ok i'm going CH with my main.

all i wnt to know if it would be better to have a ranged prof or a melee prof with the CH master template.

i'n not interested in pvp but pure PVE and rarest creatures taming.....

i was thinking that a melee prof would have give me some bonuses in a dirty situation with high level critters spawning on me.buti like ranged also.

WHat to take?

thx for your advice

Ah. . .one of the eternal debates.

Depends on your preference, really.I know CH/TKMs, Fencers, Pikemen, etc., who say they like being up close with their pets during combat. Another benefit is it is easier to heal your creature when it takes damage. The liability, naturally, is that you are in the combat zone and so you can/will take injuries, poisons, disease, more so than a ranged professional.

Ranged with CH seems to be a favorite among many. Let your pets take the aggro while you are safe at a distance, assisting your pets by killing the mob. The benefit is of course you are out of harm's way, at least, until your pet gets incapactitated. You also are outof the line of fire of the specialattacks of certain beasts. Less chance of poison, acid burn, diseaseetc. I'm a Master Rifleman/Creature Handler and I think the two are almost perfectly matched. That's me. In the end, it's what will bring you the most enjoyment.

Pistoleer is good, as you said, the defenses are great. I would choose Rifleman simply because your speed is outstanding and you do more damage per attack. Also, attacking the mind is always a good way to take a mob down.

i am master rifleman and once you are master ch your pets should never incap as they will have decent ham..heal them before you send them in...sure a krayft will incap them but if you were up close you would likely be slain as well..for normal fighting you pets will be safe, by normal i mean any mission you can pull even now with the solo groups still in effect

oh dude, just go 4340 medic, and buy some 1000+ petstims as well, make a macro to /healpet and /heal target in one button, bam you heal for almost 3k per shot. Works just fine for me.

Most popluar combat professions seem to be Rifleman or TKM. Istarted off asRifleman but changed it toTKM for good defence, good dps and meditate. On healing pets I use a pet rotation system, never have to use a stim that way 8)

Really, if you find a good source of pet-stims, you dont even need medic skills. (Maybe novice so you can heal yourself).

4/x/x/x TKA does the self healing.

My "original" pre hologrind template was master scout, master CH, master medic, and 0/4/0/0 marksman. This worked very well, but keep in mind this was a pre great nerf template. Pistols works particularly well because it primarily damages health, which is what your pets are doing, so you're building on success in that department. Having access to stim Cs and Ds and using them on myself and my pets was pretty handy.

Now I'm totaly strange, master marksman, 0/0/1/3 BH, 0/0/0/1 TKA, 4/1/4/4 CH, 4/0/4/2 scout, 4/0/0/0 brawler. I use pet stims to keep the kids healthy, have no ablity to heal myself at all, except meditate to make bleeds go away. If I'm looking for trouble in PvE, I go in buffed not armored and that seems to be more than sufficient to take care of 75% of PvE combat. I use the LLC against higher end foes for quick damage, but will move down to pistol or carbine for low to mid level stuff. I'm looking to go either rifles or TKM, but frankly I'm holding out on that until more is revealed about the Combat Upgrade.
