What is a bolotaur? Are they rare? What would a nonCH mount be worth? Thanks.

A bolotaur is a large lizard mount found on Kashyyyk, but it's only available through a quest which ends up at the Geo cave. Since it's a non-CH mount I would assume it depends on what someone wants to pay for one. They're not powerful, but make nifty mounts and are real lookers. No, they're not rare. Price for a non-CH mount can vary greatly, but usually in the 10-20k range.

How do the Bolotaur compare with the non-ch Varactyl? Slower, faster etc?

Besides IS the Varactyl realy the fastest pet there is and if so by how much and what other non-ch pet is second fastest? (I dropped CH )

Do you have to own ROTW to be able to use one of these? I'm unlikely to buy ROTW for a while, but I've been looking into buying one of the new ROTW mount deeds.

Out of curiosity, is the quest that gives the deed something you can do more than once?

Also, what category do the new mount deeds fall under? I don't see a choice for them on the vendors/bazaars?

The Game Guides fourm would probably be better able to help you with information on how to get these new mounts.

Well, since I have no interest in buying ROTW, the guide for me is basically:
1) Go to bazaar
2) Buy new mount

The only reason I am interested in these new mounts is because Ko-airi suggested I might be able to use one of these special deeds to "forcibly" tame a creature that I can earn CH XP with. Otherwise I am locked in at Novice CH and can't advance through the profession without invoking the Nuclear Option: destroying most of my old pets to free up enough datapad space to tame something I can actually call. (I'm a former master that dropped CH and stupidly forgot to keep a low-level pet that can be called at Novice level, and I can't tame from a regular BE deed unless I am below the storage cap for the Novice level.)

that's a real long shot... I'm pretty sure the bolotaur, kashyyyk bantha, varactyl, etc all check against the storage cap when you 'generate' a pet from the deed.

short of the Nuclear Option:

master ID/architect/etc and use the token respec to return to mCH.

figure out how many of your pets are irreplaceable... find folks you trust that can hold onto the pets for you... master CH and retrieve the pets.

as far as i remember u get those pets as rewards fullgrown and already mountable in your datapad - so no tradeable deeds. beside the master varactyl which u get in form of an egg.

the prob with those pets (quest rewards and pre-order varactyl) is that they dont count against the max pet number when u get them. otherwise u had the same prob with quest rewards and full inventories.

but from then on the pets count against the cap. so if a non-ch with 3 pets gives away his kashyyk bantha, bolotaur or varactyl he cannot get it back, until he deletes other pets from his datapad. i always ask people now how many pets they have before i take pets for training.

The Bolotaur should be tradable as an item when you first get it in the quest. When I got it out of the Geo Lab container it went into my inventory. Then I had to generate it like a speeder deed, at which time it went to my datapad.

the problem being... you need RotW to get the quest to get the bolotaur from the geo lab.

that, and the kwi seem to like to stack up in ridiculous numbers. my last trip in there sent me to the cloner, with sixteen hits from the kwi in one second... most of them 'hit a corpse of lammergeier'.

They don't check against anything it looks like unfortunately Gave my varactyl egg to a friend for a house decoration and she accidentally hatched it into her pad. She's never been a CH and had 2 pets at the time, now she has a third that she'll never use, hehe.
