Thread: I just realised WHY the ch combat profession is not as powerful as other combat professions.

Because it is the only combat profession you can use at the same time as another. For instance you cannot use TK at the same time as pistoleer, but you can use CH and rifleman at the same time.

If CH were to be made equal it would have to to be made so that you cant use another combat profession at the same time, for instance you need a whip or somthing to control your pets etc.

Another idea i had was to have "packs". This would entail having a pack of animals, smaller ones. An animal would have a "pack" option. This means the CH could prehaps catch and control 10 creatures which are equal in power to a rancor or whatever other creature. Obviously it would be easy for a strong npc or player to take out lots of weak animals, but if there were special encumberances to fighting a pack such as panic, confusian etc... maybe it could work.

You're wrong already, CH is not a combat profession. It's a support profession. It's not supposed to be equal with the combat profs.. because it's not one.

kind of.

CHs are also meant to sell things to an extent (not that it happens anymore), but all these issues are only excuses to keep them nerfed. CH takes more skill points to master than most other combat [edit] oriented[/edit]professions, but is sadly underpowered in comparison to them.

[edit]

it is a 'support' profession, but a CH is going to spend most of his or her time fighting with their pets - e.g. combat. the extra versatility merits *some* ennerfedness, but...[/edit]

Nothing keeps a combat medic from poisoning you and then pulling out a rifle ... nothing keeps a Pistoleer from throwing in some Smuggler special attacks ...

The crippling of CH was an over-nerf that simply has never been corrected, a mistake that SOE lacks the resources to rectify in anything close to a reasonable period of time.

Wrong. Just dead wrong.

(1) DEFENSE STATS: Defense stats (like melee as one example) from TK and pistoleer are "stacking". That means you're using advantages from both combat professions at the same time.

(2) COMBAT STYLE FLEXIBILITY: Though you cannot use the offensive capabilities of TK and pistoleer AT THE EXACT SAME TIME,you CAN use their offensive capabilities WITHIN THE SAME MELEE ROUND. Example is to kite with pistoleer skills and then go in for hand to hand combat if the NPC catches up to you as necessary. (ie offensive flexibility to adapt to your combat situation second by second).

(3) APPLYING STATES: You can apply posture down state from rifleman and then use the KD state from carbineer to keep an NPC on the ground for a while. You can stack bleeds from pistoleer and fencer. You can apply stun from one combat profession and blind from another.

You're wrong. CH IS a support class. Much the same way Combat Medic is a support class. Both of our classes are capable of dealing damage on their own. But i think its obvious that neither us, nor them do exceptionally well without a real combat class as part of their template.

actually i should ammend that... CM and CH are "combat support classes." Whereas entertainers and medics are purely support classes. But the thing is, both CM and CH spend more skill points to master than most combat classes. While CM is balanced, CH is clearly not. CMs have their place in the GCW and other areas of the game. CHs are needed and wanted nowhere. We have no calling, and no purpose, atleast as far as the devs are concerned. After publish 5 we've hadno pet market, we've lost most of our combat effectiveness, and we're just as useless in theGCW now as we were then. Personally.. to hell with GCW. What does bother me is the fact that i have no pet market, and that i don't have a needed position in PvE hunting. What kind of support class has nothing to support? I mean... BE suposedly supports CH, but i find that hard for a support class to support a support class which is not needed. I don't even want to get into the BE issue, i made myself perfectly clear about my individual disgustand that of my fellow MCHs.

And you have no friggin clue what you are talking about.

An equal profession would beDroid handler. Would you say Droid handlers are a support profession? No, you wouldnt.

Can my pet do ANYTHING other than attack? Nope, and it barely can do that... So in what way does it support ANYTHING?

If a combat medic rolls up on you in PvP people watch out. Combat medics can drop you QUICKLY.

If a CH rolls up to you with the absolute best pet you can possibly have in the game. What do people do? Laugh...

Everyone is wrong!!!

The devs haven't made up their #)&$%#@&$@ minds whether Ch is support or combat.

hence the problem with many of us trying to figure out what to suggest in the way of "fixes"

Yea no sh!t sherlock. Thats the point i'm making. CM is a working combat support class, CH isn't. CM is a support class becuase it heals in combat and also has its own attacks. It specifically supports other users in combat, CH somewhat does, but not nearly to the ability we should if we are indeed suppost to be a combat support class, which btw is the closest thing we qualify under.

no the difference is that a combat medic is not tossing a disease and shooting at the same time. the pistoleer is not launching a stopping shot and a fanshot with the same trigger pull.
