As I said in my original post CH could have a skill similar to maskscent but much more limited his scope or usage, to avoid stealing from Scouts, for example: you activate the skill and then you have20 seconds to start the tame, if you do not start the tame in 20 seconds then you cannotuse the skill for5 minutes.... as soon as the tame is finished youhave another 20 seconds to leave the area. I think scouts will not regret this.

Question is, if you make CH a basic profession, without requiring the Exploration and Hunting lines in Scout, what happens to maskscent?

Problem with making it a basic proffesion, is the exploration and hunting tree is pretty useful for basically any proffesion so i bet many people would just get those trees again even if CH didn't have those trees as a requirement. you can make a bit of cash on the side with hunting, and being able to walk mountains as fast as on flat land speaks for itself.
Agreed, but then it would be their choice, not a forced path.

Hi all,
I am nearly at master CH (4-4-1-4 now, and I will get master by weekend), but the more I play the more I feel thelack of any use for this profession.
Don't get me wrong, I love my pets and being a CH, it is the most intriguing and funny profession in the game, the problem is that when you hit master in a combat profession there is really no use for your pets.
I am a master Rifleman and anything may pets can do I can do better and quicker, actually I spend more time healing them than having them fight and during the "calling pet in 15 seconds.....ect...."Ihaveblow into piecesthat Enraged BullRancor that aggroed me while I was waiting for my pet.
Another problem is that beingCH costs a lot of skill points for being such limited in its use.
On the other side CH can be a great help for those players still grinding toward their combat mastery, send the pet in to keep the mob far from you while you blast them away or have it fight side bye side with you and divert some attack from you.
So, to make it short: I thinkCH should be a basic profession, not an Elite one, obviously CHwill then need tohave a sort of maskscent skill of their own but of more limited use (to avoid conflicting with scouts), maybe morking only on the specific creature they are trying to tame and only for the duration of the taming.

Personally I dont like this idea at all. I like CH as a master profession and if we are again equal to another master after the CU then all of this is a moot point anyway.

You hit the nail on the head. I'm with you there.

True, DarthMarksman. Actually Acif was the one I first thought off. Stun, Electricity (as some fishes here on the Earth) and maybe Restraint(?) are other possibilties...

Actually, I retract my statement. There are possibilities for pets to do other types of damage realistically. Stun, maybe Acid, as well, sice many creatures spit an acidic type venom.

I think CH pets need more variety on damage and resistance. I'm new to the CH prof, but as far as I know all the damage my pets can deal is Kinetic... There is no use for kinetic damage on PvP and more even if the pets have no armor piercing.
I hope they address this and more issues on the Combat Upgrade but I foresee we will never be as much powerfull as in the first weeks of the game, and that sounds fine to me. I believe CH should be a great combat profesion but just for PvE.
In terms of damage,I can't see a pet doing anything but kinetic, because animals fight with their claws, teeth, etc. However, I would like to see better resists on many of the animals, like the GSP. That animal is just too huge and too intimidating to be so weak. I would also like to see the higher end creatures have armor piercing attack capabilities.
Blast attack on some animals may be a possibility.
Didn't think about electricity. The eel. That could work.

if ch would become a basic profession the skillpoint requirements for novice and master would increase to 15 and 6 instead of 9 and 1, so we would have to spent even more skillpoints

I think you forgot to add the 43 skill points you actually need to spend for the pre-requisite Novice Scout, Exploration and Hunting. With CH as basic profession you will spend 29 sp less.

as it stands right now ch is useless without mask scent, so points would still be needed for scout not to mention being able to see the animal lvl before taming with scout skills.
sounds like the whole structure will have to change.
in my opinion having it elite is fine and if the combat upgrade does what i believe it will. then elite is where we shall and shouldbe.
"soon my pets very soon" "we shall be needed by all and feared throughout the galaxy" lol j/k

I must agree with you too. Anyway, I think the real poster was asking for an alternative solution in case CH is left behindduring the CU. Personally, I believe they will try to even each and every master prof. Or at least, give every profesion a role or identity.

but you will lose all the benefits you get for that scout stuff, so youll basically have to spent more skillpoints to get the same skills than before.
