I hate to say it but I may dump CH soon. I went to some of the higher level dungeons this weekend and ended up having to store my pets becausewe werehaving to save them. They can't tank anything decent at all. For the skill pts I have in CH I can become an uber PVP and PVE player and not have to be bothered by a pet runnin' off. This BS that we are "support" is getting so old. We can't support anything.
I love my pets but they are useless. The only reasons I'm keeping itatm is it took so long to master and they let me get higher mission levels but an ATST works better for that anyway.
I've tried to stay positive and look to the future but I'm loosing faith real fast. I hate to be one of these players that does the FOTM profs but there are reasons people do them. They work!
Can anyone give me a good reason to stick it out?
Is it worth holding out for combat rebalance?

Iwish I knew how to answer you, hon.
And I have to do this, in true Scyllan tradition (so don't take it wrong):
. . .. can I have your pets?

I keep it because I am attatched to my pets and because I am way too stubborn. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you...

I think it's deff worth the wait. I think that all these people that switch thier templates based on where the inblance is or what seems to be the over powered prof of the month will be in a sad state after revamp.
All the people that went riflemen just to own people are going be sad to see the mind hits and mind dots go away. All those CM that went there to own people are going to be at a loss. My play style has awlays been, play the proffesions that you like and have fun with.
If you don't like CH cause it's not fun for you than go, if you like the idea of being a CH and you like having pets around then by all means, stay. Bottom line, if you looking for a way to own people then I don't think you'll find it here, ever. I do think the CB will bring us back into line with everyone else, that is to say I think we won't be the strongest prof out there but will be strong.
Also, keep in mind, it's no very likley that CH will ever be viwed by the Devs as a main combat class. That is to say it will always be viewed as a secondary attack to go along with your brawler or marksmen skills. So the amount of damage you can do with a pet will never be what you proably want. I think I recall a dev saying something like " I wanna make your proffesion better without incressing your ablity to destroy things" or something to that effect.
Truly if CH where to be as powerfull as one might imagine it could be, it proably should be a hybrid combat class taking enoufh skill points so that you couldn't be a master Rifleman and have an uber pet. So with that being said don't get your hopes up for the "good old days" cause I'm thinking that's not going to happen.
I more see things being added to our prof like cool new pets rare and common. Hopefully they'll incress the rate at wich your pet actually does the special attack when you tell it too. A few wild pets that are at least somewhat as good as a BE pet. For me the thrill of Ch is really to find and use pets that not everyone else has, or finding that pet that really goes well with your play style.
So I hope you stay around to see what happens I know I will

You have many good points there Rayne. ![]()
I just don't see them nerfing every combat prof down to our level. There are locations in this game that are almost too tough now. If they brought everyone down to our level those places would be empty. No one could beat them and I think you would see a massive exodus from this game. I just have a feeling CB is going to end up being more of a tweak than a rework. I could be wrong tho.
I dumped master pistol just after I got MCH. The reason I did it was because everyone on the CH forums was saying Rifle was the best combo for CH. It so is too hehe.
I'm not sure if Rifle is actually overpowered orthat its one of the few profs that work.

LOL, I'll probably be keeping my BE and rare pets just incase I came back one day. I may stick it out but I'm gettin' a bit frustrated that all those skill pts are kinda goin' to waste. You made mesmile with that tho Shabhaii, thx

If this profession is not enjoyable anymore ditch it. Find what makes you happiest homes and roll with it.

I'm keeping my MCH until I see with absolute certainty that there will be no more (or at least very, very few) changes left to the combat system or to creature handling specifically.
Eventually SWG will level out in terms of balance (yes, eventually).
However, now would probably be the worst time to drop an entire skill tree just because it's not as powerful as you'd like.
We KNOW that there is going to be a revamp coming. If it takes a month or two, we still know it will eventually be here and that it will probably be a dramatic change.
I could understand dropping it if there was no hope in sight, or even after the big revamp it still wasn't handling as preferred.
I have two accounts, a master bio-engineer/master droid engineer and a master creature handler with accessories template.
Both my accounts are based around pets. I don't plan on moving one inch from that fact until things have settle down entirely.
If one day I wake up and discover that pets have no place in the galaxy then I'll switch both my characters.
Until then, however, may the force be with my pets.

Like some people said, the bottom line is you should keep MCH if it's fun for you. If you really want to be a uber fighter than I'd suggest dropping it of course.
Oh and by the way, CH areon of, if notthe strongest profession in the game... unbuffed. Whenever I fight with somebody and we are both unbufffed, I can't use a pet because everyone knows I'd kick their butts.

Keep it cause you love your pets and having them out from time to time. Keep it cause you are willing to fight for a noble but lost cause. Keep it because you have fun playing it. Keep it to help our numbers when complaining about actual bugs. (Things like auto store and fail to follow) Keep it cause if the CB really screws other professions it would be a real pain to gain it again. These are some of the reasons I remain stubbornly a MCH in a game where we don't seem to be more than glorified Zookeepers but remember what was said above. Against an un-buffed opponent we can be a very real threat. Combine MCH with another combat prof (I'm thinking TKA or RIfleman) and we are very dangerous. Alas for me I am a humble merchant so have not the skill (points
) to be a serious combat threat. I use my pets as guards when I travel mosty.
and i try to stay out of the way of the empire and the war.
