Thread: Is it right to charge players to mount their pets

Ok, I think I'm missing something..
..you guys train other peoples pets as mount and whatever else without having them transfered to you?
If you are talking about the transfer command, you do not need it for non-ch pets. You can trade them via the trade window. You will also see ch pets, usually BE ones that were transfer trained by MCH when they were called from the deed or trained and the wild pet was tamed. The first MCH could not mount train them at that time because they were not big enough. These can be trade, via the window, or transferred.
So that means I need to get a BE pet and trade the deed? I hope I got it right now.. *looks confused*
When a BE (or a DE for that matter) makes a pet it appears in his/her inventory and is a deed the same way a droid is a deed and kind of like a house, factory or harvester is a deed (only kind of, not identically). On the radial menu when you select it on the deed in your inventory one of the options is "Tame". Once you tame a pet deed it will move from your inventory into your datapad, the same way a droid deed does. While it's still a pet deed it can be traded like any other inventory item, with the secure trade window. It can also be stored like any other inventory item, in packs, satchels, cargo pockets (the ones looted from NPCs, not the ones tailors make), bank security boxes, houses. If you drop it on the floor of your house you have what's called "furniture" and the pet will move (the stationary animations) a little and appear as if it was full grown.
Once a pet deed is tamed and has moved into your datapad then it's treated the same as any other wild pet you've tamed. The only major difference is that you get no CH xp for taming a pet deed as you would for taming a wild baby since there's no possibility that you will fail or it will aggro on you. You will get CH xp for teaching it commands as you do wild pets. BEs who are grinding pets often give (or sell but usually not for much) their junk product to CHs grinding.
The transfer command is unnecessary when moving a non-CH pet from a CH or someone else. You can drag the pet from your datapad to the secure trade window without a problem. If a CH pet (CL higher than 10) doesn't know the transfer command then you can't move it to another CH at all (this may be bugged right now but it's how it was before the last big CH patch and AFAIK it's how it's supposed to be). If a CH pet does know the transfer command then you can use the secure trade window to move it to another CH or you can call it and give it the verbal transfer command to move it to the other CH. Note he has to have room in his/her datapad and usually has to be able to control (ie call) it themselves for this to work.
That's how it's supposed to be but some pieces of it may be broken right now.
Ok, I think now I got it. My confusion resulted from the statement that my pets can't be trained cause they don't know the transfer command.
The Dewback is a CL17 btw. I made it when I was a BE.
Thanks for all the feedback (and sorry for hijacking the thread that much *blush*) ![]()
all I can say is you have every right to charge for your services. Doc's do it for buffs. As mentioned other professions do it for there services (armor weapons food etc.)
Myself I just train if I am asked nicely. I do not need any xp (which is BS that they would use this as an excuse to not pay) so that is not an argument they can use on me. I prefer the tip if you feal like it part. I will always tip for services like dancing / doctor / medic help. ah well nuff from me.
Aiseman <----- Still a Noob MCH
you are well within your rights to charge for mounting, get what you can.
i dont charge anything for trianing someones pet to be a mount nor do i sell mounts in general. my main source of income is destroy missions and selling buffs as a doctor.
as far as selling pets goes, i havent been able to sell one in a looonngg time. if i dont want to release i end up giving it away free, i had one guy he wanted my mauler so he could sell it. i gave it to him and said good luck.

I charge 3k to mount any pet for anyone. I sell mounted non-ch pets for 8k.
The other day at anchorhead some guy started shouting "can a ch someone mount my pet and train him". I said "yes im a master CH and I charge 3k to mount". The guy started saying "but you get XPs for mounting so why you charging"
It astounds me how some people cannot grok the concept that a Master Fnord does not need Fnording experience. Now, some XP is handy in other classes...such as Combat XP. But CH XP is useful only for CH. This person needs a freaking clue.
And you are in your right to charge. After all, if you don't want to be bothered, you don't want to be bothered. I may train a pet for free if I'm waiting for a shuttle. But if I'm walking across town or am on a mission, then you bet I want money for my time.
Yeah, and you do get to experience the joy of being a medic or dancer. I play a Dancer as well, and I got to see that excuse a lot. Nowadays, Dancers get tipped only by nice players and those who RP because denying a patron does nothing when there are AFKers around.
But you can't AFK CH Mounting, so that's in our favor.
