Thread: CH wannabe
But while on Dath as a TKM I can...
1. Heal Disease Plague by Bull rancors without having to go back to civilization.
2. The diversity of NS I can kill if I run into them is greater than that of a Rifleman.
I would think about those 2 things when choosing a supporting class to CH.
choice, choices....

Well to follow on... My template is currently looking to shape up to be MBE, MCH, xx14 medic and 21xx rifles (conceal shot can be so handy. However I was thinking about dropping it for xx4x Pikes (knockdown and area knockdown) to aid my pets or 31xx TKA and drop the stim B use from medic... Oooooor, ramp up Medic and hope to rely on that for normal stim and pet stim use...

If you are not going to master Rifles, it's NOT Worth it.Rifleman is definitely not a dabbling profession. With only Rifleman 2-1-0-0, you will have no speed, and only some accuracy. Those skillpoints will be better spent elsewhere. The same thing with Pikeman. With Pikeman 0-0-4-0, all you will have is defense, little offense to help your pets. You will also have no speed or accuracy with your polearm weapon. TKA 3-1-0-0 gives you somemeditation healingand some unarmedstrikes, but again, you will be very limited in terms of combat.
Truth be told, your template is not going to offer you much in the way of offensive capabilities. This will be a problem when you want level through Creature Handler, because the best way to gain XP is through combat with your pets against mobs that are more powerful than they are. This risk is, of course, if your pet(s) get incapped, then those voracious mobs will turn toward their master. Bio-Engineerwill bring you the same dilemma. Ultimately, you want to make powerful creatures from DNA experimentation, but to get said DNA, you have to get in close contact with said creature. If said creatures aggroes. . .you have nomeans to defend yourself.
Just some issues I think you should consider.
i prefer the rifleman/ch combo myself, since it's not a problem to let creatures aggro your pet instead of you, just send them in first on some distance or if you get attacked simply peace and walk around your pet which should be attacking your foe, that always worked for me until now, i wouldn't even have to wear any armor if i was hunting with pets all the time.
with a melee prof i dont really see the use of a pet anymore, sure, youre gonna be a better tank than your pet, but doesn't that render your pet completely useless? it won't deal damage, that's for sure...
With Master CH and BE, it leaves me with 52 points free, not a whole lot sadly...
I could maybe get xxx4 in rifles and go for the speed option using Mindshot1 and Headshot 2, but in conjunction with pets who can't target certain bits it seems useless.
Still looking at xx4x in Pikes, it gives me the defensive bonus to allow me to get in close with pets and still hit (a bit), also gives me knockdown and area knockdown, would they be any use with two/three pets dealing around 1000 damage in total ?
Either way, I look pretty stuck for points :/
As a Master Rifleman, with cover, I have been rarely aggroed by anything my pet is tanking. I send my pet in at about 64 meters away from the mob, and it holds it. On the sometimes occasion that the mob does break off and aggroe me, it is nearly dead or falls dead before it gets within striking distance.

Well hate to burst anyones bubble, but he should go melee with the ch. I am pained to say that being bh, but here are the drawbacks to ranged.
Sometimes the creature will break off your pet and go for you. With no evasions nearly every hit will pop right on.
If your pet incaps its almost a certified doom for you against some things.
Whereas I have seen a melee stacker eat a krayt dragon for lunch. Yes the combat is that out of whack. That pikemen are beating krayt dragons to death. A creature pet is a tenth the tank that a melee fighter is.

It's the eternal problem isnt it, not enough skill points to go round

But then you will not have any accuracy as you are missing the SNIPING line in Rifleman, so many of your shots will miss. Again, Rifleman is not worth it to dabble. With Pikeman, your accuracy and your speed will be missing. What you could do with the remaining skillpoints, is go Novice Marksman, then go up the pistol line and the Ranged Support line for some speed and accuracy, Marksman 0-4-0-4. That will help you some, but you will not deal out much damage. That coupled with high level pets doing good damage could possibly be effective.
However, it goes back to your CH levelling dilemma. To control more than 1 creature you have to be CH 0-0-0-4. To level to there in a decent amount of time, you have to have your pets fight strong mobs. When you get out in the wilderness, you're pretty much defenseless. The only way you get CH XP is if your pets kill the mob they are attacking. You could get a BE pet with good HAM and resistance, but if you use it against mobs to weak, you get little XP and your levelling slows to a crawl. Use it against mid-level mobs(huurtons, quenkers, etc) and if you don't kill the mobs fast enough to assist your pet, then the pets goes down and they come after you. You get no CH XP and maybe get killed.
