Thread: CH leaving threads
i notice tons of CHs too, with the prof label under their name, calling/training/selling pets, or i just know them as a friend and theyhave some CH on the side
but i also know that most of these people, like me, are new to the game, possibly still in their first free month
since most of these people dont read the forums or website they have no idea that CH isnt what it used to be, so they still love it and think its a great proffession.
I never thought CH was dying. I would say however, many of the vets are leaving, or have already left. The CH's you see running around in game are relativenoobies. Many of them don't know the bitter taste of the Great Nerf. They haven't been privy to the barrage of broken promises and half truths that the "older" community has witnessed time and time again.
There may be a new player for every old player that leaves. That creates zero population growth however. It leaves very little new revenue for game advancement. Simple corporate marketing dynamics is to keep your existing customer base while striving to gain new customers, not replacing old customers with new customers over and over again.
The more new players we can interest in this wonderfully satisfying profession, the less likely they will be to scrap it completely. Of course - that will be the day a lot of committed CH WILL leave, and probably quite a few of the more recent players who can't use their pets.
I don't know a single vet CH who has kept it from the CU until now. Every one of them was MCH before the CU, and every one dropped it.
Heck, someone was even asking over guild chat... "Do we have ANY CHs left?" The answer was, we have one.... a guy who doesn't log in all that much. But as for the active vet CHs, we all gave up and switched profs.

We did lose another CH in our guild with the CU - she was broken-hearted about her pets. We still have 3 master CH who have been such for nearly 2 years.
Encourage the new players - that's my policy.

I've been CH since Sept/Oct of '03, well before The Nerf. Though, admittedly, I don't play near as often as I used to. Spend more time with EQII now. But I keep waiting and hoping that something good will happen with CH despite the evidence to the contrary. People, including the devs, don't see what CU has done to CH. Partly because many are new and have nothing to compare present CH to and partly, imho, because they don't understand all the ramifications of the new Combat Level system.
Well, I've had CH for almost 2 years and see no reason to drop it now, it's becoming good again. Seriously. Of course it's not like back when the pets tanked the krayts and all, but something I like post CU versus pre CU is the increased damage especially on BE pets. Before you took on things with 60 or higher kinetic and if you just had the pet fighting, it took forever. Now the resists are a bit lower, the health is lower, the pet makes overall quicker work than before. My pets are also loved by groups not just for pulling but that 2nd tank position.Mostpeople in the group will wait til my pet is out and ready. Why have root when you can just hold off an add with a pet? Of course I'd go for root chains if you are talkin about a 2nd add being a kimo or something, but for normal 80s creatures the pet I view as a better option. It's not like the main tank is gonna just try to take on all the aggros anymore, your pet can make a difference.
Every profession experiences a bit of churn. Look at doctors. It became something some did not like and many left. Many lost out on crates and resources. Others are finding it enjoyable though and many new ones have joined. I view doctor as CH in a way cause I view both as being more enjoyable and valuableto groupsin a way. I was effected by having to delete pets and I was effected by having to delete doc crates, but it doesn't mean I'm giving up either profession. There's some good yet in both.

I am a Vet CH from first weeks of live - havent dropped it, not going to drop it - will leave game before I change it.
OK, my statement was not accurate, let me correct it:
I do not know in game anyone who is still a CH that was an MCH before the CU. All the ones I know in game have given up.
On the forum, yeah, I know people, but I've never seen any of you in game.
