I charge 3k to mount any pet for anyone. I sell mounted non-ch pets for 8k.

The other day at anchorhead some guy started shouting "can a ch someone mount my pet and train him". I said "yes im a master CH and I charge 3k to mount". The guy started saying "but you get XPs for mounting so why you charging" and also said its not right to charge for mounts etc etc. I mounted and he paid me 2k because no one else would mount his pet for free. Another guy as well on corellia want to buy a mounted pet but not willing to pay the 8k and saying im ripping people off at 8k etc etc.

My reasons for selling mounted petsand charging for mounts.

It takes days to grow a baby pet to the stage were you can mount it, so in the mean time you earning no money.

Other pets are harder to sell now because people dont see pets as fighters (I have to destroy many pets because I just cant shift them). It takes time to train and mount a pet for someone so I charge for my time. Charging for mounts isone of the CH steady income. Another point I see people selling Rancors for 20k or less (so how are we CH supose to many any money. Really we CHs should charge more for selling mounts.

I know how medics and dancers must feel.

I ask nothing if I make someones else pet a mount. But some of the people tip me, sometime 1000 or even 3000.

A cl 10 spat I sell for 4000. But selling pets is not a way of living for me. Not many players are intrested in buying one.

But about your question yes I think it isright to ask mony. After all you worked hard to be able to do so. Only I do not like to go into a price argue.

Of course it is ok to ask for money to train a mount. You worked hard to get the ability and you probably spent some credits to do so. If the person doesn't want to pay for mount training he/she can become a MCH and train their own. As in RL you went to the trouble to learn how to make a living and one of the ways is to train a mount. (there are many even if you are not a CH.) It also takes some ammount of your time to do the training. It is not the time it is the knoledge/ability you are asking payment for.

I approached a Master CH and asked him if he would mount three mountain dewbacks for me which he did and I tipped him 10K which seemed fair enough, since I tamed them myself and could double my money selling them. I am not going to though since I will give them to other PA members for free.

Charging 3k sounds entirely resonable.

Considering the time it takes to get up the 4th tree in CH, 3k is a bargain.

This whole thing about "Well you get xp, why should I pay you", is totally bole crap. The only player that I dont feel should be tippedfortheir time isthe AFK dancers in Coronet city. The only time I would say "Well you get xp" is when training for apprentice xp. People are usually spaming "Will teach for free", I dont worry about tipping them. However if I search someone out specificly, yes I will tip them for their time.

No one complains about armorsmiths selling composite armor for 200k or weaponsmiths selling guns for 20k a time.

But when a Creature handler, medic or dancer asks for some money, there is a outcry of being ripped off.

At the mo I think Creature handles ain't so important The elitle professions take us ch, medic, dancer for granted. I hope theswg team sort the problems out soon

This is something that if your a MCH imo its not worth charging for.

I often train peoples pets for them or mount them, I never ask for creds in return, but I have yet to not be tipped something for it. If people ask 'how much' I always tell them to donate as they think is fair.

After all, its not like it costs us anything other than a couple of minutes of our time (a far cry from what it costs a MA to make 80% composite)

but then thats just my stance on it.

I don't get asked to train mounts all that much and have never charged. No one ever asks to buy a mount from me so I don't even bother taking the time to tame/train/sell - I just use my pets to help out on missions and stuff and that works fine for me and makes me a lot more credits...

I do, however, get many people trying to get free pets from me - if I mention wanting money for them they lose interest - basically I guess because they can get better ones from BE's anyway.

You, as a CH, had to work long and hard to have the skill to do that. We players sell our skill to those who need it. We buy skill from people also. That is the purpose of money. I will often do things for a true charity case, but nothing for a whinner... ever. The more they whine, the higher the cost.

Yes Drachen, we can trade them from our datapad. I never really understood teh Transfer command being for CH only anyway. I guess it bypasses the secure trade window.

I see no problem with charging people for your services. Everyone else does it. Tell them to go without or to go get a vehicle that won't fight for them and may get permanently disabled. (I couldn't /taunt a rotting decay mite guard off my speederbike. Luckily I killed it before it killed my bike.) I have no idea where to go for prices though. The pet market altogether seems pretty nonexistant.

If you are talking about the transfer command, you do not need it for non-ch pets. You can trade them via the trade window. You will also see ch pets, usually BE ones that were transfer trained by MCH when they were called from the deed or trained and the wild pet was tamed. The first MCH could not mount train them at that time because they were not big enough. These can be trade, via the window, or transferred.

So how exactly does it work. Do I need to drag the pet from datapad into the trade window or over the player?

I ask cause I only have a pre-patch Kaadu with 800HAM as mount and would love to have my Dewback as mount, but I'm still 3 boxes away from mount command (went for more stored pets first)..
