basic profession ?

if ch would become a basic profession the skillpoint requirements for novice and master would increase to 15 and 6 instead of 9 and 1, so we would have to spent even more skillpoints
I think you forgot to add the 43 skill points you actually need to spend for the pre-requisite Novice Scout, Exploration and Hunting. With CH as basic profession you will spend 29 sp less.

I think CH pets need more variety on damage and resistance. I'm new to the CH prof, but as far as I know all the damage my pets can deal is Kinetic... There is no use for kinetic damage on PvP and more even if the pets have no armor piercing.
I hope they address this and more issues on the Combat Upgrade but I foresee we will never be as much powerfull as in the first weeks of the game, and that sounds fine to me. I believe CH should be a great combat profesion but just for PvE.
In terms of damage,I can't see a pet doing anything but kinetic, because animals fight with their claws, teeth, etc. However, I would like to see better resists on many of the animals, like the GSP. That animal is just too huge and too intimidating to be so weak. I would also like to see the higher end creatures have armor piercing attack capabilities.
Blast attack on some animals may be a possibility.

Problem with making it a basic proffesion, is the exploration and hunting tree is pretty useful for basically any proffesion so i bet many people would just get those trees again even if CH didn't have those trees as a requirement. you can make a bit of cash on the side with hunting, and being able to walk mountains as fast as on flat land speaks for itself.
I agree. I always recommend to anyone, regardless of profession, to get the Exploration line in Scout at the minimum. I for one, hate having to depend on my vehicle to get around.

Agreed, but then it would be their choice, not a forced path.
Question is, if you make CH a basic profession, without requiring the Exploration and Hunting lines in Scout, what happens to maskscent?

Actually, I retract my statement. There are possibilities for pets to do other types of damage realistically. Stun, maybe Acid, as well, sice many creatures spit an acidic type venom.

I am not a PvPer and never PvPed, so I will not speak about an aspect of the game I do not know, my post was oriented toward PvE only.
Combat rewamp is still quite far and honestly speaking I would not put too much hopes in it: SWG is now older then 1 year, probably a couple of years were needed for developing and coding and we have a great game but with a botched economy, unbalanced professions, severe bugs even in the most evident skills (warcry, ranged and melee speed and precison, mob warping etc....).... and now we really hope that in just 6 months they can develop, code and test a whole new better and WORKING system ? I think not.
Anyway I did not wanted to make this a rant thread, sorry
