I have not tried to call out any pet special's commands for quite some time because they were always unreliable. For the fun of it tried it this weekend and my pets are doing the specials every single time I say them now. When did this happen?

Only pet specials that show over a pets head work currently, but they have been working for a while now. The ranged attack toggle seems to work now too, though the text message you get is still borked, always says Ranged on.

They fixed them in Publish 6 (when they broke the ranged attacks).

We had to figure it out on our own though, and it was around a month before most people knew that they were in fact working. Which is a shame because it would have been good PR for the devs.

The specials (as opposed to the ranged) have been working as Seiryuu indicates.

My pets use them all the time on their own, so I don't command them to do so. They don't need to be encouraged to lay a dizzy or a stun on some NPC.

The ranged attacks, all around for critters, started working again when pub 8 came out last week.

yes, my pets who have ranged attacks also seem to start their attacks with it now and slowly work their way toward their target, continuing to release their ranged attack.

Hmm, if they have been working for awhile, it shows you how long I have not tried them. LOL! After the publish that introduced them I tried them out and they never seemed to work so I just stopped using them. That was about the same time I stopped reading the CH forums as well.

In a stickied FAQ discussion above, it said that in order to use specials, the pet was required to not be attacking. The work-around was to write a macro that would do a /follow before the special. Is this work-around still required?

Thanks.

all of my pets specials work on command with the exception of knockdown. anyone know if knockdown is broke or if it is just difficult for 1 creature to knock another down?

Hehe. I love the fact that my Klikniks are spitting again.

Does anyone know what a crippling strike does to an animal?

I don't use that macro trick anymore. My pets seem to respond nicely to single commands issued at any time. Although there are still a couple that don't work for me - and they didn't work with the macro either. i.e. Knockdown.

Macros are not needed. Most specials work on command with no tricks or workarounds.

Knockdown, poison and disease do not work on command. Only through normal use. (Area effect specials using these work fine on command.)

Crippling Strike = Posture Down. Great in combination with dizzy against humanoids.

What are some area effects? And have you ever seen a BE pet do an area effect? Rumour is BE pets cannot do them.
