From the SL forum....

[msg(TH)] Could you *please* stop by the SL forums & say something to this effect? We've got hundreds of questions, not only related to future enhancements but about the state of things right now.

[TH([email protected])] I can if it stays positive...

[TH([email protected])] My fear is that if I post, it will turn into a flamefest

Same situation here, no? And I think he'd probably get flamed pretty heavily in here. Perhaps Vertexon could convince him to post if we all signed a waiver promising not to kill him? I think we'd all like to see a red name in here.

It wouldn't work. Some wannker is gonna flame. Some child or board troll is gonna take out their frustration on a red name, no matter what they say. I would love to see him post, but to say he isn't gonna get flamed in not realistic. Then again maybe I am wrong. I guess I have just seen so many @$$holes on forums....

That really depends.

Whether he means it humorously or not, if he is going to refer to us as poke-masters then there will be an uproar. If he claims a bug is normal pet behavior or tells us a mechanic is being added or must remain to stop a a non-existant exploit, he will be flamed.

If he can manage to not do that and give real information then I am sure lots of people would be happy to see him. Really though, his track record with Creature Handlers is not that good. Maybe if he played one before posting next time he would understand where we are coming from...

He'll get out of the forum what he brings in. His choice: dig his own grave or bury the hatchet.

LOL. Unfortunately they always bury the hatchet in our skulls.

Can anyone think of a profession that works exactly as it should, without too much or too little power, and a decent earning potential?

I happen to believe TK isn't broken at all. I used to think TK was overpowered, but now that I'm a TKM I know for a fact that it's not necessarily overpowered when compared to other fighting classes in the whole scheme of things. What makes it look overpowered is how underpowered CH is (due to the nerf) and the simple fact that CH is not considered a fighting profession by SOE. CH is a support profession and that's the way SOE wants it. Yes, TK can take out any pet, but that's because all other real fighting professions are superior to a support profession by nature. Back to TK... nothing is broken and the damage, while immense by CH standards, is pretty much on par. It's the speed that you can attain that makes it highly lethal. What martial art isn't about speed and devastating damage to the opponent (excluding the offensive martial arts that use the opponent's own movements against them).

I can't believe he's scared of a few flames. I mean, is he not big enough and clever enough to ignore the flames and concentrate on the meaningful, intelligent points?

I can not believe that they even pay him. He is supposed to be a customer service type guy. Anyone that has been in that business at all knows that the first place you go and devote your time and resources is with the customers that are not happy. It is the nature of the job. How many of you have ever called customer service to say "Thanks, I like your product." His job is about handling dissatisfied customers not getting his ego stroked. If he can not take the heat, he should try another line of work.Something less stressful that does not require knowledge, intelligence, or people skills.

Isn't TH something like the guy who's supposed to be the link between the players and the devs? It's pretty disappointing if he won't interact with the players because he can't handle a little criticism. Perhaps it's not the case and he just doesn't have anything to say.

TH is actually supposed to be a Player Advocate, which is a bit different to a Customer Service role (Q-3PO is CS).

As far as I can tell, he spends the most time with what ever class(es) is(are) up for a revamp next, so he can let the Dev's know what the general feel isfor that class.

Sony noticed that TH can't be everywhere, so they brought in the Correspondent role, but because that role isfilled by a volunteer players, and notby actualpaid Sony employeetypes, the mileage varies a great dealfrom class to class due to 1. Varying degrees of interest froma given correspondent and 2. Varying degrees of attention to a givencorrespondent by the developers. Some correspondents seem to get heard more/less by the Dev's than others (through no fault of the correspondents).

To their (Sony's) credit, they at least tried to address the communication cycle by introducing the "Top 5 Issues", but something seems to have broken down.We make the suggestions/complaints, the correspondents compile them, TH says he hands them over and the last part of the loop goes missing (the bit where someone actually addresses our concerns). I don't blame TH for that, he's just the messenger and if the Dev's don't supply him with the answers he isn't high enough up the "food chain" to make the call on answering them himself (thatsthe Leads job).

Add to that the fact that the Dev's only seem to be able to revamp one class every month or two and you start you realise where the problems really lie:

1. Slow development cycles that attempt to cover too many things at once (Revamp, Content and Bug-fixes).

2. A feedback system that seems to be distorted bysubjective opinion.

3."Brushfire" targeted bursts of attention to try and put out the latest "spot fire" when it comes to "burning" issues (like the Crafting revamp or the Combat revamp recently).

4. Only one Player Advocate to cover 36 fields.

5. Afinite (and understandable) limit to the Developer man hoursper month allotted to try and cover all thebugs/balance/content issues (this goes back to Point 1).

So, in a nutshell, I think TH doesn't post here because it isn't out "turn" yet and instead of trying to spread himselftoo thin on the groundand riskbecoming totally ineffective, he chooses to concentrate on where he can do the most good (though I do think he is slightly biased against CH from some of the posts I've seen him make on the old boards, but then that relates to point 2). If there is need topoint the finger, it should be pointed atthe various Leads, not at TH. I'm not big on"shooting the messenger" when it's his "masters" fault.

Will they get "there"? Probably. But the question still remains if they will get "there" in time to stop yet even more casual players from leaving ("hardcores" will stay regardless, so I'm not calling the"death of SWG" here, there will always be enough "hardcores" to keep it going thanks to George. Thats the beauty of"big" licences)) /shrug. Time will tell I guess, either people will hang on, or they won't...

thats basically the attitudes i have been commenting on off and on for weeks and months...

people in this forum are more concerned about getting their "i win button" than having a working profession that isnt a FOTM template.

There is something ironic about a TKA or Rifleman talking about people wanting an "I win button".

I would settle for an "I function" button since I have no combat profession beyond CH.
